About Me!• From St. Louis, grew up in Kirkwood• Graduated from Mizzou in 2006 with a degree in
elementary education• Completed my Master’s Degree in special education,
from Webster University in May of 2012.• I got married on June 8th • Experience: 4 years in Parkway (1st and 3rd grade), 4th
year at Glenridge (2nd grade). • Professional Development-Co-Teaching Training
through SSD, Autism Conferences, Lucy Calkins Writing Conference, Teachers College Writing Institute (2 summers), Nat’l Science Teachers Association Conference, Past Member of District Literacy Committee, Current member of District PDC and Social Studies Committees, Lab Classroom

bridging the gap between guided reading and Literature Study Groups/Student-Led Book Clubs

to 1 writing celebration during the year! Each classroom will invite parents to a different unit in order to best utilize our space, but all classrooms will experience this wonderful opportunity!!
Language/Word Study• Spelling & Language-Imbedded within all
areas of the Reading and Writing Workshop!-Pretest on Monday, test on Friday for those who
did not pass the pretest. Assess the transfer of spelling within daily writing.
• Vocabulary-Imbedded within read alouds, guided reading, and all content areas.
Mathematics• Math In Focus is organized to teach fewer
concepts at each level, but to teach them thoroughly.
• Helps students build solid conceptual understanding through a focus on problem solving.
• Students learn the “why” and the “how” through instruction, hands-on activities, and problem solving
