The AMRO Network (now IB-WHO-FIC, the Ibero-American Network for the WHO-FIC) was launched in 2011.

Its purposes are: to develop an annual WP that includes training and health

data quality programs;

to promote a collective development of tools to strengthen Health Information Systems (HIS);

to foster the creation of NRCs and establish common criteria among members;

to participate collectively the WHO-FIC Network and its different Committees.

Practices developed for the network under three RELACSIS WP

Led by CEMECE 1) Regional course for 25 trainers in FIC (Ecuador) for participants of Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru; 2) courses for 25 coders in ICD-10 in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Special sessions with interagency committees to promote the creation of CNR were developed.

Ecuador and Bolivia developed nationals courses in ICD-10 for more than 200 coders and health care professionals.

Chile, Panama launched their NRC in 2013. Ecuador, Paraguay, Bolivia, El Salvador and Colombia are working on their ToRs.

Led by Mexico and Argentina. 2 Online course for coders in (ICD-10) thorough PAHO virtual campus. 1rst course: 8 countries, 94 participants. Now 15 countries, 300 participants.

Led by Mexico, Argentina and Uruguay. Online course for properly filling out the death certificate. 15 countries, 150 medical doctors. The course is now available for all countries thorough PAHO virtual campus. Now translating in English for CC.

Led by Mexico. Spread of the Mexican version of the MMDS software coding causes of death with ICD-10. 12 countries. WG to develop IRIS Spanish version

PAHO developed a guideline for deliberate search of maternal deaths based on the experience of Brazil and Mexico and disseminated thorough the RELACSIS portal.

Near future

Under the framework of RELACSIS 2014-15 WP the Iberoamerican Network for the WHO-FIC is:1. Working to select new practices to develop and disseminate thorough countries; 2. Planning to participate and coordinate actions with WHO FIC Network in piloting: ICD-11 in the Spanish version; ICHI new version in Spanish; IRIS version in Spanish; The uses of new classifications (as DENGE) in eight

American countries3. To develop a position paper of consequences of conceptual and classifications changes between ICD-10 and ICD-11.
