Broadband Access

• In 2000, less than 5% of Americans had broadband internet access at home.

• In 2006, broadband access at home is now installed for 42% of American adults

• Between March 2005 and March 2006, home broadband penetration grew twice as fast as it had the previous year.

• Middle income Americans accounted for much of the increase, along with African Americans and new internet users coming online for the first time with broadband at home.
