WHERE I’M FROMDustin Clark

I’m from crowded streets

with stories to tell

The walking city

with buildings to the sky

Burdened by a sheet of white

that comes knee high

Not many memories of my original place

only dreams of remembrance left in my case

I moved down 5 states to a more rural place

a place where my memories overwhelm my mind

From hot summers of eating Dairy

Queen

and bailing hay

To cold winters of sledding

and watching wood burn

from a flame

With fall of colors vibrant enough to brighten any day

to spring where the Japanese

maple bloomed all day

Once again I moved on to a new place

A place of

tar Heels and Deacons

with some Blue Devils and a wolfpack

I’m fro

m a place where the air is crisp to

breathe

an area so peaceful and

beautiful

where you can hear the rustle of the leaves

I now call this home

and have for 8 years

Although the thought of my prior home

can leave me fighting back the

tears

So here I am now, becoming who I want to be

with only the thoughts of crowded

streetsand a blooming Japanese maple

tree
