THANK YOU, UMM
A big thank you to the UMM for the wonderful cookout last Sunday. Your hard work and great cooking was very much appreciated!
PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION
Please contact the preschool office for more information or questions about registering your child [[email protected] or 703.385.4422]. Brochures are on the welcome table in the narthex. Enroll now! There are still a few spots available.
FRIDAY’S OFFICE ANGELS
There are no Office Angels scheduled for Friday, July 12, 2013. If you have time in your schedule to assist in the office, please let us know and thank you! There is a signup board in the Narthex, or let the office know [[email protected] or 703.385.4550]. The Office Angel schedule is posted on the church website. The fun starts at 11 AM and doesn’t usually require more than an hour or two.
NEEDED: NEW GREETER COORDINATOR
The church continues to seek a new Greeter Coordinator. If you are willing to help make this vital ministry happen, please let the church office know [[email protected] or 703.385.4550]. Sally Adkins will continue through the month of July and is happy to share the information she has been using to assure that we have Greeters each Sunday.
SUMMER FELLOWSHIP
The Sunday fellowship gathering is in need of individuals, groups, or classes to provide snacks and prepare coffee and lemonade during the summer months. The schedule will remain the same [9:00 AM Sunday school, 10:00 AM Fellowship, and 10:30 AM Worship]. If you are able to assist, please let the office know [[email protected] or 703.385.4550]. There is also a sign up sheet in the Narthex. Currently, the following days are open and needing assistance: July 14, July 21, July 28 (VBS Cook-Out, only coffee/lemonade needed during Sunday school hour); August 4, August 11, August 18, August 25, and September 1.
Thank you to Sally Adkins and Gail Mangano for covering today’s Adult Sunday School Fellowship!
ST. GEORGE’S VBS EVERYWHERE FUN FAIR
St. George’s VBS at the Everywhere Fun Fair will be held July 22-26, from 12:30-3:30 PM (please note this is a new time). We still have a need for volunteers – specifically, group leaders are needed to travel with the groups of children from station to station. Youth are eligible to help. If you are willing and available to help, please contact Julie Moore, VBS Director [[email protected]].

WANTED: SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS
This is an easy and rewarding one-time or as many times as you feel the spirit move you to teach a Sunday School Class this summer. We will continue with the normal “Come Grow with Us” curriculum through the months of June and July. This means we will have regular classes for ages Pre-K-K/1

/combined Youth (Jr/Sr High) (four age groupings). Please note that the week’s materials will be provided so that minimal preparation is needed. If you pick-up the package of information at least a week before the session you should be good to go. With any questions about the materials, please contact Wendy Williams [[email protected] or 703.425.9506]. There will also be two adult classes – Journey Thru the Bible continues and the couples class will be holding an eight week program centered around “Understanding Your Spouse” (not couples’ therapy but rather the art of spiritual communication and understanding). The month of August will see all the children’s classes combined into a one-room schoolroom and the youth will stay combined as well. The theme for AUGUST is MISSIONS. The adult classes will continue on their scheduled path.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Registration is open for the Everywhere Fun Fair at St. George’s Vacation Bible School! This year’s VBS will be held July 22-26, 2013 from 12:30-3:30 PM (new time) and is open to all 4 year olds through rising 4th graders. Rising 5th and 6th graders will participate in a Mission Camp, where they will travel locally for hands-on mission projects. The cost is $25/child and $50/family, and includes one CD and t-shirt per child. Volunteers for VBS are also needed! Whether you would like to travel with groups of children or lead a station, we have a place for you. We also are offering online registration for the first time this year. Check out the VBS Bulletin Board across from the elevator, or the Narthex display, and/or see the church’s web site for more information, including registration forms and the link to register online. Questions? Contact Julie Moore, VBS Director [[email protected]].
LOST AND FOUND
Are you missing shoes, jewelry, a single glove? The lost and found box has many unclaimed items, all awaiting their rightful owners! Please check with the office if you’re missing something. Perhaps we have it here!
CAN YOU HELP?
The church continues to seek assistance in straightening the Sanctuary once a week (on either Thursday or Friday). It only takes about 45 minutes and training takes about five minutes. It is a great job for a high school student looking to get service hours. For more information, contact the office [[email protected] or 703.385.4550].
GEEK NOTES AND UPDATES

Please submit the following information: ministry or mission name, primary and secondary points of contact, actively involved supporting organizations (i.e., UMM, UMW, UMYF), with a brief description to Kevin Phillips [[email protected]].
