WHOLE IN ONE

Christophe Carmeliet was born in Belgium and grew up in its cosmopolitan capital city, Brussels.

Interested in arts and drawing in particular, he chooses graphics studies, which enables him to develop his artistic eye.

Due to his sensitivity, he could grasp the essence of this craft. Indeed, Christophe learns to open up to the worlds of others, to analyze and understand them, to translate their messages into images.

While he thrives in his professional activity, Christophe feels more and more the need to discover new horizons. He chooses North India for his fi rst travel. For the oc-casion, he buys his fi rst camera. This experience is a revelation. A second stay, in Vietnam this time, confi rms the obvious.

A few years later, Christophe answers the call of travel. This time, he departs on a six-month journey through Asia.

While he is interested in discovering new cultures, life-styles, ways of thinking and traditions, he is stricken the most by successive encounters of all kinds. Christophe observes, listens absorbs and contributes. All his senses are awake. Because of his openness to the universe of other people, every single contact becomes a source of inspiration.

His passion for photography gives him the opportu-nity to capture the magic of the moment. While moved by the beauty surrounding him, Christophe seeks to capture its sincerity through the lens. Every snapshot refl ects this quest for spontaneity.

This book brings together some of the most beautiful moments of this journey and illustrates the sincerity of every single moment.

« Si tu diffères de moi, mon frère, loin de me léser, tu m’enrichis. »

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
