Great looking models
Shapes and lines form the heart and soul of your diagrams. Their careful placement defines the process flow. But diagrams usually convey more than just order and sequence. A well-composed model communicates meaning and understanding to a wide range of process practitioners. iGrafx 2013 helps you build an impactful diagram more quickly and easily.
Draw attention to your diagrams with improved shape palettes and default templates. iGrafx
2013 provides graphical depth and richness to create visually compelling process maps.
Improved thumbnails in the toolbox toolbar match your default diagram and theme settings.
Transparent fills provide greater depth, flexibility and quality to overlapping shapes and lines.
Additional fill patterns assure compatibility with imported diagrams and yield nicer looking graphics. Choose from over 60 fill patterns.
Create wide lines in any width with borders displaying a different color when desired.
Modify the Shape Shadow and 3D depth with a convenient slider control.
Improved indicator icons ensure that the critical data represented in your process models is understood at a glance.

Extended BPMN Modeling
Your process maps must be as clear and descriptive as possible. While BPMN is limited to seven core Task Types and seven Data Objects, iGrafx 2013 provides an extended set of BPMN-compatible Task Types and Artifacts. The extended palette surpasses basic BPMN to enable more precise mapping and communication of your processes including Business modeling, Information modeling, Rules modeling and Reporting modeling. These modeling principles are based on the Layered Enterprise Architecture Development (LEAD) Reference Framework for the integration of business, application, data and technology models and facilitate 4th and 5th level ERP process modeling and integration.
The New Task Types include:

POWERFUL ANALYSIS
iGrafx 2013 introduces new ways to visualize and analyze opportunities to reduce defects and improve efficiency.
Critical Path Analyzer
Leverage your simulation models to visualize critical paths through your processes and maximize improvements you make. The critical path is the process route that limits process performance. For example, if every order entered by your organization must be approved by the sales director, that activity and that manager are on the critical path. In addition, the critical path depends on what’s currently important to your organization (e.g., the critical path may be different if cost is more important than speed). iGrafx supports all variations of critical path analysis.
Highlighted critical paths are clearly displayed both graphically in the diagram and textually in
the adjacent spreadsheet view.
Three data sources are available for path analysis. Use dynamic simulation data, Static Custom Data properties on Shapes or define static data values exclusive to the analyzer.
Ranked paths can be listed from most critical to least important.
Intermediate calculations are displayed in the spreadsheet view for any point along a path.

Multiple Value Stream Analysis on a single Map using Multiple Timelines
Map multiple product lines, facilities, process states, or other information side-by-side in the same diagram with each flow associated with its own timeline. With two or more timelines on the same diagram, iGrafx 2013 makes it easy to analyze split flows or display multiple timeline analyses (e.g. information vs. material) side-by-side. If desired, display both your “Current State” and “Future State” value stream on the same diagram.
Timelines are configured independently with unique formatting and data as necessary. Position each timeline anywhere desired on the diagram surface.
Shapes are automatically associated with timelines, and can be adjusted using the Value Stream Toolbar or the shape Properties dialog.
Timeline and value stream data is rolled up to parent diagrams as specified.
Support for BPMN Compensation in Simulation
The powerful process simulation capabilities in iGrafx now allow simulating the effect of data rollback
due to cancelled events. Simulation includes BPMN Compensation events that are used to undo steps

that were already successfully completed, because their results and possible side effects are no longer
desired and need to be reversed.
Simulate BPMN Compensation Events within BPMN diagrams.

PROCESS ACCESSIBLITY AND COLLABORATION
iGrafx 2013 encourages collaboration by increasing the reach of process information throughout the
organization and making it easy to access processes anytime, anywhere.
Mobile Process Collaboration
Process information is most valuable when you can see it when you need it! With iGrafx 2013, visualize
your process from the shop floor, from your business unit meeting, from your travels… whenever an
urgent process-related question comes up.
View iGrafx diagrams on any smart phone, tablet or mobile device.
Annotate diagrams while reviewing processes from your web device.
See search results immediately highlighted on the diagram as search text is entered.
An optional Overview Window provides context for browsing large diagrams.
Single-sign on authentication enables ease of access for mobile (and non-mobile) devices
SharePoint Integration
iGrafx repositories store any type of document but your organization may have departments that
manage their Office documents in Microsoft® SharePoint®. With iGrafx 2013 SharePoint integration,
you can extend the reach of your process documentation across the organization and avoid duplication
of information by leveraging your existing corporate documentation management platform.
Search iGrafx from SharePoint. To provide seamless navigation between both tools, your
searches from SharePoint now find content in iGrafx 2013 repositories. Click the search result to
open your process map in iGrafx.
iGrafx 2013 creates intelligent links from iGrafx Enterprise objects and diagram shapes to
SharePoint content. Links from iGrafx to SharePoint dynamically update when your SharePoint
file is renamed or moved within a Library.

Integrated Repository Search
Repository search from Windows Explorer lets you search your hard drive and iGrafx repository
contents at the same time. Within seconds, find the process model you’re looking for using the search
technology you’re familiar with.
Paginated Web Printing
iGrafx client users have always enjoyed unparalleled printing capabilities. Now, iGrafx 2013 brings
paginated printing to your browser.
Select between Portrait or Landscape print orientation.
Scale the print output by percentage zoom level.
Specify the number of pages to print to or fit the print to a single page.

STRUCTURED PROCESS REPOSITORIES
Flexible organization of documents within your repository and requiring data properties for new or
modified documents are just two ways iGrafx 2013 improves document control and navigation.
Document Shortcuts
Shortcuts improve navigation and increase productivity. The shortcut paradigm made popular by Windows Explorer is now available as a feature in iGrafx 2013 repositories to create shortcuts to any repository document. For example, imagine organizing your documentation by functional roles with a central folder containing common documents. Within each functional folder, you can define shortcuts to central documents relevant to that department.
Link shapes to either original documents or shortcuts.
Shortcuts dynamically update when the target document is renamed or moved.
Disband shortcuts to copy the target document as an original into the shortcut folder in one easy step to create variants of the original structure.

Better Data Control at Check-in
The way you organize repository objects communicates information about your processes. You may
have additional metadata information, however, to present with your repository content. Use iGrafx
2013 repository properties including pick-lists so users can quickly enter data that enhances knowledge
and business understanding.
Define required values to enforce the collection of property data when users add or modify a
repository document.
Pick lists can be configured to allow single or multiple values.
Historical values are maintained with the document for traceability.
Additional New Features
Alternative repository sort gives iGrafx 2013 repository administrators the flexibility to sort any object type or folders beyond the default alphabetical sort.
Improved Back & Forward buttons in the Properties dialog navigate more quickly between
object, diagram, and shape details.

INTUITIVE ENTERPRISE MODELING
iGrafx 2013 makes modeling a foundational architecture of processes, technologies, strategies and
resources more intuitive and efficient.
Drag and Drop Enterprise Model Creation
Rather than create your process architecture one element at a time, use iGrafx 2013 to leverage the
process data you’ve already captured in diagrams. Simply open process maps in iGrafx 2013 and drag
existing shapes from diagrams to the repository structure to either create the architecture or to update
your existing one with reusable process objects.
Leverage existing processes and activities in visual diagrams to create objects in your process architecture.
Multiple selected shapes can be dragged and dropped as a group to make initial creation or bulk updates quick and easy.
Create various types of repository objects critical to your business including Processes, Activities, Requirements, Business Rules, Processes, Activities, etc.

Intelligent Enterprise Modeling
Reduce the amount of time needed to map your enterprise process architecture with visual diagrams. iGrafx 2013 accelerates mapping by predicting the enterprise objects that new shapes will represent.
Intelligent suggestions hint to linkable enterprise objects as you diagram, ordering the most likely targets at the top.
Control placement of enterprise object numbering on describing shapes.
Tool tips on the hints display the full object path of each suggestion to minimize chances of incorrect associations and icons help you recognize the object type of each hint suggestion at a glance.

Quick Relationships via Enterprise Search
Relationships are everything to a successful model. Creating relationships is now streamlined with the ability to search and filter for the objects you are looking for. For example, you need to model a RACI relationship between Jane Smith and an activity she is responsible for. With iGrafx 2013, simply open the activity Properties dialog, type “staff” and all staff jobs are displayed. Click once and the RACI relationship is completed. No more drilling down through the repository hierarchy to make relationships.
All relationships (not just RACI) can take advantage of this new feature.
Tool tips on the suggestions display the full object path to minimize the chance of making an incorrect association.
Icons help you recognize the object type of each hint at a glance.

Visible Hierarchy under Enterprise Object Shortcuts
Enterprise object shortcuts assist modeling efforts when defining shared segments of your process
architecture. For example, processes may have regional differences where most process steps match the
common model but some specialized steps are unique to a specific region. With iGrafx 2013, children of
shortcuts are visible to the user, providing at-a-glance understanding of the original structure that is
being referenced with the shortcut. Viewing the full set of the original hierarchy in the context of the
shortcut allows you to easily navigate the model and find information where you expect it.
Shortcuts dynamically update when target objects are renamed or moved.
View object properties directly from shortcut children in the navigation without hunting for original placement in your process architecture.

WORKING WITH SAP
iGrafx 2013 helps companies with SAP to accelerate building custom Business Blueprint Projects.
SAP® Blueprint Cross-Project Shortcuts
Cross-project shortcuts are a popular method for building new SAP projects from an existing template.
iGrafx 2013 repositories synchronized with SAP Solution Manager allow iGrafx Process® for SAP users to
leverage Blueprint Project templates and other project content as the source for custom projects, by
using cross-project shortcuts. This feature supports companies that leverage global standards but also
need to create customized variations of the standard easily in the context of their enterprise model.
SAP® Solution Manager® cross-project shortcuts are now visible in iGrafx 2013 repositories.
Disband Shortcuts in iGrafx to create original objects and display child shortcuts which can in turn be disbanded to effectively create custom project content.
