Lo- cated in Williamstown, KY, the ark is 45 miles south of the Creaon Museum in Petersburg, KY. Both locaons are considered suburbs of Cincinna, OH. Both are owned by Answers in Genesis (AIG), an associaon that believes in a young earth that is thousands instead of millions of years in age, that Noah’s Flood was glob- al and not a local flood, and that humans and dinosaurs have co-existed in the past. At first glance, the Ark is impressive being over 510 feet in length. Similar full-scale replicas of Noah’s Ark have been built by others in Hong Kong, China (450 feet), & in Dor- drecht, Netherlands (390 feet). Construcon crews began clearing the Ark site in Fall 2012. About 1,000 craſtsmen built the Ark including a number of Amish carpenters. Opened in July 2016, the $100 million Ark Encounter had one million visitors the next twelve months (through July 2017). While most of those who claim to be Chrisans love the Ark Encounter, several groups that believe in evoluonary theory opposed the ark’s construcon. The Freedom From Religion Foundaon (FFRF) sent leers to more than a thou- sand schools in 5 states warning them not to plan school trips to the Ark. About 150 mem- bers of Tri-State Freethinkers protested the Ark’s grand opening. One held a sign that said, “This Fable Won’t Float.” Pro-evoluon groups that were concerned about the “separaon of church and state” sued to prohibit AIG from requiring employees to sign a statement of faith as precon- dion of employment. They lost. Others cricized AIG for its use of religion to make a profit, or for AIG’s condemnaon of homosexual behaviors. I am thankful for the Ark & the Creaon Museum and for men & women of science who pursued educaon so they could glorify God with their knowledge. We should be grateful for donors who sacrificed money so these museums could be built. We appreciate Kris & Glenda Bull for renng the busses, & Roger Heath & Farris Tidwell for driving them. Reflections on the Ark

The Ark Encounter is a full-scale model of Noah’s Ark completed in July 2016. Lo-

cated in Williamstown, KY, the ark is 45 miles south of the Creation Museum in Petersburg,

KY. Both locations are considered suburbs of Cincinnati, OH.

Both are owned by Answers in Genesis (AIG), an association that believes in a

young earth that is thousands instead of millions of years in age, that Noah’s Flood was glob-

al and not a local flood, and that humans and dinosaurs have co-existed in the past.

At first glance, the Ark is impressive being over 510 feet in length. Similar full-scale

replicas of Noah’s Ark have been built by others in Hong Kong, China (450 feet), & in Dor-

drecht, Netherlands (390 feet).

built the Ark including a number of Amish carpenters. Opened in July 2016, the $100 million

Ark Encounter had one million visitors the next twelve months (through July 2017).

While most of those who claim to be Christians love the Ark Encounter, several

groups that believe in evolutionary theory opposed the ark’s construction.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) sent letters to more than a thou-

sand schools in 5 states warning them not to plan school trips to the Ark. About 150 mem-

bers of Tri-State Freethinkers protested the Ark’s grand opening. One held a sign that said,

“This Fable Won’t Float.”

Pro-evolution groups that were concerned about the “separation of church and

state” sued to prohibit AIG from requiring employees to sign a statement of faith as precon-

To the White Bluff Church Family, We appreciate all of the expressions of gratitude we have received following the trip to the Ark Encounter and Crea-tion Museum. There was, however, nothing extraordinary about anything we did. Paul encouraged us to follow his example as he followed the example of Christ. Glenda’s parents, Avrel and Birdie Brumfield, set a Christ-like exam-ple throughout their lives in their generosity toward God’s people. When they passed into eternity, they requested that their estate be used to continue that work. Glenda and I are privileged to have been chosen as stewards of that estate, and we felt that this trip was something her parents would have wholeheartedly endorsed and even participat-ed in had they been with us. Avrel and Birdie would indeed be thrilled to know that their influence continues to spread even today, but only because they were so grateful for the salvation they received through Christ and their desire to proclaim the Gospel. We love our church family. Kris and Glenda Bull
