WORD WHIP:
When I saw Obesity what are some words that come to mind?
-Genetics -Technology-We aren’t farmers anymore -Fast food is cheap and convenient and tastes good-We are so busy that we need quick food to go a lot of the time -We don’t sit down and eat MINDFULLY! -It takes our stomach 8-20 minutes to tell our brain if we are full or not -People “eat their feelings” eat when depressed etc -Uneducated or misinformed on what is good for you -Parents influence-what are they doing? What are they feeding you? -Ads/Media Medical issues can cause you to gain weight-hypothyroidism etc -Metabolism is slow for some reason-age etc. -Fad diets are making us gain weight in the long run. Kids who diet in middle school and high school are more likely to be overweight later in life! -We aren’t eating the right portion size (bigger is better mentality) all you can eat buffets -$$ -Landlocked states have no access to fresh and lean seafood -Weather in some states make it harder to go outside and workout (hot areas)

Severely overweight
Affects your daily activities-can’t do certain things
Puts people at risk for health problems
BMI of 30+

Not the most reliable method but one method to tell if someone is overweight or obese. Take’s one’s height and weight. WHY MIGHT THIS NOT BE VERY ACCURATE SOMETIMES???
The most reliable is HYDROSTATIC WEIGHING
Over weight is 25+Obese is 30+Morbidly Obese is 40+

Mindful eating will help you not overeat. Never eat in front of the TV etc.
