Steve Asher, Mission: I was an athlete and enjoyed a healthy active lifestyle. Then in 1995 I was injured in a car accident and later in 2003 I suffered from a crush injury on the job. As a result I was diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome which eventually effected all four limbs and also my extremities. This lead to shingles, seizures and eventually to Multiple Sclerosis. I was forced to stop working, quit driving, stop exercising, walk with a cane and went on disability and moved into senior housing at the age of 32. My life became a miserable balancing act of pain management and withdrawal. I was taking up to 15,000 units of morphine every 3 days plus a host of other prescriptions costing approximately $4,500 a month. I experienced a loss of cognitive function, emotional distress, depression, intense sweating and extreme weight loss and muscle deterioration. I was irritable and lived with huge mood swings and sleep problems. Dolf recommended trying Alkaline Water, a Quantum pendant and nutritional advice.
After drinking Alkaline Water, as my main fluid, taking Supplements and using the Quantum Energy Pendant my life has changed completely. I am again exercising and have gained 30 pounds. I have decreased my pain medication by 83% which has helped my overall appearance, sleep, appetite and excitement for living. I am so grateful for these products and give my heart-felt endorsement to FUEL Supplements in Mission. Finally, I want to personally thank Dolf for his excellent nutrition expertise and also his encouragement to bettering the quality of my life.

Dolf...Your Health & Wellness ExpertWant to change your life but don’t know where to start?
Let Dolf at Fuel show you how. Steve and Desiree are just a couple of Dolf’s customers who have benefitted from Dolf’s expertise.
Dolf Szilagyi, Owner
Desiree B, Mission:Alkaline water has changed my life in so many ways. A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. It was getting harder and harder to get out of bed and to walk up the stairs in my house took so much energy out of me and caused me so much pain. Every day that went by my body got weaker and the pain got worse.I went through 4 months of pain and exhaustion and that’s when I met Dolf, at FUEL in Mission. He informed me about Alkaline Water, gave me nutritional advice and told me to try it out. The first 3 weeks I drank only Alkaline water and followed Dolf’s program, I already felt I had more energy. After 3 months the results
were amazing. Doctors couldn’t believe how well it just left my body. I cannot begin to express how I feel waking up with no pain and being able to go out and not worry about what might happen if I eat certain foods or when pain might strike. Thanks to Alkaline Water and Dolf’s knowledge on nutrition I have a healthy and happy life. It’s been a year since I’ve been Crohn’s free and I am enjoying every moment of my healthier life.

One of the best ways to foster ongoing cultural
activity in a community is to recognize its artists
and artisans, its visionaries and volunteers,
all those engaged in shaping and supporting
memorable events.
Mission is holding its fi rst annual Muse Awards to honour those
individuals or groups that make our city resonate with vibrant
new ideas and creative forms of artistry. Awards will be presented
in many fi elds of cultural endeavour, including music, visual,
performing and literary arts, with separate categories for emerging
artists and for groups/individuals supporting and sustaining
culture.
Th e annual Muse Awards, created by the Cultural Resources
Commission, will connect artists and arts advocates with a
wider audience, both within and beyond the community. Th e
inaugural ceremony will take place on Th ursday, October 27th at
the Cedarbrooke Chateau, at 7PM. Nominations are open until

Th is is a story about two people who, at opposite ends of the world, dreamed of building a home
for children. We call this dream Jaaja Barb’s Home of Angels.
Jaaja Barb’s Home of Angels Brick by Brick - Loaf by Loaf
My name is Barbara Giraud and I am a grandma. Th is translates
to “Jaaja” in Lugandan and our dream was named in my honor.
I work solely alone in Canada with a 23 year old boy, Edwin who
lived in Jinja, Uganda. Edwin lives and takes care of children at
Agape Children’s Home, where he has lived most of his life.
We felt there had to be a way to take children from the garbage
dumps and put them into a home; to have them attend school and
learn to be productive citizens of their country, Uganda.
How could we ever do this….a 65 year old woman and a 23 year
old boy who was just learning English?
If your dream is strong enough, you can do anything and we
proved this to be a fact. I started baking banana bread. Four
loaves a day and after nine months with 1,500 loaves baked, our
Home of Angels started to take shape.
Even though we are speaking about the “angels” in Uganda, we
also had one appear in Canada. “Global TV”.
Global TV fi lmed our story in February 2011 and the viewers
started contacting us with donations and off ers of baking the
bread. Because of this, we were able to fi nish the children’s home
and start a staff facility which included a clinic and apartments for
the aunties and social worker.
We have been donated the proceeds of the sale of a purebred cow
named “Faithful” to provide all the water on our premises, this
being the largest gift we could have ever received, as water is the
most valuable commodity in Uganda.
We have come so far, but we have a long way to go….
What still needs to be done?
We need to fi nish off the insides of both homes so they are livable
and also to furnish them. A sustainability program must be
established, which we have decided on gardens and a goat farm.
Each goat will cost $70.00US. A wall must be built around the
entire compound for protection for the children with a gate and
guard. At this point we can open.
We have had many wonderful donations come in and we
appreciate them all.
If you would like to help, please contact me.
Th ank you,
Barb Giraud
