EventhoughColonyPointCondominium’ssewerdrainsystemis locatedunderneathconcrete,NuFlowwasabletocleanandlinethepipeswithoutcausingdestructiontothebuildingorinconveniencingtheresidents.Notonlywasour liningsolutioncost-effectivewhen compared to a traditional re-pipeoron-goingmaintenance,but theColonyPointresidentsdonothavetoworryaboutfutureleaksorbuildupinthepipesystem.

Project:Cleanandlineaged,undergroundsewerdrainlinestopreventfuturebackupsandleakswithoutcausingdamagetothebuildingorhavingtodisruptresidents.

Customer and site: Colony PointCondominium,athree-storycondominiumcomplexwith63units,wasbuilt in1972.ThiswaterfrontcondominiumislocatedonCharlotteHarborinPuntaGorda,Florida,100milessouthofTampa.

system: Cast iron kitchen, laundry andsanitary sewerdrain lineswithdiametersof3”and4”.Thepipesarelocatedunderconcretefoundationsandfloors.

situation:Thecondominium’scrackedandcorrodedcastirondrainsystemleakedintosomeoftheunits,sotheColonyPointCondominiumOwner’sAssociationwantedtochecktherestofthepipesandrepairthemassoonaspossible.Iftheundergroundpipeswerealsoinpoorcondition,atraditionalre-pipejobwouldhaveconsistedofjackhammeringtheconcretefloorsthatwerecoveredwithceramictileandcarpet,soColonyPointcalledNuFlowtoinvestigateandlineanydamagedundergroundpipes. solution:Inthefirstphase,NuFlowinspectedthe3”and4”undergroundsewerpipesusingaremotecameraandexistingaccesspoints.Ourtrenchlesstechnologyallowedustocleanthepipes,riddingthemofbuilt-upcorrosion,andtheninstallourPull-in-Placestructurallinertocovercracksandpreventfuturecorrosion,allwhilepreservingtheconcreteandceramicfloors.

ResidentsinColonyPointdidnotexperienceinconvenience,displacementoramessyconstructionsiteduringNuFlow’swork.Furthermore,theywillbenefitforyearstocomefromthisretrofitthatextendstheusefullifeoftheirpipes.

Case study: OmniHotel

AlongrunoftheOmniHotel’sdrainlineislocatedbelowthewatertable,makingitvictimtocorrosiveoceanwaterthateatsatthepipes,causingcracksandholes.Sincethedrainlineislocatedundertheparkingstructure,Nu Flow succeededwhere a traditional spot repair failed, because our lining can be pulled into place andinstalledusingno-digtechnology.Theinstalledstructuralliningwillprotectthepipesfrombeingattackedbytheoceanwater.

Project:CleanandlinesewerpipesundertheOmniHotel’sparkingstructure.

Customer: Omni Hotels & Resorts owns 47 luxuryhotelsandresortsinNorthAmerica.

site:OmniHotelinDowntownSanDiego,California,isa fourstar,waterfronthotelwith511guest roomsandsuites.

system: 70 feet of a 4” cast iron sewer drain lineunder18 inchesofslabbeneath thehotel’sparkingstructure.

situation: The Omni Hotel, built in 2004, sits atsea level,with itsparkingstructurebelow thehotel.The sewer drain lines run beneath an 18-inch slabunderneaththeparkingstructure,puttingthembelowtheocean’swatertable.Soonenough,thecorrosiveoceanwaterattackedthepipes,causingcracksandholesinthesystem.

Thecustomerinitiallybroughtinworkerstodoasmallspot repairon thepipes,butonce theextentof thedamagewasrecognized,thecustomerdecidedNuFlow’strenchlesstechnologywastheidealsolution.

solution:NuFlowcleanedthedrainlinetoremovecorrosionandtheninstalledourPull-in-Placestructurallinertocoveranycracksandholes,aswellaspreventfuturecorrosionorbreaks.Thiseco-friendlyprocesscreatesaseamlesspipewithinthehostpipe,minimizingwasteandprovingtobecost-effectiveforthecustomer.Ourstructural liner is installed using trenchless technology, so therewasn’t any destruction to theOmniHotel’sparkingstructureandthehotelvisitorswerenotinconvenienced.

Forcommercialpropertiesbuiltatsealevel,pipesystemsarecommonlylocatedunderneaththewatertable.Preventsystemfailuresbeforetheyoccurandcausecostly,destructiveanddisruptiveconstruction.ProtectyourpipesystemsfromcorrosionandleakswithNuFlow’scost-effective,no-digtechnology.

Case study: GulfviewClub

ResidentsintheGulfviewClubCondominiumshadaproblemthatwasnotgoingtogoawayon its own. In fact, this issue could only getworsewithtime.

Inthebackoftheirminds,residentsknewthattheirinboundwatersupplycouldfailatanytime.Thebadlycorrodedpipescouldgetcompletelyblocked-up, andworse, the closed-upportionofthepipewouldmostlikelybeunderground.The property manager knew that he shouldaddress thisproblemsooner rather than laterto ensure the threatening nightmare did notbecomeareality.

Project: Rehabilitate the corroded anddeteriorating potable water main for a largecondominium without causing destruction tothebuildingorinconveniencingtheresidents.

Customer and site: Gulfview ClubCondominium is a 27-story beachfrontcondominium located on Marco Island, abeautiful island off the Southwest side ofFlorida.TheGulfviewClubCondo’s residentsmainlyconsistofseasonalretirees.

system: A6”steellinefortheinboundpotablewatersystemthatrunsfromthepumproomthroughtheelectricalvault,undergroundtoaserviceclosetandthenverticallyuptoanaccessclosetonthe10thfloorofthebuilding.

situation: Thecustomerknewthattheagedpotablewatermainhadextremebuild-up,becauseitexperiencedreducedflowandshowedsignsofcorrosionatmechanicalcouplers.Ifthepipewasnotcleanedandlinedsoon,itwouldputthebuildingandcablevaultatriskofeventualfailure,whichwouldleadtoalloftheentirecondobeingwithoutwater.

Sinceportionsofthepiperanunderground,atraditionalre-pipewasnotfeasible.Thealternativewouldhavebeentorunanexternalmainoutsidethebuilding,whichthecustomerdidnotwant,becauseitwouldnegativelyaffecttheaestheticappealoftheproperty.Thecustomeralsowantedtominimizedestructionandinconvenienceasmuchaspossible.

solution:NuFlowwasabletocleanandlinethe6”watermainbyusingexistingaccesspoints,whichpreventedanyholeshavingtobeputinthebuildingorproperty.Ourtechniciansrehabilitatedthelateralandverticalpotablelineswithourblown-inepoxycoating,whichcreatedaprotectivecoatingwithinthehostpipe.NuFlowprovidedtemporarywater to thebuildinganddidnothave toenteranyunits, so the residentswerenotdisruptedorinconvenienced.

“Timingwasthekeyhere,”saidGrantDuxbury,NuFlowRegionalManager.“NuFlowwasabletocompletetheentireprocessinoneweek.”

Case study: CabrilloTowers

Cabrillo Tower’s horizontal sewer drain lines, inconveniently encased in deep concrete in the ceiling of thecondominium’sparkinggarage,experiencedchronic leaking.Thepropertymanagerdidnotknowwhat todoabouttheseagedpipes,becauseatraditionalre-pipewouldbeimpossible.HewasrelievedtolearnaboutNuFlow’strenchless,Pull-in-Placestructurallining-itprovedtobetheidealsolution.

Project:Cleanandlineleakinghorizontaldrainlinesinsidethecondo’sparkinggarageandlinethesewersystem’smainlinewithourno-digstructuralliningtechnology.

Customer and site: Cabrillo Tower HOA consists of theresidents of Cabrillo Tower, a lavish 15-story high-risecondominium perched on the beach inCoronado,California.CabrilloToweristheoldestof10largeluxurycondosbuiltonCoronadoBeach.

system: All of the horizontal cast iron sewer pipes locatedin theparkinggarageand the10” cast iron sewermain line.Thehorizontalsewerlinespenetratethrough4-or5-foot-thickconcreteslabsinthewallsandceilingsandconsistof3”,4”,6”and8”diameters.Allpipesaretheoriginalsthathavebeenonthepropertysincethecondominiumwasbuiltin1970.

situation:Corrosion andold age caused the horizontal castirondrainpipes in thecondo’sparkinggarage to leak.Sincethepipespassthroughthickconcreteslabswithoutprotectivesleeving, a traditional re-pipe was impossible. The customerwasapproachedbyNuFlowandwashappy tohear thatwehaveasolutiontohisuniqueproblemthatheotherwisecouldnotsolve.

solution:NuFlow rehabilitated thesewerpipes in theparkinggaragebyusingexistingaccesspoints.Thestructurallining,installedwithourpatentedtrenchlesstechnology,coversthecracksandisalong-termprotectivesolutionagainstfuturecorrosionandleaks.

CabrilloTowerdecidedtohaveNuFlowlinethebuilding’s10”mainlineaswellforpreventativemeasures.Thismainlineislocatedbeneaththeparkinggarageandcommongrounds,soNuFlowsavedthecustomerfromfutureheadaches,expensesanddestruction.

The jobwasperformedwithoutanymajordisruption to the tenantsor the functioningof theparkinggarage.Therewasonetechnicalitythatoccurredduringthescopeofthework,butthepropertymanagersaidNuFlowtechniciansrespondedinanexcellentmanner.Afullcrewwassentimmediatelyandthetechniciansstayedatthejobsiteuntiltheproblemwascompletelyfixed.

NuFlowisproudtobeCabrilloTower’ssavinggrace.Achallengingpipelocationshouldnotbeadeterrentfromgetting thepipes rehabilitated.NuFlowhas the technology todesign theperfectsolution foryourbuilding’s

Several timesayear,NuFlowholds technologydemonstrations for new and experiencedlicensees as well as the general public. Theseinformative, practical events rotate between theNuFlowofficesinSanDiego,Toronto,SarasotaandAtlanta.

Thesessionsaretwodaysinlengthandshowcasetwo separate technologies: structural liners andepoxy coatings. Both demonstrations consistof theory in a classroom setting and a practical“handson”component.

The structural liner demonstration shows howto properly prepare a liner, building the ends(creatingtheairtightrubberendsoftheinflatablebladderthatisinsideoftheliner)andthenwettingout(impregnatingthefeltlinerwithepoxy).Next,thelinerispulledintoplaceusingaprecutPVCpipe,simulatingasewerlateral.Thetechniciansthenshowhowthelinercanstopandstartanywhereinthepipepullingthelinerfirmlyintoplace.Afterthecuringprocessiscomplete,thebladderisremovedandattendeescanseeandfeelthefinishedproduct.

Theepoxycoatingsdemoalsousestwotechnicians:onetoexplaintheprocesstotheaudienceandanothertomonitorthecompressedairatalltimes.Amazeofclear1”pipeissetuponthetrainingwall.Thetechsexplainthecleaningprocess thatusesacleanparticulateandwarmair.This isn’t demonstrated for safety reasonsbecausetheparticulatethatwouldcleantheinsideofametalpipewouldcutrightthroughthePVCpipe.Shotsofepoxyarethensentthroughthepipesinisolatedruns,usingcompressedairfortotalcontrolofthespeedanddirectionoftheepoxy.Theresultisathin,evencoatthroughouttheentiresystem.BecauseoftheclearPVC,attendeesgetan“x-ray”viewoftheepoxytravellinginsidethepipe.

DependingonprojectschedulesNuFlowwillalsoofferattendeesliveon-sitedemonstrations.

Customer and site:yorkdaleShoppingCentre inToronto,Ontario,isthefifthlargestshoppingcenterinCanada.Thisprestigiousmallcontainsmorethan240storesandservicesandproduces thehighestsalespersquarefootofanyCanadianmall.

system: A 25-year-old cast iron sanitary drainsystem that runsalongaparkinggarage’sceiling.Halfof the6”-widepipesareencased inconcrete,whichmakes them impossible to access for a re-pipe.

situation: yorkdale Shopping Centre was goingthrough a $60 million renovation and expansionproject to add more than 180,000 square feet ofspacewhentheynoticedcracksintheagedsanitarydrainpipes.Thepipesystem, located inaparkinggarage’s ceiling, mainly leaked where the pipeswereenclosedinconcrete,whichmadeatraditionalre-pipeunfeasible.Themallcouldnotaffordtoclosethe parking structure or inconvenience customersduringthework.

solution:NuFlowwasabletoretrofittheagedandcrackeddrainpipesintwodays.Afterwecleanedthepipes,weinstalledourpatentedPull-in-Placestructuralliningthroughexistingaccesspoints,therebynotcausinganydestructiontotheparkinggarage.Anew,seamless,protectivepipewascreatedinsidethehostpipes.

NuFlow’strenchlesssolutionwasnotonlymoreconvenientandcost-effectiveforthecustomer,butalsoeco-friendly,becausethehostpipesremainandthereisnowastefromconstruction.NuFlowperformedalloftheworkatnight,sotherewasnodisruptiontotenantsorcustomersduringtheshoppingcentre’sbusinesshours.
