EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Little things, like a skinned knee, can be treated at home. Life threatening conditions, such as chest pain, require a trip to an emergency department. For everything else, there’s walk-in care.
Where can I find “walk-in” care?
PRIMARY CAREA primary care physician (one whose specialty is family medicine, internal medicine or pediatrics for children up to age 18) is the health care provider who is your main point of contact for continuing care. He or she coordinates your care, makes referrals to specialists if needed, and identifies and treats common medical conditions. Your primary care doctor can provide:
• Preventive care
• Routine check-ups
• Sports physicals
• Management of conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure,
heart disease and others
• Immunizations and vaccinations
• Health maintenance
• Treatment of acute illness such as flu, bronchitis, sinusitis, cough, cold and sore throat
For these symptoms or any other health problem you believe is life threatening, call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency department.
