EMUS, MI — BanditIndustries has an-nounced that the compa-ny will remain privatelyowned, in the hands ofcurrent owners JerryMorey, Mike Morey Sr.and Dianne Morey. Thethree have elected toturn down the offer fromAlamo Group Inc., negat-ing Alamo’s pending ac-quisition of Bandit.

“Alamo is an exception-al company and we arevery honored that they’veshown such an interestin Bandit and our corpo-rate culture,” said BanditIndustries President Jer-ry Morey. “We sharemany common ideas andvisions, and we are grate-ful for the relationshipswe’ve built. Because of Texas’s immense size and topography, climate changes dramatically from one side of thestate to the other. While far west Texas is arid receiv-ing little rainfall, Southeast Texas is warmer in thewinter and cooler in the summer. On average, thatarea is the wettest part of the state. As a result, a drive through Southeast Texas reveals

many areas of dense vegetation, including centuries-old pecan, oak and hackberry trees. There’s even anarea appropriately named Big Thicket — located justnorth and northwest of the city of Beaumont — thatboasts a varied ecology of piney woods, swamps andcoastal prairies.

It’s not unusual for the area referred as the GoldenTriangle (Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange) toreceive upwards of 60-inches of rain annually. It’shere, among the stately oaks and dense mesquitethickets of east Texas, that in 2012, Go GreenServices was called upon by pipeline installationcontractor Pumpco Inc. of Giddings, Texas, to clear90-foot wide path for a natural gas pipeline.

“The amount of trees was unimaginable,” saysTerrell Sims, sales manager with Go Green Services,

College Station, Texas. “There are miles and miles ofhuge, established pecans, oaks and hackberries with

trunks of enormous diameter; along with thickbrush, a lot of mesquite — just about everythingwoody imaginable. We know the area well andbecause of that, we have reliable and durable grind-ing equipment to handle the wood and brush.”

As they began their work, the Go Green Servicesland clearing teams encountered numerous marshywetlands, several fences and different landownerright of way crossings. They also crossed occasionalroadways along the route. Together, thesehindrances, in addition to Mother Nature’s springdeluges, inhibited production efficiencies. “What wecouldn’t control, however, was all the rain and mud.It rained almost continuously, making it one of themost challenging land clearing jobs we’ve ever takenon,” says Sims.

Mud mats required“The grinders we own are awesome,” Sims says.

“Oak, hackberry, pecan and mesquite are all veryhard wood and tough to grind. We chose theHG6000TX on tracks for this job, primarily becauseit is easier to get into the limited space we had, andbecause it’s lighter than the HG8000TX. Because ofthe mud and marshes, we had to position the grinderon mats at all times; otherwise, the machine wouldhave sunk into the muddy, marshy soil. Aside fromthe challenging conditions, the toughness and sheermagnitude of the wood really put the capabilities ofthe HG6000TX grinder to the test.”

Sims estimates the HG6000TX grinder was in useapproximately eight hours every day, with periodictimeouts for inspection and servicing. He says properservicing is critical for achieving maximum produc-tion rates and advises fellow land-clearing contrac-tors to remain diligent in taking good care of equip-ment.

According to Shaun Bruect, project superintendentfor Go Green Services, most of the wood wasprocessed with the company’s Vermeer HG6000TXhorizontal grinder and was outfitted with a 6-inchscreen. For much of the project, the ground wood wasmixed in with topsoil to serve as a stabilizer andimpediment to erosion unless otherwise specified byindividual landowners. In those instances, the woodymaterial was hauled to a site nearby where Go GreenServices ground the woody material with theirVermeer HG8000TX grinder.

The entire scope of the project spanned more than

420 miles with terrain ranging from rolling hills tosoggy, marshy bottoms. That combined with the hugetrunks, branches and tough wood fibers of the large, established trees, made the job more challenging.Mesquite is an extremely hard wood that can reach aheight of 10 to 15-feet, although in most of its range,it tends to remain shrub size. Mesquite, combinedwith the bushy, shrub-like blackbrush, is often diffi-cult to remove and to grind.“The hills we did encounter aren’t all that steep orbig; it’s just that when you have a hill, you’re going toencounter a bottom,” says Bruect. “There were also alot of creek beds. So crossing all the creeks poseddelays moving ahead. It was really boggy type land.”

“And I don’t remember a year when we’ve had somuch rain — consistent rains — in east Texas,” headds. “There was what seemed liked several weeks ina row when we’d get a downpour on Thursday, forc-ing us to shut down for a day or two afterwards justbecause we couldn’t access the site. Then we’d try tomake up for lost days over the weekend, so we couldstay ahead of the pipeline crews.”

“There were many times when, because of theweather, we were loading logs with the weldedpipeline already laid out ready for installation,” herecalls. “So the rain not only affected our clearing theright of way; but it also made it difficult for Pumpcoto trench for the pipeline. We’d never seen anythinglike it.”

“We’ve been really pleased with the reliability andtoughness of our grinders, yet, even the best equip-ment is going to need repairs,” Sims says. “But thefrequency of such repairs can be minimized withproper servicing and maintenance. Obviously, thewet conditions were particularly hard on the equip-ment. I know that there were times when we mayhave forced materials in both grinders that were toowet for any equipment to process efficiently.”

“But at the end of the day, we know we have a deal-er in Vermeer Texas/Louisiana and manufacturerthat we can rely on when something happens that wecan’t fix ourselves. They’ve saved us many times;they’re responsive and understand how important itis that we stay up and running. When there’s apipeline installer closing in not far behind, we can’tafford not to be moving forward.”

Bandit Industries nowoffers a Card Breaker Sys-tem for hand fed andwhole tree drum stylechippers. The Card Break-er works similar to ascreening system, restrict-ing oversized materialfrom exiting the machine. The system is optional formost Bandit drum stylechippers, creating an evenhigher quality wood chipthat is well suited for usein expanding biomass en-

ergy markets.“Chips of relatively uni-

form size and shape aremuch preferred for use inbiomass fuel wood appli-cations,” said JasonMorey, Bandit Industriessales manager. “By creat-ing a better chip, our cus-tomers can have a betterproduct to sell on the bio-mass fuel market.”

Bandit’s Card Breakerdoesn’t subtract fromBandit chippers’ leg-

endary throwing power —in fact, it benefits from it.Chips leave the drum atan incredible speed, withlarger sized chips hittingthe Card Breaker in-stalled in the discharge. This breaks the chipsdown further, resulting ina more uniform chipready for biofuel applica-tions. The Card BreakerSystem functions withoutthe need for additionalchip accelerating devices,

and overall machine pro-duction is unaffected.

At the most basic level, wood chips are beingused in biomass boilersto produce both heat andpower. These facilitiescan range in size fromlarge regional powerplants to small, singlehome heating systems.Outside this scope, sever-al companies are convert-ing wood chips into a pe-troleum product thatcould one day be a com-mercially viable alterna-tive to fossil fuels. All

around the globe, peopleare turning to wood chipsto either supplement en-ergy production, or tooutright replace it. Theresult is an industry thatis rapidly expanding.

Many professionals us-ing hand fed chippersaren’t selling chips for bio-mass use. Just the oppo-site; they often have to payto dispose of their chips.

“Bandit is already aleader when it comes toquality and uniformity ofits chips,” said Christo-pher Smith, Bandit In-

dustries marketing andcommunications director.“With our Card BreakerSystem, producers canmake a higher qualityproduct that can open upnew revenue streams. In-stead of paying to dumptheir chips, they could begetting paid for a valuableend product.”

The East Coast’slargest privately heldscrap metal processoracquires the assets of

Ben Weitsman an-nounced the asset acqui-sition of Jack’s Recyclingin Mt. Morris, PA today. This deal comes on theheels of acquisitions ofthe assets of additionalyards in Albany as well asHornell, marking thethird acquisition thismonth for the company. The all cash transactionwill close in approximate-ly 30 days.

“This is a great strate-gic move for expandingour reach throughout theNortheast, especially withour two new shreddersbeing built in Albany, NYand New Castle, PA. Wedo not yet have a locationin this region of theNortheast so this acquisi-tion is filling a great needto serve Mt. Morris andthe surrounding regions,”said Adam Weitsman, owner of Upstate Shred-ding and Ben Weitsman.

Founded in 1962,Jack’s Recycling has tak-en its 105 years of com-bined industry experi-ence and emerged as aleader in the area for autoand scrap (ferrous andnonferrous) recycling. The yard is located at 226Mt. Morris Road in Mt.Morris, PA, just North ofthe West Virginia stateborder and 65 milessouth of Pittsburgh, PA.Currently at 11 employ-ees, the new Ben Weits-man of Mt. The brisk ex-pansion of the companyis propelled forward byseven day a week serviceand top pricing in the in-dustry, which allows theprivately owned scrapcompany to directly com-pete with multi-nationalpublic companies.

“We have worked hardto become the scrapleader within a 60 mileradius around Mt. Mor-ris. It was very importantto us to find a suitablecompany that can contin-ue to grow this facilityand serve our area evenbetter. We have looked ata number of acquisitionpartners and Upstate

oncrete products are manufactured to lastalmost forever. So why discard the sturdymaterial just because the useful life of abuilding or highway has ended? Sending oldconcrete to a landfill didn’t make sense to

Terry McAfee and his son David. As a result, theyembarked on a mission to recycle concrete, andSandvik equipment is helping them.

The McAfees, who own DT Specialized Services Inc.

in Tulsa, OK, oversee demolition projects across thelower Midwestern United States. Five years ago, whilethey were in the process of tearing down a concretestructure, they decided that the project created anunusually large pile of refuse material. That’s whentheir thinking changed.

“We realized the sheer volume of concrete debris wecreated was going to be wasted, rather than recycled. That was the cornerstone of our decision to start the

crushing business,” says Terry McAfee. The result isan affiliated company that they started, calledReRock Materials, Inc. Through ReRock, the McAfeesare committed to recycling as an environmental bestpractice, even though they live in a region wherenatural aggregate is in ample supply and landfill feesare low. ReRock Materials, Inc. creates recycledconcrete and aggregate products.

“We want to recycle a large amount of concrete perproject,” David McAfee says. “But we are not doingthis because, hey, this is a windfall. We are doing itas a commitment to the recycling industry.”

While McAfee was experienced in construction anddemolition management, he was a novice recycler. Hehad seen a rock crusher at ConExpo, so he wentshopping for more information. After visitingrecycling operations and looking over different brandsof crushers, in 2008 he finally bought a mobile jawcrusher and began recycling.

It was during this time that his meeting with BrianCostello, co-founder and sales director of CrushingTigers, took place. Crushing Tigers are suppliers ofmobile crushers, screening machines and spare partsin the Oklahoma and Arkansas markets. Costellosold McAfee an Extec S-3 screen, currently known asthe Sandvik QA140, a tracked unit with a 10-foot x 5-foot double deck screen.

It exceeded McAfee’s expectations. More important-ly, when McAfee discovered that not only did Costellosell reliable products, but he was also was knowl-edgeable about the industry. That was when he beganto look to Costello for other industry insight.

Helpful dealerMcAfee learned that when Costello and managing

director Pat Doab started Crushing Tigers, they did so

with the intention of guiding customers toward moreefficient crushing and screening operations. Withthat in mind, Crushing Tigers took a critical look atDT and concluded that a secondary crusher wouldprovide more efficiency for DT operations. The prob-lem was that David McAfee was not in the market foranother crusher!

To convince McAfee, the team demonstrated aSandvik QI240 PriSec™ mobile impact crusher. Theirdemonstration and subsequent analysis showed thatwhile the overhead of a second machine added to thecrushing process, the cost per ton of crushedconcrete decreased. Costello and Doab repeatedlycrunched the numbers with David McAfee until therewas no question in McAfee’s mind.

“Before adding the Sandvik crusher, we werenormally producing 30-50 tons of sellable productsper hour,” McAfee says. “Now, if we are not doing 200tons an hour, there is something wrong.”

That massive increase in production makes alltheir numbers look good. The addition of the SandvikQI240 reduced the cost per ton to one third of itsoriginal cost. Furthermore, with the QI240’s four barrotor turning irregular chunks into uniform nuggets, reliance on the original jaw crusher was lessened, extending its working life.

At DT Technologies, the QI240 is used primarily, but not exclusively, as a secondary crusher. Becausethe QI240 is the only impact crusher on the marketcapable of operating in either a primary or a second-ary position, the McAfees can use the machine ineither process. This unmatched versatility comesfrom the patented design of its impactor box.

And, it’s portableBesides the QI240’s operating efficiency, what sold

McAfee on it was its portability. The 43 ton crushermoves on 20-inch wide tracks, which makes trans-porting it on a lowboy, convenient. The compactmachine is just 8 feet wide and 46-feet long easilypermitable for companies wanting to operate thecrusher at more than one location.

“My bigger motivation in getting the QI240, asidefrom cost savings, was to have a machine I couldthrow on a trailer, run 500 tons of material in a dayat one location, then move it back off site,” he says.“Its mobility is key, especially with its quick setup.”

These two attributes of the QI240 — the efficiencyof the machine’s crushing process and its portability— have ushered in additional business at DT. This isbecause they are able to process more aggregate tosell by stockpiling it for future sales. Second, whenwork is slow at a demolition site, they move the QI240elsewhere for custom crushing.

“I’m glad we started doing business with CrushingTigers and Sandvik,” McAfee says. “We are betterthan we were before. Developing this relationship, coupled with the sharing of expert advice hascertainly improved our business.”

Such trusting relationships are precisely whatCostello and Doab want to forge with their customers, according to Doab, “The key is working together as apartnership. The relationship is important forsustainability, and the trust creates opportunities foreveryone.”

Respecting business decision-makers and support-ing crushing operations is what the people of SandvikConstruction Mobile Crushers and Screens in NorthAmerica do. A new office in Bensalem, PA, is staffedwith engineers and sales support specialists. It is

stocked with equipment parts to respond quickly todealer calls. “Sandvik equipment is superb,” says StuGamble, a Sandvik Business Line Manager for mobilecrushing and screening. “Keeping it operating atcrunch time is the real test of partnership. We wantto pass that test every time,” he says.

Costello adds that selling and servicing goodmachinery is gratifying, but becoming trusted part-ners with customers tops all. “I respect whatmachines can do,” he says. “But it is working withpeople that makes my day.”

AUBURN, IN — MetalX,LLC, a scrap metal recy-cling company, an-nounced plans today tolocate a new facility here, creating up to 80 newjobs by 2017.

The Waterloo, IN basedcompany will invest $12.4million to purchase, reno-vate and equip a 240,000square-foot industrial fa-cility at 1101 Oren Drivein Auburn. Located on a30 acre site with main linerail access, the companyexpects to commission itsfirst line in April, withplans to have the plant ful-ly operational by Septem-ber. The facility will allowMetalX to develop a con-solidated nonferrous met-al recycling and reclama-tion operation that will becapable of recycling morethan 100 million poundsof nonferrous metals peryear, half of which will bereclaimed from materialstreams previously goingto landfills.

“Indiana’s economycontinues to operate withhomegrown-Hoosier com-panies as our foundation,”said Governor MikePence. “They are responsi-ble for significant job cre-ation and are key to help-ing bolster the growth ofour state. With our lowtaxes, best in the nationworkforce and central lo-cation, the Hoosier Statehas developed an idealbusiness climate, allowingcompanies like MetalX tostay close to home andmaking Indiana a statethat works.”

MetalX, which current-ly employs more than 100Indiana associates, plansto begin hiring for theAuburn facility nextmonth. Interested appli-cants may apply by visit-ing the company’s Water-loo headquarters at 295South Commerce Drive oremailing the company’shuman resources depart-

“We are pleased to con-firm that we will locateour newest operation inIndiana, and in particu-lar, in the city ofAuburn,” said DannyRifkin, president andchief executive officer ofMetalX. “We recognize theeffort that has been re-quired on the part of themayor and city council, the DeKalb County Eco-nomic Development Part-nership and the IEDC towork together with us onthis project, and areproud to continue ex-panding in our homestate. Job creation is thefoundation for a sounddomestic economy, andwe appreciate the assis-tance to help facilitatenew Indiana jobs.”

With family roots inscrap metal dating backto 1943, MetalX is a full-service scrap metal recy-cling company thatprocesses and distributesall grades of ferrous andnon-ferrous scrap metals.MetalX was founded byDanny and Neal Rifkin, third and fourth genera-tion members of theRifkin family, which hadowned and managed Om-niSource Corporation un-til it became part of SteelDynamics in 2007. Met-alX opened its first facili-ty on a 70 acre site in Wa-terloo and has grownfrom 12 employees tomore than 100 in justmore than a year.

The Indiana EconomicDevelopment Corporationoffered MetalX, LLC up to$725,000 in conditionaltax credits and up to$40,000 in training grantsbased on the company’sjob creation plans. Thesetax credits are perform-ance based, meaning untilHoosiers are hired, thecompany is not eligible toclaim incentives. The city

of Auburn also approvedadditional incentives atthe request of the DeKalbCounty Economic Devel-opment Partnership.

“We’re very pleased thatMetalX has chosen to lo-cate its new recycling fa-cility here in Auburn,”said Auburn Mayor NormYoder. “It occupies a va-cant industrial building, bringing the facility to lifeto create many new jobsfor our community.”

Indiana led the nation inits percentage of privatesector job growth in No-vember, coming in secondin the race to add the high-est number of total jobsthat month. That growth, which includes 25,300new Hoosier jobs, is thelargest one month increasein Indiana on record.

MetalX is a scrap metalrecycling company thatdeals in all types of fer-rous and nonferrousscrap metals and metal-bearing waste streams. The company buys scrapfrom industrial genera-tors, wholesale suppliersand the general public, then as a processor, transforms various typesof scrap into a form thatcan be used as a key rawmaterial in the produc-tion of secondary prod-ucts like steel, aluminumand copper wire and tub-ing, which then serve asthe base materials fornew metal products andcomponents.

Headquartered in Wa-terloo, Indiana, the com-pany will now operatemetal recycling and scrapprocessing facilities inWaterloo, Fort Wayne andAuburn, Indiana, as wellas a joint venture inBirmingham, AL. In addi-tion, MetalX offers cus-tomized consulting andmanagement services toindustrial scrap genera-tors throughout the U.S.

place the former Depart-ment of Commerce, theIndiana Economic Devel-opment Corporation isgoverned by a 12 memberboard chaired by Gover-nor Mike Pence. VictorSmith serves as the Indi-ana Secretary of Com-merce and Eric Doden is

the president of theIEDC. The IEDC overseesprograms enacted by theGeneral Assembly includ-ing tax credits, workforcetraining grants and pub-lic infrastructure assis-tance. All tax credits areperformance based. Therefore, companies

must first invest in Indi-ana through job creationor capital investment be-fore incentives are paid. Acompany who does notmeet its full projectionsonly receives a percent-age of the incentives pro-portional to its actual in-vestment.

Equip Sales & LeasingCorp. and its employeeshave a combined 50 yearsof experience in thecrushing, screening andrecycling industry. Theyhave operated and soldvarious makes of crush-ers and screeners, butwhen it came to the deci-sion of which machinethe company wanted torepresent and add to itsrental fleet, the RocksterDuplex System was theideal fit.

The unique Duplex System was a strong

argumentJoe Collazo, sales man-

ager of Equip Sales says:"Rockster crushers helpedfill the void in the fleet aswe didn't have a closedcircuit machine capable ofproducing spec material, and the fact that the ma-chine can be switchedfrom Jaw to Impactormade it an even easier de-cision for our company. The unique design of the

duplex system allowed usto get maximum utilizationof the machine, as it canbe used in various appli-

cation from virgin stone torecycled asphalt and con-crete." Rockster has de-veloped the duplex sys-

tem which has beenpatented for already eightyears now. It enables theexchange of impactcrusher and jaw crusher

and vice versa on one ba-sic chassis within a fewhours. This technologyallows flexible recycling, operating with hardstone, asphalt, concreteor any other C&D. Thehydrostatic drive systemprovides the technicalbase for this highly so-phisticated system: It al-lows a continuous variation ofthe crusher speed as wellas a clockwise or anti-clockwise operation of thecrusher (or vice versa).Through this drive sys-tem Rockster's customershave the advantages of agreat operation conven-ience, and due to the ab-sence of a conventionalclutch it is free of wear. Moreover the mainte-nance is simple and highperformance across allapplications due to anoptimal adaptation to thevarious requirements isguaranteed.

100 percent defined final grain

Moreover the idealmeasures of the machinewhich allow to transportthe crusher including thescreening box and the re-turn belt with one truckwere important for choos-ing Rockster machines.

Equip Sales puts greatemphasis on good per-formance and needs highvalue, cubic final grain sothey chose the optionalscreening box and the re-turn belt to work with aclosed circuit and pro-duce 100 percent defin-able final grain. Addition-ally you have the possi-bility to use it as stock-pile conveyor with a dis-charge height of up to 4meters.Mr. Collazo is very satis-

fied with Rockster: "Threeyears and almost 4000hours later the machinecontinues to perform andshock our customers withits production and materi-al quality despite its com-pact size."

For the dealers and customers of SandvikConstruction Mobile Crushers and Screens in NorthAmerica, the recent opening of the company’s distri-bution center in Bensalem, PA has been a “feather inthe cap” of Sandvik Mobile when it comes to productsales support. According to Stu Gamble, BusinessLine manager for Sandvik Mobile Crushers andScreens in the Eastern U.S., Sandvik dealers andcustomers have Charles Hillmann and John Walsh,Sandvik executives for North America, to thank forthis move, which took place in mid-2013. Since itsopening, the centralization of parts and equipment inone location has given Sandvik customers the assur-ance that Sandvik is a company that they can counton for the parts and service after the sale, one of themost important parts of large equipment sales of anykind.

“When Mr. Hillmann was approached with the ideaof consolidating our equipment setup and partsdistribution at one location, he recognized the advan-tages of making this kind of move,” said Gamble.“Since our sales had increased significantly in thepast two years, he realized that by being able toinspect the new equipment as it arrived in the U.S.and then being able to stage it for sale and immedi-ate delivery was a tremendous selling tool for ourdealer network in the U.S. More importantly, he couldsee the value of having a parts inventory that couldmeet the needs of our dealer and customer networkin such a way as to give them whatever they needed, whenever they needed it. We can supply approxi-mately 95 percent of all the parts that our end usersroutinely need, at any given time. That really helpsour customers eliminate downtime.”

Gamble said that since the opening of the distribu-tion center in Bensalem, they have also been able tooffer dealer support with equipment demonstrations,an added selling tool. “By being able to provide theequipment that a customer is considering forpurchase, we can give the dealer a piece of equipmentto place at the customer’s location to help them deter-mine if it is the right machine for their needs. That isextremely helpful to the dealer and customer alike.”

“We currently have 15 employees at the distributioncenter,” he said. “Originally, we did administrativework from our offices in Atlanta, and the parts wereshipped from a warehouse in the Chicago area. Now,we have everything at one location, which helps makethe process seamless. When dealers or customerscall, we can help them immediately and send theparts out right away.”

Gamble noted that with this new, expansive facili-ty, there is room to grow and add improvements inthe coming months. “We have some ideas for makingour facility even more supportive of our dealer

network,” he said. “We will be improving our facilitieshere as time passes. We have much to work withhere. The new site even has a heliport, which couldallow customers who fly, come here to see the lineupof equipment that we stock here at Bensalem. Rightnow, we have right enough inventory on hand to meetall of our needs. We want to be able to ship a productthe day it is sold.” For more information on SandvikMobile Equipment, visit their website at sandvikmo-biles.com or give them a call at 215-244-2035.

The signing of morethan 50 dealers in its firstsix months drove a signif-icant demand for KOBEL-CO excavators, a demandthat KOBELCO world-wide has diligentlyworked to supportthroughout 2013, andone that has helped thecompany regain marketshare within its first yearof independent operation.

“We couldn’t be morepleased with the early re-sults of our brand re-launch” states Pete Mori-ta, president and CEO ofKOBELCO ConstructionMachinery USA. “In just ashort time period we’vehired some of the indus-try’s most qualified per-sonnel, opened our tem-porary headquarters andparts warehouse andpartnered with our deal-ers to provide quality, competitively pricedproducts. All of these ini-tiatives are just the be-ginning of what we haveplanned for the NorthAmerican marketplace.”

KOBELCO Construc-tion Machinery’s fastpaced growth has result-ed in expedited plans tobuild a permanent U.S.based headquarters. Thecompany originally antic-ipated to build within fiveyears, but started makingit a priority this summer, scouting and selecting alocation before the closeof their first businessyear. In early December, the company will breakground on their new facil-ity in Katy, Texas, havingsigned a nine year leaseagreement with plans tooccupy the building bySeptember 2014. Thisnew, expansive 101,300-square-foot facility willnot only server as KO-BELCO’s North Americanheadquarters, but also asthe company’s trainingcenter and parts distribu-tion location for all of theUnited States, Canadaand Latin America. Theinvestment being made in

this building by KOBEL-CO signifies the compa-ny’s long term commit-ment to the North Ameri-can marketplace.

According to Ron Har-grave, vice president ofsales and marketing forKOBELCO Construction

Machinery USA, “The newfacility being built will al-low us to continue ourrapid growth. We arepleased to once again beoffering our products asan independent brandand are working diligent-ly to ensure KOBELCO

positions itself to gaincontinued market sharemoving forward. We aredriven by passion to be amarket leader of crawlerexcavators.”

Further supporting thecompany’s long termcommitment to the North

American market is itssignificant investment inConExpo/ConAgg 2014.A 165-foot x 210-foot out-door exhibit in silver lotbooth No. 4408, will markthe company’s homecom-ing to the show as an in-dependent brand after a

10 year hiatus. The ex-hibit will not only featureKOBELCO’s popular lineof crawler excavators, butalso a new line of demoli-tion machines. In addi-tion to equipment, the

Fecon Inc. introducesthe new FMA8039 hy-draulic powered millingattachment rated at 260-550 hp, to process soil, stumps and roots up to20-inches below grade. Amassive weight of ap-proximately 11,000pounds (depending onoptions) keeps the at-tachment engaged as car-bide tools cut through an80-inch wide path of ma-terial. The 8039 is ideallysuited for treating landalready cleared of stand-ing vegetation, oftenthrough logging, mulching or traditionalland clearing methods.

Applications includepipeline construction, commercial tree farmconstruction and prepa-ration planting, convert-ing land into tillableacreage, or land clearingfor new construction.

A 39-inch x 80-inchlarge diameter rotor hasan innovative structuraldesign and abrasion re-sistant steel for durabilityand performance acrossa wide range of soil condi-tions. Sixty-four carbidecutting tools provide abalance of performance, wear life and impactstrength in subsoil appli-cations. Dual hydraulic

motors deliver power tothe belt over gear box dri-veline to slow the rotorspeed, reduce abrasionand multiply torque topower through material. The standard trap doorcan be used to help con-tain and direct materialdownward, or an optionalcompacting roller cansmooth out and compactthe finely milled material.

The FMA8039 millingattachment can be con-figured with custommounts, hydraulic mo-tors and belt ratios to fitmany brands of track orwheeled carriers includ-ing Fecon’s FTX400 and

FTX600 track carriers. Fecon, Inc. was estab-

lished in 1992 nearCincinnati, Ohio andoriginally produced hori-zontal grinders and otherwood processing equip-

ment. Fecon now manu-factures forestry TrackCarriers, forestrymulching attachmentsand general forestry at-tachments for vegetationmanagement and wood to

energy biomass indus-tries and a seismic andgeothermal drilling line.Their Bull Hog mulcher isthe No. 1 selling forestrymulcher.

RENSSELAER, IN —Talbert Manufacturing, aleader in the heavy hauland specialty built trailerindustry, has introducedits 50 ton 5051 TravelingAxle trailer for customersthat need to comply with43-foot kingpin laws andregulations.

Kingpin laws vary stateto state but generally ap-ply to any trailer longerthan 48-feet and lessthan 53-feet. These regu-lations typically dictatethe maximum distancefrom the kingpin to thelast axle must measure43-feet or less. Adding toits series of traveling axletrailers, Talbert pushedthe deck length to thelimit, designing a 51-foottraveling axle trailer tomaximize the lower decklength and still meet the43-foot kingpin law.

Talbert’s TA Seriestrailers are known fortheir six degree load an-gle. This gradual slopeis ideal for the towingand recovery industry,as well as rental equip-ment and small to mid-size construction equip-ment with low groundclearances, such asrollers and pavers.

The 5051TA is loadedwith more standard fea-

tures than other conven-tional units in a basemodel, and it still deliverscost effective versatility ina variety of applications. For example, many othermanufacturers common-ly use worm gear winchesto cut extra expense. The15,000-pound planetarywinch, which comesstandard on all trailers inTalbert’s 50 ton TA Se-ries, provides customerswith a more efficientwinch. The planetarywinch uses a direct drivesystem and offers up totwice the loading speed ofthe worm gear winch. Op-erators can run Talbert’splanetary winch througha multi-function wirelessremote, which allows oneperson to load a piece ofequipment without leav-ing the trailer. This is ide-al for loading inoperablecars or machinery.

For reliable perform-ance in heavy duty indus-tries, Talbert’s 5051TAalso comprises a T-1 and80K steel beam con-structed framework and4-inch I-beam crossmem-bers on 9-inch centers toaccommodate more con-centrated loads. Further,the I-beam constructionprevents corrosion, un-like boxed crossmenbers

that tend to rust from theinside out.

Other standard fea-tures include 1-1/2-inchapitong flooring as well asside and center tiedowns. Apitong is a tight-ly woven, highly densewood that provides alonger wear life because itis less susceptible tochipping or cracking thanother deck materials.Side and center tie downslots are installed forgreater loading ease andapplication flexibility.

Founded in 1938, Tal-bert Manufacturing pro-vides the most completeline of heavy haul trailersand specialized trans-portation equipment forthe commercial, industri-al, military and govern-ment sectors; and in ap-plications that include re-newable energy, aero-space, heavy construc-tion, in-plant materialhandling, manufacturingand processing systemsand much more.
