Alexandra Park Library Creative Writing CompetitionDuring March we will be launching a new poetry/prose/fiction/non-fiction competition which will be open to everyone. Based on a theme ‘London Journey’, the competition will be judged in June with winners and runners-up being invited to give a public reading at the library. Further details of the competition will be available in mid March, and please ask at the library for details.

Exhibition: The Phoenix: 100 YearsMonday 5th to Friday 30th MarchThe Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley is London’s oldest purpose-built cinema, celebrating its centenary in 2010. This touring exhibition looks at the history of The Phoenix and some of its competitors, including The Gaumont at North Finchley and Muswell Hill’s four cinemas. Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

FREE CHALLENGING BIKE RIDES IN HARINGEY IN FERBUARY
Back by popular demand - Every Sunday morning in February British Cycling is organizing challenging and speedy rides exclusively for adults.
The rides are ideal for anyone looking to take their cycling to the next level or train for a charity bike ride or sportive.
All rides will start at 9am from Grove Hill Car Park Alexander Palace Way (N.B not the main exhibition car park), N22 7AY
Covering 28 miles of a fantastic circular route in the north of London showing that you can escape the city on quiet roads! The ride will go out of the city past the beautiful Alexandra Palace and on to Barnet and Hertfordshire and Enfield. There are a few fun hills to negotiate but it’s tarmac all the way on this ride, making it ideal for road bikes.

Participants must be over 16. As these are adult only rides, designed for cyclists progressing from the standard Ride Strong level, the pace of the ride could increase to 15mph at the discretion of the Ride Leader.

Get Moving WeekWhat's it all about? Fusion Lifestyle Leisure Centres (formally Haringey Council Leisure Centres) offer you a week packed full of free activities. You can choose from a selection of classes available across the borough!
Any adult (aged 16+) has the opportunity to take part in Group Exercise Classes that they may not have considered before as part of Make a Change - Get Moving Week.
Activities such as:*• Circuits• Zumba• Aqua Fitness• Spinning• Capoeira• Yoga• Pilates• Carnival Jam
• Body conditioning• Schinn Cycling, and• Rope Skipping* All classes will be subject to availability and venue
A directory of activities and voucher will be available on Fusion Lifestyles website – www.fusion-lifestyle.com. All you need to do is choose an activity, download and complete the voucher to present at the time of the class (one per activity) - it's that simple!
