Dolly answered a number of questions from the media about her thoughts on Dollywood’s 30th anniversary. She said she was most proud of the jobs Dollywood has provided for people in her hometown and of the memories countless families have made during the 30 year history of the Park.

At the end of the media event on Sneak Preview Day, Dolly performed Rocky Top along with all of the Festival of Nations performers on hand for this year’s celebration. She said she wanted to sing the “State Anthem” for our special visitors.

A drummer in high school, Dolly wore her band uniform to join the Los Pampas Gauchos show. Here they are trying to teach her some of the special acts from their show. In this photo, Dolly tries to learn how to spin boleadoras, an ancient throwing weapon used by the Argentinean group in the show.

Zebra Stelzentheater provides colorful antics for Guests lined along the parade route on Saturday during Grand Opening weekend. The roaming act can be found throughout the Park during Festival of Nations.

Check out Chasing Rainbows 2015!Be sure to check out new exhibits in Chasing Rainbows. Permanent cases have now been set for some of Dolly’s TV movies

including Wild Texas Wind, Blue Valley Songbird, and Unlikely Angel as well as her latest movie Joyful Noise. Other new permanent cases include touring costumes and those on many of her album covers. In addition, if you were not able to visit last year, you will want to see the Attic Show which features a Dolly hologram.

CRAIG’SORNER

Dear Fellow Hosts,

I want to take this opportunity to share a few thoughts with you as we embark on our 30th anniversary season at Dollywood…

First, to those Hosts that worked through the off-season to get us ready to open, I will never be able to adequately express how much I respect your selfless and tireless dedication to this Park and this team. It is impossible to say “thank you” enough. While the unusual weather conditions tested our patience, with our culture of teamwork and mutual respect – rather than break us down, it built us up! You all are incredible and I am so impressed by your personal fortitude and commitment to prevail.

Secondly, to the talented and dedicated people behind the scenes who support the teams on the front line, you too were impacted and were forced to develop back-up plan after back-up plan. Thank you for the long hours and the quick response to the changes in plans and the extra effort to get us back on track.

Thirdly, to the more than 300 leaders throughout the company, thank you for your smart, compassionate and inspiring leadership. We are opening at excellence thanks to your good thinking, constant engagement and, most importantly, your servant leadership.

To those Hosts who are returning to us after some time off, welcome back! Thank you for your dedication to our Dollywood family, your patience through the cold winter, and your willingness to serve our Guests year after year. We have so many exciting things in store for our 30th anniversary year, and we’ll continue to strive to make this a great place to work for great people like you.

Lastly, it is obvious that we all have a real heart for what we do. This is due in large part to the respect that we have for Dolly Parton and the Herschend family. We are privileged to have such extraordinary owners that are always there to encourage, inspire, and support us.

What we do truly does make a real difference in this world. Bringing families and friends closer together is an honorable way to spend our valuable time and true talent. I look forward to this 30th year together. And always remember…life is a gift… LOVE EVERY MOMENT!

Respectfully,

GUeST excellence BeGinS WiTh YoUr Smile!

GreetUnderstandExceed Serve and SuggestTreat

We only have one chance to make a great first impression on our Guests. A key element of providing excellent service to our Guests is that initial warm greeting we offer. For three years, Dollywood has been recognized with Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket as the World’s Friendliest Park. That means our Guests are expecting great service more than ever! Here are some helpful hints to keep in mind to greet our Guests with excellence.

Be the first to speak when approaching a Guest. Acknowledge their presence and offer assistance before they even have a chance to approach you. This should be done not only when you are at your work location, but every time you are walking in the Park.

Good service language includes phrases like: “Hello, everyone!” and “Welcome, folks!”

Make sure your greeting is genuine and enthusiastic. You might ask them an open-ended question such as, “Where are you from?” Remember, too, that nonverbal communication is a major part of any communication. It is not necessarily what we say, but how we say it. From a simple smile, wave or eye contact, to your personal appearance (clean costume, combed hair, pleasant smell), nonverbal communication plays a huge role in the way our Guests receive our greeting. Make sure your body language is consistent with your friendly smile and that you are not slouching, sighing, or shrugging while talking, as these nonverbal cues exhibit a disinterested attitude even though it may be unintentional. When we take care of our Guests like family, we can help create memories worth repeating.

Get Your Guide On!One of our main focuses should always be to answer our Guests’ questions as

quickly as possible. Answering our Guests quickly helps them Love Every Moment of their stay. Our quick and informative answers show we care. With this in mind, we ask every Host to “Get Your Guide On!”

Your Host Reference Guide should be considered part of your uniform and, as such, should be carried with you every day. This guide is packed with relevant and current information to help you answer Guests’ questions. If you didn’t pick up your guide at the Annual Update, extras are available in the Human Resources office.

With the “Get Your Guide On Challenge,” you could win a free meal! Each week we’ll have the “Get Your Guide On” crew looking for knowledgeable Hosts ready to answer questions. If you are caught with your Host Reference Guide and can answer a random question within 30 seconds, you’ll win a free lunch certificate for a Host Lounge meal.

Pay Stub Information Available on the Host PortalRemember you can now view and print your paystubs in the online Host Portal. You can access the current

paycheck stub or your paycheck history as far back as 2013. Directions are posted in the Legacy & Learning Center computer lab which is open from 8 a.m. until two hours after the Park closes and 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on days the park is closed. Please stop by the computer lab for detailed instructions on how to access the Host Portal.

ShoWcaSe oF STarS reTUrnSDuring the media event last Friday, Dolly announced the return of Dollywood’s popular Showcase of Stars concert series

as part of our 30th anniversary season. It is her goal for Showcase of Stars to raise $1 million to benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Dolly kicks off the series with four concerts Aug. 8-9 at D.P.’s Celebrity Theater. Dolly is asking several of her performing artist friends to take part in the series to help her reach her goal. Kenny Rogers already has agreed to help and currently is scheduled to close the series on Sept. 27. The remainder of the all-star lineup will be announced in the near future.

Tickets provide Guests a great opportunity to catch several big names in a more intimate setting, while allowing them to simultaneously support a worthy cause. Celebration CentralThe Entertainment management team is very proud of the support team that recently coordinated and conducted our annual Safety Training classes. With guidance from Debbie Meek and Chance Smith, Erin Elliott and Natacha Hylton did a fantastic job in making sure our Entertainment employees received the initial training they needed in order to operate our theaters and other venues safely and in compliance with Park safety standards.

Park PerksAmong the great advantages of

working at Dollywood is our great Park Perks Program and the 2015 brochure is now available in Human Resources listing the area attractions you can visit for free or at a discounted rate. Please remember that when visiting any of these attractions you will be required to present a valid 2015 Host ID, Dependent ID(s) and a current paystub. You can either show your current paycheck stub on your phone or print it out and bring it with you. Remember, when you visit one of these locations and participate in the Park Perks program, you are representing Dollywood. Please treat employees of other attractions with respect and kindness. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Wawrin in Human Resources ext. 9565. We hope you have a great time enjoying the many fun attractions in our area!

It is great to be able to Create Memories Worth RepeatingTM for our Guests again. Dollywood Greeter, Tomasina Bicer was stopped by an eager young Guest who wanted her to know all about his new twin siblings! She took time to admire the beautiful babies and to let this proud brother know he is special too! Tomasina shared one of our special celebration pins with this young Guest. We know this picture represents hundreds of special moments of truths that happened all over park this weekend. Thank you for taking time to make our Guests feel welcome and special.

SAFE Y MattersLast season, we treated e-cigarettes like regular cigarettes and asked anyone using them to use a smoking

area. Many guests using e-cigarettes did not want to be around the smokers because they are trying to quit smoking. To accommodate their needs and reduce the number of guest opportunities related to e-cigarettes, we have added three designated vaping areas at Dollywood and one at Dollywood’s Splash Country.

On the park map the smoking areas are marked with an S

V

and the vaping areas are marked with a

S

V . The benches in the smoking areas are red and the benches in the vaping areas are blue.

Guests may use e-cigarettes in the vaping areas AND the smoking areas. However, smoking is not permitted in the vaping areas. If you see Guests on park smoking or vaping, please politely direct them to the appropriate areas.

Vaping Area LocationsDollywood1. On the right side of Pines theatre near the First Aid office. (Previously a smoking area)2. Behind Blue Ribbon Pavilion near the restrooms. (Previously a smoking area)3. In Wilderness Pass across from the Dixie Stampede kiosk.

Splash Country1. Near the front gate. Exact location to be determined.

Parking Lot UpdatesSeveral upgrades and changes have been made to the parking lot for the 2015 season. We want everyone to get to work

safely and to be able to park and get to your work location as quickly as possible. Here are a few reminders to help all of us utilize our parking lots well. Observe all parking signage. Remember parking at

the Dollywood Family Healthcare Center is only for Hosts who have a scheduled appointment. Hosts can no longer travel from Dollywood’s Splash Country to the Dollywood Guest Parking Lot using the underpass. Please use the Dollywood Guest Parking Lot main entrance to access the Dollywood Guest Parking Lot.

With the changes, many questions have been asked. Here are a few FAQs to help you with any you may receive.

What route does traffic travel after entering tolls?• The road through the parking lot is located on the outer perimeter of the parking lot. This eliminates the need for Guests to cross the main traffic lanes in order to reach their vehicles.

Why are there gates on the Guest Road in the parking lot?• The gates in the parking lot are in the two locations where the Tram Road intersects the Guest Road. The gates stay in the up position with a green light displayed, similar to railroad crossing gates. When a tram approaches, the green light at the gates turns red and the gates lower to the closed position. When the tram clears the Guest Road, the light turns green and the gates open.

When can I park in the bus lot?• The bus lot has been redesigned for the 2015 season. NO vehicles are allowed to park in the bus lot during operating days. The bus lot is designed to pick-up/drop-off Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort Guests in the new Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort trolleys, to serve as a gathering place for Dollywood groups, and as an area for Guests parking in Lots G & H to purchase tickets and enter Dollywood through the new Groups and Preferred Parking Guest Entrance. Due to space limitations, all groups will load/unload in Lot G or H and utilize the walking path leading to the Group Entrance. However, bus groups with Guests who need ADA access will be permitted to load/unload in the bus lot, then proceed to park in Lot G or H.

When can I park in Lot G & H?• Lots G & H are tied to revenue as they contain dedicated spaces for Preferred Guest Parking, Groups Parking, DMR Guest Parking as needed, and General Guest Parking when lots A-F are full. As revenue lots for our Guests who paid an upcharge, these spaces are not available for Host Parking. All Hosts need to utilize the Host Parking Lot and Host Shuttle Service, which now drops off directly at the Dollywood Host Park Entrance.

How much does it cost to park at Dollywood and Dollywood’s Splash Country?• $12 General Parking, $18 RV Parking, $22 Preferred Parking & $37 Valet Parking.

• Gold Season Pass Holders have FREE General and RV Parking, $10 Preferred Parking & $25 Valet Parking.

• Valet & Preferred Parking are not yet offered at Dollywood’s Splash Country.

When does the Host Shuttle operate?• The Host Shuttle operates two hours before park opening and two hours after park closing on all operating days. The Host Shuttle pick up locations are stops one through four in the upper Host Parking Lot, and the covered concrete area between Post 2 and the Cash Office/Chasing Rainbows building. Only working Hosts may ride the Host Shuttle. Dependents are not allowed to utilize the Host Shuttle. Please remember, if you choose to visit Dollywood on your days off, you need to park in the Guest Parking Lot in order to ensure there are plenty of parking spaces for working Hosts in the Host Parking Lot.

Do I have to ride the Host Shuttle?• No. There is a designated walking area from the Host Parking Lot to the Host Park Entrance at Post 2. For your safety, please utilize this walkway when walking through the Host Parking Lot.

Understand the Changes to ADA Accessible Parking To help make our Guests’ experience better, we have redesigned our parking lot to be more effective for them, including less chances for Guests to cross vehicle traffic.

• By moving the ADA (accessible parking) lot, we were able to provide almost 50 additional ADA spaces for our Guests. We also were able to position the ADA parking lot between two tram stops. This allows Guests more convenient access to our trams. Tram Stop A is at the front of the ADA lot and Tram Stop B is at the back of the ADA parking lot. • Additionally, eight of 11 trams are equipped to transport both wheelchairs and ECVs. By June 1, 2015, we will have a fleet of 12 trams capable of transporting both wheelchairs and ECVs. • Guest drop-off, located adjacent to the ticket booths, may be utilized at any time for the driver to drop-off and pick up Guests who choose to not utilize the trams and do not wish to walk through the parking lot. • For Dollywood Hosts, the shuttle pick-up and drop-off location is now at Post 2, directly adjacent to a Host entrance. The drop-off is serviced by two ADA accessible shuttles equipped with lifts. On closed days, Dollywood Hosts who qualify for ADA status may continue to park in the Guest ADA lot as normal.

SkyZip is proud to offer Dollywood Hosts a special deal!We are offering our Hosts and dependent cardholders

(For example, only park in applicant parking if you are applying for a job). • When working, Hosts should park only in the Host Parking Lot. • When visiting on their day off, Hosts should park in the Guest Parking Lot.

Information Security in Real LifeBelow is another helpful article from HFE’s IT Department. Be on the lookout in the What’s Happening for more

great tips from HFE on how to keep our information systems, both at work and at home, safe from security threats.

Security will have a real, noticeable impact on how you operate in an environment. The secure method of operations is not going to be as comfortable as what we’ll call the native method of operations. Today we’ll look at some theory and then practical application of security in real life.

As we move towards a more secure environment, we move away from functionality and simplicity. At HFE we are constantly negotiating the tension between security, functionality and simplicity. It is sometimes shown as a triangle where the point in the triangle is the operational system. Think of a merchandise point of sale system as the dot. As it moves towards security, it becomes harder to use and the functions become more limited.

Over the next few months there will be an enhanced drive towards security, both operational (credit card chain of custody) and informational (use strong encryption). Functionality of some products may become limited and/or harder to use. This is not necessarily a stated intent but a by-product of security. We in the various IT offices throughout the company look forward to working with you to negotiate this natural tension in the security arena, and we thank you for your understanding of the process.

Now, how can this better your life? Hopefully, it helps answer the question of “why” and reduces some natural frustration generated from the by-products of security. More than that, though, we hope it helps everyone to personally take stock of their security. Identify what information you are transmitting at work and at home. Then try to identify what threats are in the environment, what the risk is if the information is compromised, and then apply the appropriate security measures.

Let’s run through the full assessment once together with an online banking scenario.

1. Value of the information: 100% of current wealth.

2. Threats: Bad actor steals 1%-100% of current wealth.

3. Vulnerability: Username/password compromise.

4. Risks: a. Are credentials stored in an insecure location? b. Is it a weak password? c. Is it the only form of Identification? d. Does my computer/mobile have malware?

5. Apply countermeasures: a. Keep credentials in a secure location (locked safe). b. Use strong passwords, or passphrases. c. Institute two-factor authentication. https://twofactorauth.org has a list of banks that support two-factor authentication. d. Boot from a known clean operating system before doing banking. Use the USAF version for free (http://www.spi.dod.mil/lipose.htm).

To summarize, security is tough but worth the effort. The information you touch at home and at work is valuable. Take measures to secure it.

12 Love every moment

Herschend Enterprises Organizational AnnouncementDear Dollywood Family,

Many of you may have heard or asked about Joel Manby’s recent decision to resign as CEO of Herschend Enterprises to continue his career as President and CEO of SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment. Joel has been a great leader and personal friend to me and many of you throughout his time with HFE. He will truly be missed for many, many reasons including most of all his passion, commitment, and stewardship of our leadership and service culture. I especially wanted to call out some excerpts from Joel’s letter:

“This departure is bittersweet, because I love…all of the employees who could not have been more supportive of me throughout the years.

I hope you all understand that I can love HFE and be confident of its future, yet still be drawn to a true turn-around and brand transformation opportunity that is right in my strike zone.

I will ALWAYS be a passionate Herschend Enterprises fan and I hope you can support SeaWorld...”

As we support his personal decision to take on a new challenge, each of you should be honored by the notion that the love and care you show to our guests and to each other is what Joel feels compelled and called to share as he pursues this challenging new opportunity. We wish him the best, and we are confident Joel is up to the challenge.

As the Herschend Enterprises Board of Directors begins its work to fill this leadership role, the Dollywood Company is in a tremendously strong position to carry on the heritage of bringing families and friends closer together. Already, we are off to a great start to the season. Thank you for your ongoing support of myself and this talented and dedicated team. It is my pleasure to work alongside each of you as we work proudly together to bring families and friends closer together.

Sincerely,

Thank you to all our Dollywood Hosts for serving up smiles and precious memories to our Guests!
