In pursuance of achieving all around development our campus was synergized with many efforts towards keeping it green with eco-friendly initiatives such as providing e-rickshaw facility within its premises for all campus dwellers and visitors. is is the time when University has taken significant initiatives to transform it into a cashless campus by leveraging IT-enabled services and providing payment gateways for online transactions which also include fee collection. University has also served host to many notable visitors this year amongst them include Nobel Laureate Shri. Kailash Satyarthi who visited our campus as a part of his country- wide march against child-abuse. Our campus was also graced by visits of Padma Shri, Shri. GCD Bharti, and Padma Shri Prof. D.B. Pathak. is was also the year when we hosted our first TEDx talk in which notable celebrities from across the fields deliberated their inspirational talks on a common theme of “Celebrating the Diversity”, notable speakers such as Padma Shri, Dr. Janak Palta McGilligan, Miss Nuzhat Parween, Cricketer, Indian Women’s Cricket Team; Ms. Surabhi Gautam, RGPV Alumni, and topper in Indian Engineering Services (IES) 2013 and many such achievers inspired the audience with their remarkable talks on diverse achievements. We are also committed towards achieving total transparency by bringing in examination reforms in terms of acknowledging active role of ICT in supporting, catalyzing, establishing, monitoring and evaluating various stages in examination. It is also a matter of great delight and pride for us to host the Association of Indian Universities’ Central Zone Vice Chancellors’ Meet 2017 at University premises with a central theme of “Opportunities and Challenges towards transforming Indian Universities into Global Premier Universities by 2022” keeping in mind the ever-growing concern and vision of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji for reinstating Indian Universities in the league of premier global universities. I am happy to share that this will be our inaugural hosting of this event which will be followed by many such events of national importance. Just like the year is incomplete without days, and days without hours, University is incomplete without its dedicated employees working days and nights towards a common goal of bringing new accolades for themselves and the University. Many a times these relentless efforts go unnoticed but I appreciate all your efforts and wish you all a very happy, positive and synergistic new year marked with new heights and achievements. Every year ends with new achievements and new begins with afresh hopes and aspirations. This year brought us many recognitions as a team and individuals. The most recognized one being our

Department of Mechanical Engineering, UIT, RGPV organized a one-week Faculty Development Program under TEQIP-III on “Refrigeration and Air-conditioning (RAC)” from 13-17 November, 2017. The program was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice

Chancellor, RGPV, Prof. Sunil Gupta with Prof. Ritunesh Kumar, IIT Indore as the Guest of Honour. Head of Department, Prof Aseem C. Tiwari delivered the welcome address. Over 50 participants from all over the state Engineering Colleges attended the program. About 12 Subject Experts from reputed institutes like IITs, NITs delivered expert lectures on various topics related to “Refrigeration & Air Conditioning” which is one of the core subject of Mechanical Engineering and its conceptual studies give students an edge over others. Topics like “design of air conditioning systems”, “Eco friendly Refrigerants, Modern Refrigerants”,

“Air Craft Refrigeration system”, “Desiccant Refrigeration system”, “Compound Vapour Compression Refrigeration System”, “Vapour absorption Refrigeration System”, “Solar Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Systems” etc. were discussed by experts.

Madhya Pradesh Tech Innovation Challenge 2017 hosted by RGPV

RGPV hosted MP Tech Innovation Challenge 2017 on innovation themes of Smart Cities, Renewable Energy, Automotive and Traffic Management, Waste Management, and Innovations for Rural India. The Challenge took place in the gracious presence of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor

Rajput; CEO, Smart City Development Corporation, Bhopal, Shri Chandramauli Shukla, Chairman, Bhopal Municipal Corporation, Bhopal, Shri Surjeet Singh Chauhan and many faculty members of the University. Dr. Anil Kothari, Prof. & Head, T&P, RGPV was the Coordinator for this programme. SATI, Vidisha Team bagged the first prize under theme Automotive and Traffic Management for their innovative idea on Advance Safety Driving System; LNCT Bhopal team won 2nd prize under theme Smart Cities for their idea for Smart Hall and Oriental College of Technology Bhopal Team won 3rd prize under the theme of water management for their innovative idea on Waste Management using IOE.

Industrial Visit of Pharmacy Students Organized

School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPS) organized industrial visit of first year M.Pharm. students to Lupin Pharmaceutical Limited, Mandideep, Raisen on 15-11-2017. The visit began with orientation presentation by Mr. Vivek Thakur, Senior Officer API Unit, about

company’s growth and development in recent times. This was followed by students’ visit to different departments and manufacturing units of Lupin Manufacturing plant like QC, QA, API Manufacturing, Packaging etc. Students ‘were allowed to closely observe the production of APIs especially those of cardiovascular drugs. Besides, campus placement drive was recently conducted by Quest Care Pvt. Ltd. at School of Pharmaceutical Sciences RGPV, Bhopal on 5-11-2017 in which a total of 4 final year M. Pharm., students got selected. Quest Care Pvt. Ltd is a full-service contract research organization established with an aim of providing Technology and Quality driven clinical research services to pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and biotechnology companies.

Invited Expert Talk Organized

An invited expert lecture on “A novel trigeneration scheme for efficiency enhancement of solar thermal power plant” by Prof. Abdul Khaliq, Mechanical Engineering department, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals,

Dhahran, Saudi Arabia was organised by School of energy & environment, URD –RGPV. Which was attended by M.Tech (Energy Students) of SoEEM department and TRUBA college. The occasion was also graced by Prof. G. N Tiwari (Ex- Professor-IIT Delhi) and faculty from MANIT and SGSITS. Department also organized a Three Days Solar PV Training Program conducted first time for M.Tech. students at RGPV from 21st-23rd November 2017 by School of Energy & Environment Management(SoEEM), UTD-RGPV. The programme was funded by Department of Technical Education (DTE), Govt. of M.P. ,Bhopal. PG Students from RGPV, TRUBA College and MANIT participated in

the training programme. Dr.Deeak Gadiya, Founder of Gadia Solar Ltd- Gujarat was the chief Guest of the inaugural function along with Hon’ble Vice Chancellor - RGPV. Coordinator of the event was Dr. Mukesh Pandey, Headoof SoEEM-RGPV.

Workshop on Cyber-security organized

In pursuance of realizing government of India’s ambitious vision towards Digital India and Digital Transactions and to sensitize stakeholders about digital thefts and curb their menaces, a one-day awareness workshop on CYBER SECURITY was organized on 15-11-

2017 at TIT Sciences, Bhopal. The workshop was attended by faculty, employee and students of the affiliated institution and received a very positive response for knowledge enrichment. Dr. Piyush Kumar Shukla, Professor, CSE Department UIT RGPV and Prof. Manish Ahirwar, Professor, CSE Department UIT RGPV were the coordinators for the workshop. The expert talk was delivered by Mr. Mahesh Kumar Yadav, Deputy Director IRS, ZTI Bhopal. Controller Finance, RGPV Smt. Nivedita Ojha was the Coordinator and Shri C.K. Maheshwari, Assistant Secretary was the co-coordinator for this workshop.

Faculty Development Programme

Department of Civil Engineering, University Institute of Technology (UIT), RGPV organized a one week Faculty Development Program on

“Seismic Vulnerability of Structures” under TEQIP Phase III scheduled from 27th November - 01st December 2017. The faculty experts from IITs and other reputed engineering institute and from industry have given expert talk in this FDP. In total 61 participants has attended the FDP from various engineering institutes. This one week Faculty Development

Program was intended to provide an opportunity for faculties in various engineering institutions for upgrading their knowledge in the areas of earthquake resistant structures. Prof. D. R. Sahoo, IIT Delhi; Prof. P V Dilip Kumar, School of Engineering Sciences, Mahindra Ecole Centrale Hyderabad; Prof. Putul Haldar, IIT Rupar; Er. Arvind Kaushik, Head of Naval Construction, L&T, Delhi; Prof. M. K. Laghate, SGSITS Indore; Prof. R. K. Khare, SGSITS Indore; Prof. Raana Pathak, Acropolis Technical Campus Indore; Er. Amit Melani, Structural Consultant, Indore; Prof. S. K Jain, MITS Gwalior; Prof. Sandeep Chaudhary, IIT Indore delivered their expert talks. Prof. S.S. Bhadoria was the Coordinator and Dr. Aruna Rawat was the Co-Coordinator for this programme.

A One week Faculty Development Program was organized under TEQIP-III by Nanotechnology Department on “Techniques for Material Characterization” from November, 20-24, 2017. 100 faculty got

registered into it. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor RGPV Prof. Sunil Kumar; Dr. RJ Chaudhary, Scientist F, UGC, DAE Consortium; and Dr. DM Phare, Scientist H, UGC, DAE Consortium were present during the inaugural ceremony. Championship at Tilak Maharastra Vidhyapeeth, Pune (05-08, Nov-2011); All India Baseball Championship, Punjab University Chandigarh (18-25, Nov-2017); All India Inter-University Chess Competition at Jagran Lake City University (10-14, Nov-2017) and many more events.

The key note speaker for the program was Prof. Anil Kumar Tripathi, IITBHU, Varanasi & Shri Abhay Wankhede, Indore.

• Expert Talk on “Moving towards Smart Electric Grid in India” was organized by Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering UIT-RGPV. The talk was delivered by Prof. S. N. Singh, Vice Chancellor, MMM University of Technology, Gorakhpur, Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

• One day Workshop cum Training on PFMS (expenditure filling) & PMSS (procurement) for Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha TEQIP III Institutions (Total 34 institutes) was organized on 17-11-2017. The speakers were Ms. Bharti Arya (Consultant, NPIU, TEQIP-III); Ms. Rupali Jha (Consultant, NPIU, TEQIP-III).

World Congress on

Genetics, Genomics & Personalized

Medicine held from 15-17 November,

2017 at Indian Institute of

Sciences (IISc), Bengaluru. Prof. Archana Tiwari,

Head, School of Biotechnology, RGPV won the “Best Oral Paper Presentation Award” of

the World Congress on the topic “Epigenetics aspects for prognosis of the Type-2 Diabetic

Retinopathy”. The award was special as this was the only award of the Congress.
