PPD Contacting Studios, designers and heroes near and far. A few notes on contacting Studios and designers, Agencies etc. Things that maybe are common sense. Things you already know, and things we need to remember. The contacts you are making will get many, many similar contacts from students and young designers virtually every day. What do they look for, the Holy Grail? Because our business is subjective, we all enjoy so many different things, and many we have in common. Love of what we do, enthusiasm, the search for more and different things, all go to making us the Visual Communicators we are. 1: Why are you contacting them. 2: What do YOU want to get out of this? 3: What will THEY get out of knowing you? 4: Why have you chosen the method you have to contact them? 5: Is it right? Why? Being creative, we want to communicate. Learn and buid our store of knowledge and experiences. You should consider why you are contacting these people and in what way. Read what Snask (05 Board) say. Tell them something, ask them things. Tell them why you want to know them. As Snask say, Tell them you love them, tell them you have a story to tell, excite them, make them cry, make them smile...make them listen. Have a reason to speak (communicate with them) other than it is part of PPD and the Course. The more people you meet, the more can help you in your quest and future. Ceativity is not just marks on paper, it is a way to tell a story and engage others with your ideas. This works in text as well, that’s why we enjoy reading books, they conjure up the images we create in our minds... ...our words can create pictures in the minds of others.
