WESTERN BARBEQUEFUN!

The East Lake Village Community Association (ELVCA), sometimes called the “Master”Association, consists of 2240 homes on 80 acres, including our 15-acre lake. The ELVCAmonthly assessment covers the cost of employee salaries, the maintenance and operationof the lake and the shared venues (Pools, Clubhouse, Clubhouse Grounds, Boathouse, RCII,Heritage Pool). They have their own governing documents, their own decision-making Boardand their own Architectural Review committee (ARC). ELVCA maintains some of thelandscape around the exterior perimeter of the lake and much of the landscape in the EastLake Village area outside of the Shores. If Shores homeowners want to do something withinthe three-foot easement on the lakeside of their home and/or their dock area, they must getLake Management Committee (LAKE MAN) approval. Lake Man is under the domain ofELVCA. (All other exterior improvements/changes must go through the Shores ArchitecturalReview Committee). Lake Man also maintains the condition of the bulkhead, the water, thefish, the recycle pumps and the filters here at East Lake. In addition, they make periodicchecks of our shorelines to be sure we have no vegetation growing into the water and no rootsor other homeowner-caused conditions making cracks in the bulkhead. Any damage to thebulkhead caused by the homeowner is the responsibility of the homeowner. The MasterAssociation owns aeration pumps scattered around the lake but the adjacent Shoreshomeowners are volunteering the use of their electricity. The ELVCA Board meets thesecond Tuesday of each month in the Clubhouse at 7:00.

East Lake Village Shores Community Association includes the 191 homes on the lake andthe Shores common areas. We have our own governing documents, our own decision-making Board, our own Architectural Review Committee and our own assessment. OurShores assessment covers many additional amenities including those specific to our homessuch as roofs, house painting, wrought iron repair and painting, cable TV, trash, common arealandscape - to name but a few. We pay an additional assessment to ELVCA for the use andmaintenance of the lake and the amenities. The Shores Board meets the second Thursdayof each month at 5:30 in the Clubhouse.

To act as a liaison between the two Boards, one of our residents is elected to be a delegateto the Master Association, representing us and our concerns at each Master Board meeting, welcoming new residents to the Shores and acting as a venue for information being passedfrom one Board to another. There is a time period given at each Shores Board meeting forthe current delegate or his/her representative to keep us current on Master Board concernsand activities.

Mark your calendars for theupcoming Country and WesternSocial event that will take place onSunday, September 15, starting at5:00 PM at the CommunityBarbeque Area next to the familypool. So dust off that Western gear, polish those boots, find that cowboyhat and plan on joining yourneighbors for some good ol’ countryand western barbeque. PleaseRSVP by September 10 at714.273.7636 or via email [email protected].

Food and entertainment will beprovided courtesy of the ShoresSocial Committee and the ShoresBoard of Directors. Please bringyour own beverages and leave yourhorses and critters back in yourhome corral.

THE ROLE OF THE STREET REPRESENTATIVE

Street Representatives act as quasi “Neighborhood Watch”-”Neighbor-Helpers” on each ofour Shores streets. They play a large role in getting out the vote for each election, as weare required to obtain a quorum of votes - or run additional elections until we reach a quorum, each year. They pass important information on to their streets, post messages ofimportance to all, welcome new neighbors, an act as a liaison to the Street Rep CommitteeChairperson if there is information which should be sent on to everyone. We are fortunateto have some excellent street reps and always welcome additional members. Via Morenais currently looking for two new representatives. If you have a little extra time and/or arelooking for a way to be more involved in our East Lake Shores community, this might be aperfect role for you.

GOODBYE FROM THEJUSKOS

Carol and Bill Jusko and their familyrecently moved from the Shores to Texasbut wanted us to know how much theyenjoyed their time in East Lake. Whenasked what she would miss, Carol had along list: the ducks, the boats, her sweetand very generous neighbors (especiallythose on Via Rene), the beautiful viewfrom her back yard, the activities put onby the Social Committee, Christmas atEast Lake, The Fourth of July BoatParade, walks around the lake, and mostrecently, the food trucks. She endedwith “We wish you and all East Lakersthe best! Yorba Linda is indeed “the landof gracious living”. We will always cherishour time here and a piece of East Lake’selegance and gentle sweetness willremain with us forever. "Love never fails."We wish them happiness in their newTexas home on the Guadalupe River.
