Hi everyone,
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe
and relaxing term break. It is evident that children and staff
are tired and are in need of a rest after an eleven-week term
and there has been quite a bit of sickness within the community.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 16th July for
the start of yet another big term.
End of Term Dismissal: Friday, 29th June 2.30pm
Students will be dismissed at 2.30pm on Friday, 29th June. We
will have lunch from 1.30pm until 2.30pm, due to DET
regulations we are unable to dismiss students until 2.30pm.
Parents may collect children at 1.30pm if they wish, but they
MUST be signed out at the office.
Uniform Shop & Canteen - Closed Tomorrow, Friday 29th
June, last Day of Term
The Uniform shop and Canteen will be closed tomorrow, last
day of Term.
Rosters, were handed to students yesterday.
We still need extra helpers for the Term 3 Canteen roster,
if you can help on a Wednesday or Friday, please let the
office staff know.
Breaky Club Last Day Term 2 –closed Tomorrow Friday
29th June, last Day of Term.
Attendance Update This Term, 403 students have only missed 0, 1 or 2 days, an
amazing results. These students were acknowledged at our
assembly on Monday and ‘principal’s morning tea’ on
Wednesday. We have also had 283 students who have missed
0, 1 or 2 days for Semester 1 (both Terms 1 & 2). This is an
amazing effort and we hope that this continues into terms 3 &
4. These students received a special certificate to acknowledge
this achievement. White Hills’ attendance data is amongst the
best in the State, congratulations to our students and their
families.
Student Absence
Starting next term, parents will receive a notification via email
and the parents portal each morning if they are absent
unexplained. Parents have the opportunity to then provide a
reason for the absence via the parent portal. This is in line with
the Department’s changes in school requirements around
student absences.
Asphalt Works in the holidays
Over the holiday period, the area on the east end of the staff
carpark will be resurfaced in line with the rest of the carpark
area. This space will obviously be out of bounds during this
period.

Out of Uniform Day on the Last Day of Term – Tomorrow, Friday 29th June
Money raised for our end of term ‘Out of Uniform Day’, will
be forwarded to the Breast Cancer research.
Each student participating is asked to bring a gold coin
donation towards this important appeal.
Assembly Change As of the week beginning 30th July, (week 3 in Term 3) our Monday
morning assembly will move to Friday afternoons from 3.10pm. The
school is going to trial Friday afternoons (where we will celebrate
the week that was!) to maximise morning learning time as we know
that students learn best earlier in the school day. The plan is to trial
this for the last 8 weeks of Term 3 beginning on Friday 3rd August.
We know there are many parents at school at the end of a day and
encourage you all to come along to the Friday assemblies once they
begin.
Choir and Band Rock BUPA
Last Friday nearly 60 students visited Bupa Aged Care facility as part of the school choir or rock band to perform for a live audience.
The choir sang four songs and the band played three songs with students swapping instruments for each song. The residents were
most impressed with the students’ confidence and talent. We have planned another visit later in the year. A huge thanks to our music
teacher, Mr Kaine Marsh for all the effort he has contributed to making both teams a success and to his wife ….. who volunteers her
time to train the choir. We also want to acknowledge ‘Muso’s Stuff’ for their generous donation of equipment to ensure the children
could be heard clearly.
School Council Report for June
Last week the Council convened for the June meeting and the following items were discussed or endorsed:
Grade 4 camp to Maldon
Installation of a new digital phone system as part of the NBN rollout occurring in this area in September.
The school has engaged the services of a company called OSHC Consultants Australia who support schools with Outside
of School Hours Care negotiations.
The school has a water leak that we are trying hard to locate as the past two accounts have been quite high.
Team China Presentations
The students who travelled to China this year, conducted an engaging presentations to students in grades 4-6 today. They came
dressed in costume and used video of their experiences to entertain the students. If you are interested in your child travelling to China
next year, (Grade 5 & 6 only) there will be a presentation in September outlining this opportunity, or give me a ring.
REPEAT NOTICES 2019 Enrolments
As promoted at our information sessions last week, parents with Prep students for 2019 have until Tomorrow, Friday 29th June to
return enrolment forms to schools. We encourage parents who are yet to collect a 2019 enrolment form to access an enrolment pack
from the office as soon as possible. This includes younger siblings of students already attending White Hills PS. This is particularly
important now that the school has an enrolment ceiling. We have informed families who reside outside our neighbourhood zone, who
have submitted an interim enrolment form, that they will be contacted in the first week of August to let them know if there is a
vacancy for 2019.
Getting Ready for School Nights
Our popular ‘Getting Ready for School’ Nights will be held on Tuesday, 7th August (Math and Social) and Tuesday, 14th August
(English). These nights will assist parents in preparing their children who start school next year. Sessions are from 5.30pm-6.30pm
in the Grade 6 rooms with childcare available both nights. These sessions are available to any parents who have a child beginning
prep next year, whether you are in the neighbourhood zone or not.
Cyber Safety Sessions Term 3
We have been able to secure The Alannah Madeline Foundation for Tuesday 4th September for a presentation about ‘Parenting in
the Digital World’.
More information to come
Chinese Immersion Program 2018
We now have six families who have expressed an interest to host a Chinese student this year. This means we can host 2 boys and 2
girls at this stage. We are still seeking additional families who might be interested in this experience in October. The students usually
arrive in week 2 of Term 4 and leave in the first week of December. I am seeking expressions of interest from families of children in
Grades 3-6 (can be other grades also) to host a Chinese student for four or eight weeks during their visit. The Chinese students are
10-12 years old and are in Grade 5. (The Chinese school year begins in September). If you are interested, please reply by email to
If you would like more information or would like to speak with a family who hosted last year, please feel free to contact me.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you here at WHPS.

PFG News Next Meeting
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 18th July at approximately 9.05am in the staffroom.
All newcomers are welcome to attend any meeting! You may bring along younger siblings to our meetings as well. Come and
have morning tea with us, a chat and a laugh, and find out what we do around the school.
Cadbury Chocolate Fundraiser
Our Cadbury Fundraiser boxes were distributed to the eldest child in each family last week. Each box contains chocolates to the
value of $50.00. They are very easy to sell – take them to netball, football, soccer, your workplace, or sell them to neighbours, family
and friends.
All money and unsold chocolates MUST be returned to school by 4.00pm, Friday 27th July, or payment in full via QKR or
EFTPOS at the office. Once your first box is paid for, an additional box can be collected from the office. Extra boxes can be purchased before and after the
due date.
Thank you for your continued support. All money raised will go toward the continuing school building and grounds
upgrade. Wishing everyone a great holiday break.
Thankyou from P & F Group

Very proud of our students and how they led their
conference. Great to see so many parents available to attend
their child’s conference.
Projects
As you would have noticed in your child’s room, there were
some fantastic models which were an option on the Inquiry
project. Well done to those students who managed to
complete 6 project tasks. Some class time was given for this
project but it was still necessary for students to organise their
time to work on ones at home.
Sovereign Hill
Sounds like everyone had a great day and saw and learnt
about life on the gold fields. Well done to those who
managed to ‘strike it rich’. Thank you to our parent helpers
on the day.
Over the holidays continue to read and store some of the
interesting words you come across. Don’t forget to practise
your times tables. Have a relaxing holiday and return
refreshed for term 3.
