White Horse Park Times 1 Dear Homeowners, House numbers are MANDATORY! It is a Maryland state law that numbers on your home must be visible from the street-in daylight and at night. I cannot stress enough how important this is. Not having a number can mean life or death-emergency vehicles need to know where they are going. The ECC will be cracking down on this issue-fines will be enforced-if we can't find them, emergency vehicles can't. When replacing your shed or selling your property, your shed must be on YOUR property. No fences are allowed in WHP, this includes privacy fencing. No fire pits of any kind are allowed in WHP. If you have one, remove it. Violation notices will be going out, and if not removed, fines will be enforced. We appreciate your cooperation. Thank you. PRESIDENTS CORNER

It’s hard to believe that the main season at the Park is over and that it seemed to pass so fast. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is just about ready to begin. Please remember that the weather will also be turning colder and it is time to take care of winterizing your unit. Last year we had some broken pipes in units and leaks because the units were not winterized properly. We also had some problems with hydrants because hoses were left on and attached to the hydrants. These repairs can be very expensive for owners. There is no way anyone at the park can check all 465 units to make sure they are winterized it is up to the owners to take care of this matter. The weather can take a turn quickly so be prepared. Thank you to all members who attended meetings this season, it is always helpful to have your input when we are making decisions that affect all homeowners. The Board held its last meeting on October 18th, until February, however we will be having a work session on Saturday, January 10th to consider revisions to the Rules and Regulations for the Park and also for the Marina. In the meantime the Board members are reviewing current rules and regulations to have suggestions ready for this meeting. If any members have any suggestions for revisions, additions, or other input, please submit them to the board through the website or in writing to the office. We will be glad to hear from you. If you are able to attend the work session in January keep in mind that it is a work session and there will be no open forum at that time. At the October meeting the Board approved the pay down of the credit line at the Bank of Ocean City by $100,000.00. This credit line had an interest rate of 6.8% and left a balance to pay off of $48,000.00. We accepted a contract price from Serpe Construction to build the pavilion at the Clubhouse. We are looking forward to being able to use it for the Memorial Day Picnic. This will be a great permanent addition to the Park and will be enjoyed by many members for years to come. Ted and Doug have several winter projects they are working on during the off season. Even though the Park is pretty much deserted from now till spring there is still a lot of work going on in the Park. I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving ! It is a great opportunity to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for, family, friends, health and many more blessings.

MARINA The marina looks very sad without any boats in it (and a little spooky, too). Not much to say at this point. The electrical inspection was performed last week, and all was in order. We are awaiting a quote to remove trees from the boatyard to prepare to install a fence. Just a reminder – effective November first, the rear gate of the boatyard will only be unlocked if someone requests it. See you in the spring.

Boating season will be upon us again before you realize it.

The SLIP renewal fee is $400.00.

Please contact the office by February 15 and let us know if you will be

Renewing or Not Renewing.

MARK YOUR CALANDARS !!!

After February 16th, if we are not notified that you want your slip we will offer the slip to

next owner on the waiting list.

All persons leasing slips for 2015 must provide

1. Completed Marina Slip Lease Agreement (which will be sent to you)

2. A current copy of insurance 3. A current copy of boat registration

Boats will not be allowed to occupy the slip without these documents on file and you will not be able to purchase a WHP Boat Sticker until all documents are received.

Boat stickers for 2015 will be available after April 1

st, 2015 which starts WHP’s New Fiscal Year.

MARK YOUR CALANDARS !!!

SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE

Ingredients: Casserole:

2 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes (about 3)

1 orange, zested and juiced

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon honey

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup diced dried apricots

Topping:

1/2 cup oatmeal

1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

2 tablespoons butter, cut into pea-sized

pieces

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Put the sweet potatoes on a sheet tray and roast for 35 to 40 minutes. The sweet potatoes might still be a little hard in the center- no problem! While the sweet potatoes are baking make the topping. In a food processor, combine the oatmeal, brown sugar, olive oil, butter and pulse until mixture comes together. When the potatoes are cool enough to handle, peel them and cut them into 1-inch chunks. Discard the skins. Put the potatoes into a large dish and add the remaining ingredients. Mash together with a potato masher until well combined. Transfer the mixture to a 2-quart casserole dish. Crumble the topping mixture over the potatoes. Bake until the mixture hot all the way through and the topping is brown and crispy, about 30 minutes. That's a hot sweet potato!

CLUBHOUSE NEWS

Thank you The clubhouse has one last huge thanks to send out to Bob and Betty Raymond, and their family. Bob and Betty played the music and karaoke for all of the events and over the summer. When Bob couldn't make it, their daughter Patty, would step up and help them. Not only did they give their time, but they brought their own equipment, set up the day before, etc..., so that we could all enjoy music and singing during the events. We want to thank them for everything they did for us this summer. Thank you so much!!! And speaking of volunteering,

We need you!!! The clubhouse is going to be in need of your services next year. We have the many events we provide to the community as well as the Snack Shack. The Snack Shack is Monday - Friday from Noon to 2pm. If anyone wants to open the Snack Shack in the evening or on the weekend, that is up to you. We will take any time you can provide, an hour here or there, a specific day you can do weekly, like every Monday. If you want to help with your community and get to meet people, please volunteer. I would like to add your name to our volunteer list. Please feel free to contact me at 443-520-4689 or email at the following [email protected] . Any time you have to help serve the community is appreciated in so many ways. See you soon, Linda
