Robotics technologies are reshaping the way companies produce and how humans work. Robots are fully integrated in the ecosystem and in production processes.

They collaborate with humans, support daily and repetitive activities, and replace workers in dangerous tasks.

THE ROBOT ERA IS NOW, helping humans everywhere.

EUROPE WILL SPEND

ON ROBOTICS TECHNOLOGIES IN 2022

Robotics is a well-established technology in Europe, the fourth largest region in terms of spending at a worldwide level.

European spending in 2018 is forecast at $15 billion, with a global share of more than 15%, and a 2017–2022 CAGR of around 10%.

Western Europe's share accounts for 13%, with slower growth than the region as a whole, indicating a more mature market than the rest of Europe.

$21 BILLION

WHERE ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES?

The more tasks that can be performed by robots and drones, the wider the applications in dierent industries.

Robotics is not an opportunity for the manufacturing sector alone. Retail and wholesale are promising markets in Western Europe, as well as utilities, transportation, and government.

WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?

It is important to go beyond thetraditional use cases, to combinerobotics with other technologiesand always be at the forefrontof innovation and at the paceof market demand.

TOP 5 USE CASES

The most widespread uses of robots and drones are for mixing, welding, assembly, and painting, as well as consumer uses. These five use cases account for 60% of total spending in Western Europe, among more than 50 use cases in the IDC spending guide.

Inspection, such as at nuclear plants and transformer substations, is one of the smaller but faster growing use cases. Other uses are for livestock monitoring, bailing, dispensing pesticides and fertilizer, and emergency services.

ROBOTICS ADOPTION

MIXING

Robots are now working in collaboration with humans and performing tasks that cannot be done by humans, and the future of work requires increasing eciency in that collaboration.

Ecient collaboration is the step forward that companies have to achieve.
