Next Sunday’s WorshipNovember 8, 2015

November 8, Apple Pie and other Essentials, with Rev. Dr. Tracy Sprowls and Friction Farm. This morning we take a look at November’s theme: “what does it mean to be a people of ancestry?” Since it is the beginning of the month, we might as well start at the beginning! Carl Sagan said “If you want to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe.”

With us this morning is Friction Farm (Aidan Quinn and Christine Stay), a modern folk music duo popular from Florida to Maine.

To SeekTHEME EXERCISE FOR NOVEMBER

What does it mean to be a People of Ancestry?

Bring it BackBeing a people of ancestry means passing on traditions. And it doesn’t take much to notice that so many family traditions are in danger of extinction. The recipe that was required at every Thanksgiving but now no onebothers with. The outdated and supposedly tedious task of writing a handwritten letter. Passing on a family heirloom. Bedtime stories. Family game night. Marking the height of your kids on the kitchen doorway wall. Even sitting down at the dinner table to eat together. Slowly disappearing. Maybe even already gone.

This exercise simply asks you to bring one of them back. Here’s your task, put simply: Dust off an old, forgotten family tradition and protect it from extinction.

Looking for People

Who Like to Smile, Listen, and Meet People.

“Greeters” The welcome we give others

and the way others receive it —is a key ingredient to growing our membership.

Outside Greeters are needed to invite people (friends, members and guests)into our sanctuary on Sunday mornings.

Inside Greeters make our visitors welcome after the service - introducing them to FUSP and our community.

If you would like to assist the membership committee by welcoming visitors, please contact Denise Soppas ([email protected])

The fundraiser runs until early November, so all items will be delivered for Christmas.

With the money we earn we supply our food pantry with non-food necessities such as diapers, soaps and other personal hygiene items. We also send our graduating high school girls off with a small scholarship.

You can view the selections on line at www.CarruthStudio.com. Scroll down to the section labelled "fundraiser".

Please speak to Bonnie Rowan, Lois Laning, Anita Eigen, or any member of Women's Alliance to see a catalog and place an order.
