As a School Counselor I focus on three domains –
Social/Emotional – Academic – College/Career
• School-Wide Support/Resources (Peace Week, Anti-Bullying, and much more)
• Tiered Supports- Recorded Lessons, Read Alouds, SEL Resources, etc.
• Collaborative Approach – Parent Support/Resources• Through Jupiter I will be sharing at home coping strategies,
Google Form parents/guardians can fill out if interested in receiving outside services such as housing assistance, grief
support groups, would like me to talk to your child, etc.

Canvas/Clever
Canvas is our learning management system for all PPCS students.
Clever is a single sign-on (SSO) portal that houses learning online resources and content. This means
that the student portal will have apps to access programs such as i-Ready, BrainPopjr., Canvas, Think
Central and more by going to one place.
Jupiter Grades
Jupiter Ed is used for parent communication, grading, progress reports, report cards, and
attendance.
Zoom Etiquette
• Be on time and prepared.• Find a quiet place free of distractions.
• Be respectful at all times. • Stay on mute. Click the raise hand button if you
have a question or something to share. • Stay focused and on task so you don’t miss
anything the teacher has to say.
Uniform Policy
PPCS has a mandatory uniform policy. Students are required to wear their uniform while they are

• Students are to log into their classes daily and participate in Zoom lessons. • Parents will be contacted if their child is not attending Zoom lessons.
• Attendance will be taken during home room from 8:40 - 9:00.• If students login and participate after 9:00 they will be marked tardy.
Absences• It is imperative that your child attends daily so that he or she doesn’t fall behind.

Some specials teachers will require a specific folder for each of their subjects.A list of needed materials will be sent the week before each lesson.
Behavior and etiquette expectations will closely follow classroom teachers’ protocols.
** More subject specific information will be given during the first week of lessons.**
Curriculum
Our second grade curriculum will promote mastery of addition and subtraction as well as
expand their understanding of reading and writing. They will develop more complex skills as they get used to reading longer texts and read about different topics in social studies, science
and language arts.
Home CareFor School Materials
● To help your child during this time, it is important for your child to have a dedicated space for school related materials.
● Any materials that are damaged/lost will NOT be replaced by the school. Materials will have to be purchased/replaced by
the parent. ● Some suggestions for easy storage are plastic bins from
Dollar Tree or a plastic drawer system found at Target and Walmart.
● Tentative Material Pick Up Date is: August 25th.
Accelerated Reader
● Students are required to read AR book(s) on their reading level.
● AR goals are set based on the STAR assessment.● Goals must be met each quarter.
● AR will account for 2 grades each quarter.○ Average comprehension score.
○ Percentage of goal met.● Students need to read 20 minutes daily.
AR Digital Books
● To help students read and achieve their AR goals a few online programs are available.

○ Libby (Broward County Library)● More information on how to use these
programs is forthcoming.
i-Ready
• Required as part of the school- wide reading/math plan for instruction.
• Students are required to completed 45 minutes in both math and reading every week
(INDEPENDENTLY). • Students will record their progress using an
i-Ready tracking tool.
Home Testing Procedures
• How do you help your child during scheduled testing?
• Sit in a quiet place.• NO distractions.
• Make sure your child is on the correct screen for testing.
• Please do not help answer any questions. **Following these steps will help me help your child.**
Supplies
● The supply list can be found on the East Campus website.http://eastcampus.pinescharter.net/○ Parents■ Supplies
● Supplies will NOT be shared.● Supplies MUST be labeled with your child’s name.
Service Hours
● 30 volunteer hours required per family.● Families will receive 3 volunteer hours for attending open house. ● 3 hours for completing the following:
○ online First Day Packet ○ online acknowledgements○ turning in PAPER COPY of code of conduct and emergency

Homework
• Reading and Math Homework will be assigned Monday-Thursday. Along with writing homework on
Wednesday, students are required to read 20 minutes nighty.
• AR logs will be completed by students.• All assignments will have a due date.
• You will be notified via Jupiter Grades or Canvas if homework or classwork is missing or incomplete.
Agenda
• Homework will be posted on Canvas during e-learning.
• Spelling/Vocabulary Words for the week will be posted in the module for the week.
• Making a weekly schedule for e-learning at home is suggested.
ConferenceProcedures
• An invitation will be sent via Bloomz to set up a Zoom conference.
• Zoom conferences are ONLY to discuss your child's academic progress/behavior.
• Choose a scheduled time that is best for you and your family.
• Conferences will last approximately 15 minutes.
