PREPARATION FOR ASSEMBLY 2012

The major focus for our work the last couple of meetings has been getting ready for Assembly 2012.

Sharon Zayac who is facilitating two days with us sent an outline of her process and we think it looks really

good. As a committee we are working on our presentation to the Assembly and are pleased with how it is

coming together. In the end you will be the ones to determine if it is good or not!

INCREASE IN THE COST OF ELECTRICITY

January 1st the electrical rates in Nova Scotia increased by 10%. At Bethany we are continuing to work on

ways of not wasting electricity. In case this is something you are also concerned about here are a few tips

to keep in mind:

♦ Turn off lights and equipment (radio, TV) when you leave a room

♦ Reduce phantom electricity: Anything that still has a light showing when turned off or is still warm

(adaptors) when the machine is turned off, is eating up electricity with nothing to show for it.

Sometimes it helps to put a number of items in one area on a power bar and then you only have one

switch to turn off.

♦ Activate the computer’s sleep mode so when you are not working at the computer it will “fall

asleep” until you get back to work. It only takes a touch of the key pad for it to come back on.

Remember, it is all the little things that make a difference because little things add up fast!
