WHO IS THE WISE ONE? - Gospel of July 5, 2020

In Saint Matthew’s gospel for the 14th Sunday of Ordinary Time, we learn that the really wise people in God’s eyes are the “little ones.” It is to the “little ones” that God – through Jesus – reveals more about the kingdom, what it means to rest in the Lord, and what it means to be humble. Are you and I willing to make ourselves “little” for the sake of Jesus and His kingdom?

THE SOWER AND THE SEED – Gospel of July 12, 2020

In Saint Matthew’s gospel for the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we find the familiar story of the sower and the seed. We know that we want to be that “good seed” that firmly takes root and yields something spectacular for the Lord. We also know that our own human frailty often gets in the way. Our prayer for this week might be that we can do the “spiritual weeding” necessary in our own lives so that true spiritual growth might occur.

Faith Formation Notes

As “par for the course” with COVID19 and its effects on all our lives and planned activities: All Faith Formation youth events for the summer have been canceled, beginning with Totus Tuus, which would’ve been happened in early June. Steubenville North Rochester, was scheduled for mid-July for a good number of our HS students and Camp Summit for middle schoolers is also cancelled. This is all very disappointing to say the least. We had a number of youth & chaperones signed up to attend all of these events. All of these youth activities do a tremendous job of teaching our youth the great beauty and truth of their Catholic faith. Please keep all our Faith Formation youth and their families in your prayers! Here’s praying that next summer we can participate fully in these tremendous events for our youth. Thank you to our very supportive St. Gabriel Church Family for your past support of our youth. For families who made initial deposits for these events, reimbursement will be forthcoming soon from the Diocese.

Looking ahead …

Attention HS Youth & Parents Next summer, we are exploring the possibility of doing a larger mission trip. (Catholic Heart Work Camp) You can find out more about this at
