It's one of the sweetest ways to make a healthful change - get hot about sweet potatoes. These luscious orange tubers boast a wealth of antioxidants; phytochemicals including beta-carotene; vitamins C and E; folate; calcium; copper; iron; and potassium. The fiber in sweet potatoes promotes a healthy digestive tract, and the antioxidants may play a role in preventing heart disease

and cancer. The natural sweetness of a roasted sweet potato is delicious without any additional fats or flavor enhancers. Be creative, roast them in the oven, on the braai grid or make a chip!

Grazia Fine Food & Wine is one of the finest dining experiences in East

London.

Now celebrating its 10th year, its reputation continues to grow as the spot to celebrate family occasions, take clients for a meal or simply give the family cook a break.

From the freshest seafood, to delectable steaks, perfect pasta as well as scrumptious desserts, the inspired menu and well-researched wine, cocktail and spirits selection will delight even the most discerning guest.

A recent addition to this fine dining establishment is a new Function Room: Grazia’s Room Prive, a private function room for hire offering suburb sea views, secure parking, elegant décor, tailor-made menus and friendly service.

The soul of Grazia is Grazia herself. Born in Italy and brought up in the hospitality environment, Grazia came to South Africa at the age of 17 with nothing but a passion for food and the desire to open a restaurant. She teamed up with her head chef Eric Ngubane over 20 years ago and together the pair have treated East Londoners to very fine dining over the years.

Eric is a self-taught connoisseur of fine food. Having started his career at 16, in the scullery of a Johannesburg restaurant, he has risen through the ranks and understands the importance of every aspect of an excellent restaurant kitchen.

Grazia Fine Food & Wine offers the complete dining experience: a personal touch, a breathtaking setting, a warm ambience and of course, fine food and the best wines.

13 June. Imagining Einstein by David Muller at the Guild Theatre at 10am. Albert Einstein’s work changed the thinking about the universe and opened up a new look at science, and at physics in particular. Cape Town actor, David Muller, has written and performs in a 70-minute single-hander, Imagining Einstein, which re-unites the audience with the four papers Einstein wrote in 1905 and which had such a lasting effect on how we observe the world. The play traces Einstein’s life from early childhood and his school days where he was unhappy to be learning by rote. It touches on his early adulthood, his time in the patent office, his marriages, his science achievements and the effect the World Wars had on a pacifist whose work was a catalyst for the atomic bomb. With a few of Einstein’s own words, David makes clear the highly complicated mathematics that arrived at E= MC squared. And with the help of his audience he will show how the speed of light is constant; he will explain the photo-electric effect and how the Brownian Motion works. David also touches on the science of others like Galileo, Isaac Newton and James Clerk Maxwell. Imagining Einstein is aimed at grades 10 and 11, although any high school learner will be entertained and edutained. Tickets R10 per learner. 28 June. The Return of Elvis du Pisanie, written by Paul Slabolepszy, directed by Amanda Bothma and featuring Pieter-Schalk Bothma, will be on stage for ONE NIGHT ONLY. Presented by arrangement with DALRO, The Return of Elvis du Pisanie is a brilliant one-man play that has enjoyed a record-breaking harvest of awards and international engagements. Set in 1992, it tells the story of Eddie du Pisanie who, after 30 years, returns to Witbank in a last desperate attempt to meet up with Elvis. It is a tale of a failed under-floor heating salesman with a past, who seeks to reclaim the nostalgia of a bygone era that contrasts totally with the steely reality of his life. The show stirs melancholy and awakens laugh-ter. Pieter-Schalk Bothma, who started his acting career in 1989 at the age of six, was awarded the Eastern Cape Premier’s Award

for Excellence in Performing Arts in 2000. In 2011, he performed The Return of Elvis du Pisanie at the Arts Theatre in East London to standing ovations. Bookings have opened and is essential. Tickets R80pp, available at Lee Gold in Old Transkei Road, opposite the Checkers centre (043 735 1586).
