Introducing the MFR 2100 - Micro Fourier Rheometer
The exciting new MFR 2100 MicroFourier Rheometer has redefined thestate-of-the-art in rheologicalanalysis.
This groundbreaking product willrevolutionize the traditionalrheometer market due to thesignificant benefits offered by itsability to analyse very small volumesand perform analyses across a widefrequency range in seconds.
While traditional rheometers use atwisting motion at a single frequency,
samples that are curing or changingwith time are required.
Traditional rheometers also requirelarge volumes of sample. The MFR2100 can perform analyses onvolumes as small as 100 µL or lowerhence analyses on precious samplescan be performed. The automatedsample introduction system enablessample introduction and subsequentcleaning in seconds.
the MFR 2100 applies a novelpatented pseudo-random squeezingmotion to a sample. The complexvisco-elastic properties are extractedacross a wide frequency range inseconds at high resolution usingFourier analysis.
This makes the MFR 2100 excellentfor measuring the visco-elasticproperties of materials that arechanging rapidly with time. Anexample of this is in the paintindustry or in the adhesives industrywhere the visco-elastic properties of

applications in the analysis of inks,
biological fluids, cosmetics, polymers,
adhesives, paints, food and
petroleum products.

settings to suit. The live data signals, being the Displacement of the topplate and the resulting Force upon thebottom plate permit an immediatequalitative view of a samples'rheological properties.
The two live data signals can beplotted against each other as well asa "Lissajous" figure. This figuredisplays an immediate qualitativemeasure of phase shift, which isimportant in determining theproportions of the elastic and viscousmoduli.
The Displacement may vary as asinusoid, saw-tooth or square wave, over a variety of frequencies. Mostimportant of all, the instrumentsupports pseudo-random noise - asummation of sinusoids over manyfrequencies.

The intuitive Windows softwaregraphically represents key rheologicalparameters on the same screen.
For example, graphs of the transferfunction of force and displacementcan be shown on the same screen ascomplex viscosity and modulus as afunction of frequency in seconds.
Data OutputText files of analyses are easilygenerated. These files can beimported into third party softwarepackages such as Microsoft Excel forfurther manipulation andrepresentation.
The Cathode RayOscilloscope (CRO) ViewYou can get real-time measurementsfrom the "CRO" view. This enablesyou to see live data from theinstrument immediately and allowsyou to configure the strain (ordisplacement amplitude) and gap

MFR 2100Specifications
The specifications of the MFR 2100 are impressive
FAST - Up to 400 frequency stepsanalysed in seconds
Very small sample size (<100 µL)
High phase resolution (<2°)
Wide measurement range
Sophisticated Windows software
Automated gap setting
Simple calibration
Easy sample preparation and cleaning
G' measured to 10-4 Pa
η down to 1 mPa.s
Frequency range: 0 - 100 Hz
Force range: 0.002 - 44.5 N
Gap setting resolution: 0.625 µm
Displacement amplitude: 0.02 - 20 µm
Measurement time: 4 to 10 seconds
Multiple frequencies simultaneously
MFR 2100Easy to use
As well as being very fast the MFR
2100 is incredibly easy to use.
Gap setting is computer controlled
from 0.6µm to ~30mm with an
incredible resolution of 0.625 µm.
This is critical when measuring the
rheological properties of samples
approaching the viscosity of water.
The sample introduction plate is
computer controlled into the load
position. The sample is placed on the
plate and then set into the sample
analysis mode.
Within seconds the analysis is
complete. The plate is then moved
into the load position, cleaned and a
new sample loaded. As no cups are
used sample cleaning takes seconds.
