Our history begins in 1966, when Giovanni Nava started the company as a storage and distribution point for LPG.

The growing desire to produce and innovate in a sustainable way has characterized us ever since the founding

of Settala Gas and has lead, in the past, to the creation of a purification plant of ecological aerosol propellants.

This has been a highly ingenious idea that has anticipated by many years the ban on CFC propellants responsible

for the reduction of the atmospheric ozone layer.

Our destiny has found its milestone in the realization of a distillation column for the production of high purity

hydrocarbons for scientific and laboratory uses.

This innovation allowed us, year by year, to successfully challenge new markets and to become the European

able to reach uniqueness through a series of pecu-

liar characteristics that differentiate us from our com-

petitors and allow us to position ourselves in a well-

We believe that, in order to be a supplier of a raw ma-

terial, it is necessary to ensure the purity of products

and the constancy of deliveries.

This may only be obtained through our own means

of production as well as through an internal laborato-

ry that always controls our level of quality and that is

involved in continuous research.

We furthermore invest widely in training programs for

our employees and in improving our apparatus.

As of today we have a distillation column that is uni-

que in Europe for capacity and quality (updated in

2000) that permits us to reach high levels of puri-

ty, as well as a modern auto-regenerating molecular

sieving system.

TECHNICAL EFFICIENCY

Another reason for our company’s strength is our

ability to always be up to date in such a particular

industry, and we achieve this thanks to our conti-

nuously improved systems and laboratories which

allow us to always be technically reliable.

In addition, it is vital for us to update our staff, which

DISSEMINATION

Settala Gas does not operate solely for commercial

ends but also plays a part in the technical, normative

and application dissemination of ecological propel-

lants.

Our company is a member of AIA (Italian Aerosol

Association) and has always been a protagonist in

promoting the use of aerosol products and ecologi-

cal propellants.

The use of natural products such as light hydrocar-

bons has a great advantage in environmental terms

compared to the use of CFC/HCFC/HFC gases.

We play an important role in the refrigeration sector

as well as in various industrial applications.

We are able to provide normative (laws and regu-

lations) and technical support to all producers who

implement new solutions based on the usage of

ecological gases to replace polluting and obsolete

The PURIFRIGOR refrigerants produced by Settala Gas have no

harmful effects on the ozone layer and are more efficient and less

expensive compared to other gases used in refrigeration.

These products are more efficient compared to HCFC/HFC refrige-

rant gases and permit considerable energy saving.

In the field of refrigeration, both domestic and industrial, it is better

for people who produce or install refrigeration systems to use our

refrigerant hydrocarbon refrigerants because they are completely

ecological and allow to obtain a better energetic performance.

This, in turn, permits a reduction in CO2 emissions thus contributing

to an actual protection of the environment.

Safe and natural, the Purifrigor range of hydrocarbon refrigerants is

suitable for a wide range of air conditioning and refrigeration appli-

cations. They are natural organic gases and are not produced by

synthesis but rather through simple physical processes.

ECOLOGICAL: They do not pollute neither water nor the soil and do

not cause acid rain. They are neither poisonous nor toxic or cance-

rous. Their potential reduction effect on the atmospheric ozone layer

is equal to zero and their contribution to the greenhouse effect is

minor.

EFFICIENT: They improve the performance of refrigerating machi-

nes thus contributing to saving energy.

ECONOMICAL: They are inexpensive compared to CFC/HCFC/

HFC especially because their density is around 40% of that of CFC/

HCFC/HFC (1 kg of hydrocarbon equals about 2.5 kg of R12 or R22

or R134a etc.) therefore by using less than half of the product you

obtain the same volume.

Hydrocarbon refrigerants are also the perfect “drop in” solution for

systems which previously used gases such as CFC R12, HFC R134a,

HCFC R22, R410a and others. They are direct replacement, which

means no new parts or equipment (retro-fitting) are required.

They are compatible with the materials with which the refrigerating

machines are built, with the materials used in their gaskets and with

the lubricant oils used in them.

R290 Pure propane with purity min. 99,5%. It is used in medium to low teperature refrige-ration systems.

R600aHighly efficient natural hydrocarbon refri-gerant used in state-of-the-art light com-mercial and domestic refrigeration. R600a is pure isobutane with purity min. 99,5%.

S-Gas 12S-Gas 12 is a blend of R600a and R290 and is perfect for use in automotive air-condi-tioning systems and in refrigeration appli-cations as direct replacement for R12 and R134a. It is efficient and safe to use, requiring no modification to air conditioning systems and minimal modification to most refri-geration systems and ensures exceptional energy efficiency, dispersing heat much more effectively than fluorocarbon equi-valents.

S-Gas 22S-Gas 22 is the Natural Organic solution for low temperature refrigeration and air-con-ditioning systems previously charged with R22 and R410a.

R1270R1270 is pure 99,5% propylene/propene (C3H6). It is typically used in high tempera-ture Chilling applications as a substitute for R22 and R502.

Settala Gas is a producer of hydrocarbon aerosol propellants since

1969, branded PURIFAIR.

PURIFAIR is used as a propellant by the cosmetics industry in aero-

sol cans or as a foaming agent for foam and food packaging.

Hydrocarbon aerosol propellants are chemically stable, environmen-

tally-friendly and above all, absolutely non-toxic.

The product line of PURIFAIR is made blending n-Butane, Propane

and iso-Butane to cover all pressures and formulations needs spe-

cific to every Customer.

PURIFAIR line varies from a pressure of 2 bar to 7.3 bar at 20 °C.

Personalized blends with specific pressures can also be supplied

according to your requirements.

Settala Gas does not simply commercialize its products, but it is

also a refinery specialized in the treatment of LPG for specific uses

and able to control and guarantee the purity, composition, odor and

pressure of propellants.

By owning storage and logistic infrastructures, Settala Gas is able to

Hydrocarbons such as propane and buta-

nes may be mixed together to achieve spe-

cific vapour pressures and boiling points

Until the 90’s, CFC’s were extensively used in the aerosol and foam blowing industries, until the banning of their use led

to their replacement by hydrocarbons in these applications.

Settala Gas has developed a new mould release agent, PURIGLASS. This gas is a blend of hydrocarbon gases

(propylene/isobutylene) especially balanced for mould surface lubrication for the glass industry.

PURIGLASS has the similar performance as acetylene in glass moulds lubrication but is much more versatile.

It has been tested successfully by many glass manufacturers outperforming propane, propylene and acetylene

The laboratory for development, chemical and

technological research has been recently upgraded

to offer consulting for clients and aerosol producers

who are interested in the optimization of formula-

tions containing hydrocarbons as propellant gases.

The establishment is equipped for the filling of pilot

productions to evaluate the various aspects of aero-

sols: functionality, flammability, environmental safe-

guard and inexpensiveness.

Another function of the laboratory is the deve-

lopment of new applications for the hydrocarbons

propane, iso and normal butane.

Our valuable experience allows us to provide mixes

of hydrocarbon aerosol propellants with the speci-

fic purity and pressure characteristics demanded by

clients for various uses.

These specific characteristics are guaranteed by an

accurate analytical control. Unsaturated hydrocar-

bons, sulfur compounds, stable gases and water are

observed with instruments that can determine their

presence at the mg/kg level.

All of the production processes, especially the distil-

lation for pure gas production, involve controls with

gas chromatography.

Upon request, each delivery may be accompanied by

an Analysis Certificate developed by the laboratory.

The distribution of our products occurs at maximum le-

vels of security and with maximum flexibility in accom-

modating the clients’ requests concerning quantity, ti-

ming and ordering and delivering system.

We exclusively use dedicated trucks and cylinders that

respect ADR regulations. We can provide the product

both in cylinders or tanks belonging to the client and of

our property.

The cylinders for product storage and transportation

are available to the clients through daily or monthly ren-

tal and can be provided with or without dip tube.

Currently, the following sizes of storage cylinders are

available:

1L, 2.4L, 12L, 59.5L, 80L, 118L, 240L, 500L, 930L, 1000L.

For this size, too we can offer the installation of dip

tubes and the most common types of valves: UNI/BS/

DIN/CGA.

At Settala Gas, we can equip you with storage cylinders

for high pressure compressed gases such as methane,

ethane, and ethylene or for storing high purities in the

format of 50L, 300 bar.

The quantity provided in cylinders can vary from 500g

to 500kg and from 2 to 21 tons for unpacked products

supplied in tank truck or Isotank.

To guarantee the quality of our products we offer a hot

purging service for all kinds of cylinders, tank trucks

and isotanks.

For every delivery, the chemical laboratory releases a

certificate of conformity.
