Message from the Executive Director Hello Everyone, It is hard not to love this time of year. For many of us it is the most meaningful time of year. All at once it is the late fall and early winter. We can look back on the past year and look forward to a new one. It is a special time of year for family, and for many it brings a significant religious celebration. Without the drapery of commerce and material trappings, November and December are delight- ful. Unfortunately, it is hard to escape the riptide of commercialism that is whipped up this time of year. What the holidays are supposed to be, according to Madison Avenue, are washed over us again and again. I wish that we had more say in what the holidays mean to us. To me, the trees can relax now that fall has harvested their leaves. e clouds pass more quickly as winter starts to push in. e humid air of summer is replaced by the crisp smell of burning firewood. Comfort food bakes in every oven. People come together with the purpose of wishing others well and celebration. Families reunite to reconnect and renew. For a few months we can take a break and focus on what is important to us. No one is in charge of November and December. No one owns it. It is all of ours to enjoy. It is a giſt to use as we see fit. When we see this time of year for its true potential, who needs Madison Avenue? Message from the Executive DirectorHello Everyone,

It is hard not to love this time of year. For many of us it is the most meaningful time of year. All at once it is the late fall and early winter. We can look back on the past year and look forward to a new one. It is a special time of year for family, and for many it brings a significant religious celebration.

Without the drapery of commerce and material trappings, November and December are delight-ful.

The clouds pass more quickly as winter starts to push in. The humid air of summer is replaced by the crisp smell of

burning firewood. Comfort food bakes in every oven. People come together with the purpose of wishing others well and celebration. Families reunite to reconnect and renew.

For a few months we can take a break and focus on what is important to us. No one is in charge of November and December. No one owns it. It is all of ours to enjoy. It is a gift to use as we see fit. When we see this time of year for its true potential, who needs Madison Avenue?

Sincerely,
