Healing Service Our next healing service will be Saturday, September 7 at 5:30
p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend the service, which includes
healing of mind, body, and spirit through laying on of hands, pray-
ers, and anointing with holy oil. Holy Eucharist will also be celebrat-
ed at this peaceful service.
Two Weekends in October: 5th & 6th and 12th & 13th
Our biggest outreach fund-raiser of the year is coming up next month! We are going to sell hot dogs, chili dogs, ribeye steak sandwiches, chips, and drinks, and we need volunteers to help with all aspects of this big event. Look for sign-up sheets on the front door of the church, or call or text Tom at 317-525-4246 if you would like to help in some way.
Volunteering at our booth is a great opportunity to make some new friends and show the community what a wonderful group of people we are! If you can’t volunteer to help, come on out to the festival and enjoy one of our tasty treats. Ed Cal-ton will also be there with his funnel cake and elephant ear booth to raise funds for Project Homeless. Mark your calendars today!
Children in preschool through 12th grade are invited to come to the Apple House at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 8 for our annual Sunday School Kick-Off event.
Parents are asked to come to the Apple House be-tween 9:30 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. that morning to fill out an information form. Sunday School teachers may also come early that morning to sign up for the Sundays they wish to teach this year.
We would like to have several more teachers. Volunteering once a month would be a big help! Please sign up on the sheet posted on the front door of the church. Thank you!!
To celebrate the start of the Sunday School year, we’ll have donuts and drinks, and then we will do an activity. Children are asked to wear play clothes because we will be playing outside that morning, weather permitting.
A very big thank you goes out to everyone who volunteered to teach this past summer. We all really appreciate your time and the activities and snacks you provided for the kids this summer. They had lots of fun! Thanks again for your help!
Who’s ready for Sunday School?
I SUNDAY SCHOOL
We’re Almost There! We are very close to paying off
the loan for our lift! Please help
us reach our goal and get this
debt off our books. An easy way
to donate is to put a few dollars
in our Lift Fund bank, located in the back of the
church. Thanks!
Project Homeless will host its annual
“Christmas for the Homeless” fundraiser on
Saturday, November 16 from 3-7 p.m. The
event will be held at Bartlett Chapel United
Methodist Church in Avon. For a free-will offer-
ing you’ll enjoy a delicious home-made dinner
with beverages and desserts, and there will al-
so be a 50/50 drawing and a silent auction.
The group would appreciate donations for
the silent auction. Ideas for auction items
include restaurant gift cards, event tickets, gift
baskets, handmade items, and gently-used
household or garden items. If you would like to
donate an auction item or help with the event,
please contact Ed Calton at 317-626-9876.
Thanks to Our Lawn and
Garden Caretakers! A big thank you goes out to Tom and
Roger for cutting our grass this summer.
Also, big thanks to Harold for weeding and
cleaning around the church and Memorial
Garden, and to Laura for planting flowers
by our church entries. We all appreciate
your help keeping our church looking nice!
Donations Wanted
Thank You
for the
School
Supplies!
Thanks so
much to every-
one who donated school supplies this
summer. We collected many bags of sup-
plies and backpacks, which were donated
to Grissom Memorial Elementary School
in Muncie. Most of the students at Gris-
som Elementary are from low-income
families, and they aren’t able to purchase
new school supplies. The teachers are
very thankful for your generous dona-
tions. Thank you again for your support!
Sign Up to Host
Coffee Hour Sign up to be a
host for coffee
hour this fall! You
are welcome to
bring whatever
you’d like to serve after the 10 a.m. service.
Donuts, coffeecake, pie, breakfast casseroles,
fruit, pastries, popcorn, nachos, cookies, cup-
cakes, and brownies are all appreciated!
After everyone has eaten, you finish by wash-
ing the dishes, cleaning the tables, and taking
out the trash. The sign-up sheet is on the bulle-
tin board by the coffee bar in the undercroft.
Thank you!
Do You Love Music?
We are looking for
volunteers who would
like to provide music
for our 10 a.m. service.
Our organist is off to
college and we would
welcome any type of
music for the service. If
you play guitar or piano, or any other kind of
instrument, you could play for us during the
service. You are also welcome to sing or lead
the congregation in song. Or, you could volun-
teer to provide music on your phone and hook
it up to our sound system. If you are interested
in helping us add music to our 10 a.m. service,
please talk to Fr. Bill.

Acolytes and Lay Readers Wanted We would like to add a few more acolytes and
lay readers to our pool of volunteers. Fr. Bill will
help you learn the ropes, and you only need to
serve once a month. If you would like more
information, please contact Fr. Bill.
Feed That Meter!
You can help us pay for repav-
ing our parking lot by placing
your spare change in the parking
meter bank in the back of the
church. Our new parking lot has
really improved the exterior
appearance of our church. Even
small donations help. Thank you
so much for your support!
ReadUp at Danville South Elementary ReadUp is a program for volunteer tutors to
help third grade students reach grade-level liter-
acy. Tutors help students improve their reading
comprehension and fluency skills in preparation
for their state
academic exams
in the spring.
Volunteers will
begin helping
students in
September. The
sessions will be
Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:20 p.m. to
3:20 p.m. at South Elementary. Volunteers can
pick the day that works best for them, and are
asked to commit to tutor at least twice a month.
For more information, you can contact Renee
Bowman at [email protected], or call
South Elementary at (317) 745-2131

uting lunches for the homeless in Indianapolis.

have donations of bot-
tled water and single-
serve packages of
pudding, jello, and
applesauce to distribute
with meals. You can
leave donations in the undercroft under the
serving tables. If you would like to help the
group with food prep or distribution, please

Summer
Sunday
School Fun!
Thanks so
much to
Lynne, Laura,
Adam, Lizzy,
Susan, and
Jennifer for
coming out
to the Apple
House this
summer to
help with the
fun lessons
and activities
for the kids.
The children
learned about
Moses, the
creation, the
night sky, par-
ables, and
more. One
memorable
lesson about
the parable
of the sower
involved spe-
cial guests:
worms! Thanks again to you all for your
time, effort, and support for our children and
our Summer Sunday School!
