Dubstep has been around for 15 years. It has many subgenres within it and now is used in for clubs and parties because it has a great vibe to it. The majority of my audience would being going to clubs, festivals and parties and may want to find out more about the artists that play or create the music.

Overview The audience for my music magazine would be late teens to young adults. This is because the genre I'm focusing on, Dubstep, is relatively new and has only just become popular in the last couple of years.

OverviewMy magazine also features a section on the technology which may attract an audience who are potentially interested in creating or listening to the music. It features the latest software which has been approved by the DJ’s and also the best equipment for the listening to the music on such as Bose headphones.

The final section of the audience maybe people who are tying to keep up with the latest trends. Dubstep is becoming increasingly popular among this age range so this magazine might be the one to help them find out what the latest and best songs are and what they should be looking out for in the future.

The reason I think that I have chosen clubbers and party goers is because they build up a large section of the modern music market. They experience a lot of the music live and will be interested in keeping up with their favourite artists and finding out about future tracks that will be played at clubs and festivals.

Clubbers Dubstep is a genre that is mix of different genres like drum and bass and grime and now has variety of sub genres that have derived from it including Brostep and Trap. The majority of songs produced in this genre are bass heavy and generally do not feature many/ any lyrics.

Clubbers The artists featured, are perfect for clubbers as they are very popular on the scene at the moment and are constantly producing music that are previewed in clubs . My magazine provides them with the latest information on all the songs that are being played at the clubs and also provides information about upcoming tours. The presentation and style of the magazine easily identifies the genre. This allows the clubbers to easily indentify it from other music magazines.

The reason I identified people interested technology as a part of the audience is because Dubstep is based around the latest in music technology; and by featuring technology I will be reaching out to a larger audience than just those who like the music.

People – Interested in technology

All the music is mixed and edited on variety of software and equipment and by featuring this in the magazine it in my magazine I will not just be targeting the people who are interested in the genre I will be targeting musicians or DJ’s who are interested in creating music.

From my research and understanding of the genre technology is key aspect that attracts people to Dubstep.

People – Interested in technology I’m also featuring a prize to win a musical equipment . Portable and home music systems are important for people who like heavy bass music. The speakers are just some of the equipment up for offer in the prize draw. By giving the people in the age range of 16-25, the option to win a range of expert music equipment, it will definitely draw in a larger audience of people. This prize draw would target any of the particular social groups listed on the first slide.

People keeping up with modern trends

Finally I would say that the magazine is aimed at people keeping up with the latest trends.

It also provides information about the latest technology so informs those interested about what the upcoming music kit is going to be like.

It provides an overview of the most famous artists and a special inside look into what they do and what they have coming up. People who like to have a wide knowledge of the music scene or who want to be a part of something that is becoming rapidly popular would be extremely interested in the magazine. The content features the biggest and best artists at the moment and the imagery and text unveil secrets and unseen information that this particular section of the audience would like to know.

I would say the gender for this product would be mixed because it uses a more feminine colour scheme which will attract girls but also features musicians who produce music

for games and gamers are predominantly male. I have also used a female DJ which means that gaze theory will be in place for the men but it also provides an idol or

inspirational figure for girls to be.

Gender and Spending Power

This image shows two girls at a Dubstep concerts which suggests the idea that the

audience is mixed and contains both boys and girls.

The spending power for my audience is relatively low the

majority don't have jobs and those that do are going to be on a low wage, so the overall price for a

magazine like this should be cheap, around £2-£3.

Page 9: Who would be the audience?

The age range of the audience who would buy this product is 15-25 because it focuses around new technology and a relatively new genre of music which has only began

popular in the last few years. Most of the music within this genre is not very well known and need an active audience to search and find the music they like, whether by using new media distribution websites like YouTube, band camp or iTunes or by reading and

talking to people with the same interests as them. Younger audiences are more likely to search for music like this because it helps them find out who they are and provides

them a with group who share the same interests whereas older audiences have generally set ideas of what music sounds like and will not actively search for new artists.

LifestyleI would say that a genre directly affects a persons lifestyle and the way they look and behave. The lifestyle of people who listen to Dubstep is pretty similar for both male and female listeners. They both enjoy partying hard and raving together no matter

where the music is played. The audience would also have a great grasp of technology and some of the audience maybe gamers who have found the music whilst playing the latest video games, for instance the song Blind Faith by Chase and Status can be found in the game Dirt 3. The audience also wear more casual clothing like T-shirts and shorts

which may have images of the artists or graphics that are created using modern technologies on them.

The lifestyle of my audience relies on fast paced songs

and a great understanding of modern technologies like

YouTube and smart phones.
