NOTICE OF CHARGE CONFERENCE There will be a called Charge Conference on May 10, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Youth Room for the purpose of recommending/nominating Brian Inman for Candidacy for Pastoral Ministry as a Local Licensed Pastor in the Holston Conference. This Charge Conference will be held as part of the regular Church Council meeting. All are welcome to attend. This may be a question you ask yourself as you walk through the church doors. The pinwheels have been placed at the foot of the cross during the month of April to get the word out about child abuse prevention. The pinwheel has come to be known as the national symbol of a happy and healthy childhood for all children. The Pinwheels have been donated by this year’s VBS Mission Project, New Hope, Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center. The center provides forensic inter- views, medical exams and therapy services. It also has advocates who walk with the victims as they navigate through the legal system. It’s all about raising aware- ness for child abuse prevention and taking necessary steps to prevent it. The Stewards of Training that New Hope provides free of charge is part of their awareness campaign. Check out their website for location and detailed information at blountkids.org As we offer support from our church, we want to help raise awareness by creating a low maintenance garden area on our church property. Donations of flowers, seeds and plants would be helpful to create a small sanctuary of grace for the children of Blount County. You will hear more about this agency during our VBS this year. We are excited to support a local organization that needs help and encouragement in our own back- yard. “We are all stewards of Children” is the center’s mission! Christian Sympathy...The family of Laura Gourley, who passed away on March 31.

Thank You!!!Dear Alcoa FUMC Friends:

Thank you, friends, for all your prayers and support during the last days of Mom’s life and those following her death. Our entire family joins in saying how much we appreciate all your kindnesses. Even during her declining years, Mom was very interested in what was going on at her church; she read the newsletter from cover to cover and continued to be a financial contributor as well as a prayer partner with you until the very end of her life. Your continued prayers are much appreciated as we learn to live our lives without her earthly presence.

The family of Virginia Campbell.

Dear Church Family,

Hello!! I hope this finds you having a wonderful day!! I am so excited to be writing my first newsletter article as the Music Minister at FUMC Alcoa!! Bonnie and I are so blessed to be serving alongside you, and look forward to what the Lord has in store, as we serve Him together to further His kingdom!! There are exciting things already going on here, and we are ready to jump right in alongside you!! Some things that are in the works for the Music Ministry are:

Formation of a Student Creative Ministries Ensemble which will begin on Sunday, May 20 at 5:30 pm in the Chapel. We will be doing some fun and exciting things in this group using black light worship, singing, and interpretive worship! If you are in Middle School, High School, or College, please come and join us!! Can’t wait to get started! We are always looking for people to lend their God given gifts and talents in the choir, media ministry and orchestra! If you sing, are gifted in media/sound, or play an instrument, there is a place for you to serve our great God at FUMC Alcoa!!

Didn’t the kids do an INCREDIBLE job singing in church recently?!! Thank you for that wonderful blessing!! Thank you for the leaders that work with and minister to our children! Speaking of that, come and be a part of our exciting children’s choirs, they have a blast praising God, and we look forward to hearing them again soon!!

Thank you for the leadership of our Tech Team that works so diligently in the media ministry and our incredible Musicians and Praise Team, all of whose gifts of technology, music and voice are such a blessing to our church!!! The Chancel Choir will be getting together soon for a cookout and a great time of fellowship! What better time to come and check out what is going on, and have a great time in the Lord!! Stay tuned for details! We would LOVE for you to join us!! It is truly a joy to be serving with you!! Thank you for your prayers, and words of encouragement! We love and appreciate each of you!!

In His Service,

Blake
