Where are Nanking and Shanghai?

Battle at Shanghai• Summer of 1937.• When did WWII Start?• Chinese put up a good fight and the battle

drug on which infuriated the Japanese.

• Dec. 13, 1937 50,000 Japanese soldiers smashed into Nanking.

• Six weeks• They murdered about

300,000 out of 600,000 civilians and soldiers in the city.

Nanking

• First eliminated the 90,000 Chinese soldiers who surrendered.

• Mowed down by machine guns, burned alive etc.

• Why would this be the first action?

• Then attention turned to women.

• More than 20,000 females were gang-raped and stabbed to death by bayonets or shot.
