Why “Fishermen recommend“?

• To help our local fishermen to better sell their fish

How?

• By distinguishing the restaurants that sell local, wild and fresh fish from the ones that are selling importedfish (mostly from outside EU) with suspicious origin and quality and is being mislabelled as a local fish.

• Establishing our area as a tourist destination with exceptional gastronomy based on fishery products.

• Restaurants are the most important fish distribution channel in our FLAG area.

Tourists in 2018.: 430.000 arrivals / 2.500.000 nights

We believe that promoting or branding fishery products orgastronomy can’t be done without fishermen !!!

• So far 26 fishermen joined and 12 restaurants

• We taught locals where to eat local wild fish and they are passing this information to tourists

• Local and national medias are covering our programme anddoing interviews and articles about fishermen

• Fishermen job - demistified

• Fishing job has become more desirable - It was wrongly perceived as something that is very difficult and needs special skills.
