    distant view of a a wide cityalley. Graffiti covers theold brick walls, the entirescene reeks of urban decay.In the distance we can seea man leaning up against thewall, smoking a cigarette andholding a chain.

    1.2 Wide on CRACKDOWN. Closerview of the man: CRACKDOWN,20s, a hoodlum dressed ina red muscle shirt and tornjeans. On his left bicep,we can clearly see a tattooof a ferocious tiger (themarking of his gang, the BloodTigers).

    1.3 Medium on Crackdown. Crackdownlooks at something off panel,his eyes suddenly alert. Hesees something that sends firerunning through his veins.

    1.4 Wide on RAILS. We see whathe was looking at: RAILS, ashirtless yet bemuscled thugwith a tattoo reading "DEATHROAD" (the gang he belongs to)across his chest and a bluebandanna on his head, walksalong the sidewalk. There isa toothpick sticking out ofhis mouth. He holds a scuffedup wooden back with "ROSIE"written on it.

    1.5 Crackdown grips his chaintightly and glares- ready fora fight- this man walking downthe street is a mortal enemy.The Death Road gang is theBlood Tiger gangs fiercest,most bitter rivals.

    to glare.

    2.2 Closeup on Rails. Railssexpression softens as hetosses the toothpick fromhis mouth aside. No onesaround, and the thought occursto him- this guy hasnt evendone anything to him.

    RAILSGot a light, Blood Tiger?

    2.3 Closeup on Crackdown.Crackdown raises an eyebrow,

    as if to say, "Are youserious?" Its the ultimatestate of confusion- thisman looked ready to beat hisbrains out with a bat justmoments ago.

    2.4 Medium on Crackdown. Crackdownrelaxes as well, but stillremains somewhat tense. Thismans been friendly, butCrackdowns still cautiousit could all be a ruse.

    CRACKDOWNSure thing, Death Road.

    2.5 Long panel showing both men.Crackdown tosses a lighter asRails catches the it.

    Crackdown pockets thelighter as Rails joins himat his side. Crackdown stillcautiously eyes Rails. Railslooks at Crackdowns chain.

    RAILS

    Chains, nice choice.

    3.2 Two shot on both men.Crackdown snickers at Railssbat. Rails proudly grins atCrackdowns comment on hisbat.

    CRACKDOWNWooden bat, classic.

    RAILSRosies never done me wrong.

    3.3 Closeup on Crackdown.Crackdowns eyebrows raise, asif hes realized something- herecognizes Rails from before.

    CRACKDOWNWait, that you cracked my ribslast month?

    3.4 Medium on Rails. Railsnervously chuckles- itseasy to lay the smackdownon a stranger but he feelsguilt when he gets to know hisvictim.

    RAILSDamn...thought you lookedfamiliar. Sorry, bro.

    3.5 Medium on Crackdown. Crackdownshrugs, bitter from the ribsbeing cracked but unable tofault Rails for it- itsall part of the gangsterlifestyle.

    CRACKDOWNEh, cant blame ya. Business asusual.

    4.1 Medium on Crackdown. Crackdown

    nonchalantly tosses hiscigarette away.

    CRACKDOWN

    Whats this rumble over today?

    4.2 Medium on Rails. Rails shrugs-he has absolutely no idea whythe gangs are fighting, hewas only told to show up andkick some ass. He looks at theground, averting Crackdownsgaze.

    RAILSNo idea. Turf, drug deals, somestupid shit.

    4.3 Closeup on Crackdown.

    Crackdown chuckles. He has noidea either. He finds a sortof dark humor in the wholething- these men were preparedto beat each other senselessfor reasons unknown to both.

    CRACKDOWN

    We even need reasons anymore?

    4.4 Closeup on Rails. Rails raiseshis cigarette, like a toast-though he still looks away. Heagrees with Crackdown, he seesits an endless cycle.

    RAILSHear that.

    4.5 Closeup on Rails. Rails looksup, almost introspectively,but sees something off panel-the other gangs approachingin the distance, although wedont see that.

    RAILSShit, see the rest of em coming.

    4.6 Two shot on both men. The twomen separate. Rails promptlytosses his cigarette and grabshis bat. Crackdown lifts hischains up again, ready to

    strike. This brief moment oftruce is over- its back tobusiness and the men are enemysoldiers once again.

    CRACKDOWNDamn, better scatter, cant beseen sharing a smoke with a Tiger.

    RAILS

    Hear that.

    5.1 Wide on both. Rails stops,

    and turns back. He has onemore friendly thing to saybefore this brief friendshipis dissolved. Crackdownlooks over his shoulder andsnickers. This challengedelights him.

    RAILS

    Hey Tiger, show me what that chaincan do.

    CRACKDOWNYou got it. Maybe this time itsyour ribs gettin cracked.

    5.2 Medium on Rails. Rails turnsand walks away, resting hisbat on his shoulders. We onlysee him from behind.

    RAILSBelieve it when I see it.

    5.3 Medium on Crackdown. Crackdownturns and away as well intothe shadows of the alley, aswith the last panel, we onlysee him from behind. He wavesquickly with one hand, and wesee his chain glinting bitsof light as he walks into theshadows.

    5.4 Closeup. The mens twocigarette butts lie on the

    ground next to each other,still smoking, like some kindof temporary memento to thismoment of peace.
