Promoting the dance of shag, fabulous beach music, and camaraderie between friends and community! Where shagging is a way of life! Letter from the President of the Coastal Shag Club Ho Ho Ho Shaggers, I want to wish a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all y’all and your families. We have had a great year with the Coastal Shag Club and much to look back on and be proud of. We have shared laughs many and good times together and I see nothing but more of the same ahead for next year. Some of our achievements include placing in the SOS Spring Safari parade (we’ll be competing again in 2010 under Gary Sellers’ watchful eye). We were able to reach 100 members – ‘Coastal Shag Shakers’ - something I hope we can maintain or grow. We were able to begin some community volunteering. We had several successful fundraising events, including what felt like a shag-a-thon at the Brunswick Forest Shelmore Shag, our Yard Sale, and phenomenal Golf Tournament. We were able to support community events that support Shag like the NC Azalea Festival and NC Oyster Festival. On a personal note, I’d like to thank you all for supporting Julie and I at the shag contests at both events. Your encouragement and support mean so much to us. We also faced some challenges this year. We had to cancel a dance due to facility issues, which the Moose Lodge quickly and fortunately resolved. We greatly appreciate their support and thank them for hosting us at the Lodge. We also had our friend and member Pat Rismiller pass away. Our heart goes out to her family facing the holidays without her. Through the tough times we support each other because we’re not only a club, but a family. As you know, we are a volunteer organization and I want to thank each of you for all you gave to help us fundraise. It was such a good feeling at the December board meeting to be able to discuss which worthy charities we would be able to donate funds to and I hope each of you feel proud of the lives you’ve touched and improved, if even in a small way. We will be making some donation presentations at our December dance and you can check out more details about that on our website. www.coastalshagclub.org . I want to encourage you to come to the 6:30pm free lesson before the dance with Jim and Donna. We appreciate their donating their time and talent. Reminder – please continue to support the businesses that support shaggers. We need them and they need us. Stay active and let us hear from you – this is OUR club and every voice matters. I feel we have had a blessed year at CSC and I hope all y’all do too. We have something special here in Brunswick County and truly the nicest, most fun club around. You all make the difference and I have to repeat myself… I hear that all the time from people and I agree. Julie and I talk about how lucky we feel to have found Shag and so many Coastal Shag Club friends to share the good times with. Promoting the dance of shag, fabulous beach music, and camaraderie between friends and community!

Where shagging is a way of life!

Letter from the President of the Coastal Shag Club

Ho Ho Ho Shaggers,

I want to wish a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all y’all and your families.

We will be making some donation presentations at our December dance and you can check out more details about that on our website. www.coastalshagclub.org.

We wish you and yours a safe, happy holiday filled with many blessings and the peace of the season.

We’re at it again this month! Please plan to bring a canned food or other non-perishable food item to the dance this month to be donated to our local food pantry, family assistance, or Brunswick County Senior Centers.

Don’t miss the dance this Saturday. We will be making presentations to several local organizations. So come out and enjoy the feeling of holiday goodness and spread some cheer!

Thank you to all the CSC members and

guests attending the November dance. Your attendance and food contributions made the dance a special night and we so appreciate you.

Our November Thanksgiving Dance was a blast. We had record attendance and spectacular food! The club provided turkey and ham, and as you know our members and guests provided all the fixins’. We had stuffing, green bean casserole, fresh veggies, a variety of salads, pies, cookies, cheeses and so much more. We laughed and danced the night away. Our DJ, Wylkie Whaley was superb and played all the right tunes all night long!

Thank you all so much for contributing toward the collection of food for needy residents in Brunswick County. We collected a sizeable amount of non-perishable items that were carried by Marlene & Walt Luniewski to St. Brendan’s Church. Those food items were then provided to the local food bank for distribution to the needy. CSC continues to make a difference in the lives of others.

At our December dance we’ll be collecting non-perishable food items again and collecting new socks for the need as well.

A little “shout out” from the outgoing CSC Secretary. I just want to say THANK YOU for letting me work with you all these past two(+) years. It has been enjoyable and a learning experience for me. I have enjoyed serving with you all and have really enjoyed getting to know the officers, the club members and guests during this time. You can count on me to help in the future. I hope you’ll ask if you need anything from me to keep the CSC moving in a positive direction. Our little club is really doing BIG things and I’ve been happy to be a part of it all.

BRING A GUEST . . . We are always trying to increase attendance at our dances and yes, everyone is welcome at our dances. We enjoy getting to know new people and promoting beach music and shag dancing. Currently, all shag club members, including members of other shag clubs, pay our $5 member entry price at the door. If there is a non-shag club member guest that you would like to request have entrance into the dance for member price, please see any board officer for approval prior to the dance. We unfortunately cannot allow free entry to our dances to anyone. It would be unfair to our own members who pay a $5 admission price. If you would like to invite someone to our dance as your guest, we welcome that person and ask that the inviting member pay for their guest's entry to the dance. If you have questions,

please see any officer.

Moving into year three for the Coastal Shag Club. With your help, we have successfully gotten the club off to a wonderful start. For 2010, we have a few new Board Members and a new club Secretary. We proudly congratulate and welcome our new club leaders:
