Werewolf Rising

www.image-entertainment.com RRP £10 13 Sins is a horror film about a a young

girl who has alcohol problems and bad

dreams returning to her childhood

home in the mountains for some rest

and relaxation only for it to be the start

of her fight for survival…

The Love Punch

www.uk.eonefilms.com RRP £9.99 The Love Punch is a British farce and

romantic comedy about a jewellery heist

in the South of France.

Richard (Pierce Brosnan), a close to

retirement businessman who finds out

his company has gone into receivership,

taking his pension pot with it. Having

broken the bad news to his ex-wife Kate

(Emma Thompson) they decide to go on

a mission to reclaim what is rightfully theirs by stealing a $10m

diamond.

The plot to steal the diamond is so far-fetched that it bordered on

plain silliness, from kidnapping some Texans, scuba diving and

gate-crashing a lavish wedding, which does somewhat detract

from some genuinely funny moments.

Transcendence

www.warnerbros.com RRP £12.99 Transcendence starring Johnny Depp,

Morgan Freeman and Paul Bettany is a

sci-fi about a scientist who before dying,

after a terrorist attack, uploads his brain

to a computer becoming a sentient

artificial intelligence.

With more intelligence than the

collective capability than the entire

human race throughout history he sets

about healing the human body from birth defects, diseases and

healing the planet.

The government and a technophobic terrorist don’t like this and

need to put a stop to it. The only way to do so is to destroy the

internet!

Heaven is for Real

www.sonypictures.com RRP £11.99 Heaven is for Real is an excellent faith

based movie about the existence, or

not, of Heaven. Greg Kinnear plays the

part of a struggling father trying to

extremely well.

An absolute joy to watch.

What’s Good To Do Newsletter: Featured Review

Reviewed by Stephanie Moore I was really excited to receive this soft-ware to review as I knew how helpful it would be for my blog and creating wonderful videos. Firstly, a word of warning, this piece

of software isn’t for the faint hearted! There are so many features and there is so much to learn and even after using it for over a month now and making sev-eral videos I am still finding more func-tions to use. However, that said, for the techno-phobes out there I’ve found that you can simply use some great built in tem-plates. These are all pre-done for you to just add your own pictures into each section. These templates make great little videos that looked really well done.

This was the first time I have used a built in template to make a video (and for that matter the first time I’ve used a video editing program) and I must ad-mit I found it really simple. I’m also feeling brave enough to share it with all of you. So, here is a link through to my first template video to show you what I created… www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eraGALHZBk I have been using the main software and designing my videos from scratch and I really have enjoyed it.

Each time you open up a new project you start with a blank canvas, you can add an opening page where you can add animation, text, plain background colours or add in a photo. You can choose from a large selection of transitions to each picture, you don’t need have the same transition each time and you can vary them through-out. You can also lengthen or shorten them to suit your requirements. All this is very simple once you get your head around the functions and I love the fact there is so many options to choose from as you can make really personal videos. So what about those options? There are far too many to list here but you can apply all sorts of effects to your videos to change the look and feel of them. I must admit that I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of all the options that are on offer and I think that there are plenty on offer for the more serious user as well as a casual user like myself. To really add that bit of oomph you can add music to your videos, there is a large music library within the software for you to choose from but you can add in your own music too. So, what happens once you’ve created your masterpiece? What do you do with it? Thankfully help is at hand as you have a plethora of options built into the software.

You can simply save your masterpiece onto your PC/Laptop or burn your vid-eo straight onto a blank CD or DVD. Alternatively you can upload your video directly to any number of online ser-vices such as YouTube, Flickr or Face-book. This last option is very easy to do with only a couple of clicks of a mouse and is a total godsend for me with re-gards to my blog as it takes a lot of the hassle out of using videos in my blog posts. Overall I love this software and I am going to be making my own videos for everything I possibly can! Minimum System Requirements: Processor: Processor with 1.83 GHz RAM: 512 MB Graphics card: Onboard with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768 Sound card: Internal sound card Hard drive space: 2 GB for program installation Optical drive: DVD drive (only for installation of the box version) Internet connection: An Internet connection is required to activate the software

Love writing? Love reading? You’ll love Britain’s Next Bestseller!

We grew tired of seeing the same big brand authors dominating the shelves. Tired of hearing how some of the world’s best loved books nearly didn’t make it to our shelves… Even JK Rowling was advised by an editor to ‘get a day job’ since she had little chance of making money in children’s books. So in March we launched Britain’s Next Bestseller, a new way of publishing. We want to give writers, both aspiring and established, a fairer more profitable way to see their dream go from manuscript to printed book. We want to empower readers so they can decide the books that get published. The books they want to read! How Does It Work? It’s simple. Any UK author can submit a manuscript to us. As long as it is un-published and fully edited. We agree a pre-order target (usually around 250 books) and a deadline (8 to 16 weeks). Our authors have access to a vibrant online platform via www.britainsnextbestseller.co.uk and powerful social media tools. If they demonstrate demand for their book by securing their target pre-orders, they are guaranteed a publishing contract, with industry beating royalties. They will then see their book go from manuscript to printed masterpiece in just 12 weeks. The more popular a manuscript is, the more resources we throw at it to make it

a Bestseller. Readers get a great deal too… browse exciting manuscripts, search out and support that next bestselling author, their name printed in every edition of the book, along with getting a copy of the book two weeks before public release. How is Business Going? In one word. Fantastically! Our website www.britainsnextbestseller.co.uk went live on 31st March 2014. In the first six months of business 15 authors have been awarded publishing deals, with many more on track to reach their targets. Ryan Mark author of “Tremor” a dystopian and post-apocalyptic novel smashed his target in just 8 days. By the end of his campaign he had hit 135% against target. On 28th July – Amazon listed his book as the Number 1 seller of Amazon’s Sci-Fi Dystopian Hot New Releases. You can order it here www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1906954836. We have an excellent Facebook and Twitter following that is growing daily. We were also incredibly lucky to have Stephen Fry tweet about one of our young authors a couple of times, helping to drum up support for his book on teen-age depression. And we have received some great press coverage too! Our books cover a vast range of genres – children’s picture books, paranormal romances, inspirational life stories, self-help, thrillers, historical novels, science fiction and fantasy… something for every taste. We were very happy to be asked by ‘What’s Good To Do’ to sponsor their

books category. So please keep an eye out as I am sure you will be seeing some reviews of our books on their site soon. Love Writing? Well what are you waiting for? If you are ready, submit your manuscript visit our site, alternatively if you have some questions first please email [email protected] Our CEO Murielle Maupoint holds regular Q&A sessions via Twitter, so follow us on @BNBSbooks so you know when the next one is. Love Reading? If you want to hunt out something new and help support new talent. If you want to decide who we publish and help launch a career please visit www.britainsnextbestseller.co.uk Britain’s Next Bestseller is the place where readers decide the books that get published and where authors can land a publishing deal. Boris and The Dumb Skulls

by Frank Hinks

www.ramion-books.com

RRP: £7.99 ISBN: 9780954704698

WGTD Rating: 5/5

Boris the floating skull is back in the

16th book in the Ramion adventure

series. Boris the floating skull is still

without his body as Charlie Stench, The

Body Collector, still has it. Boris is now

looking for fame and freedom from his

mistress, Griselda the Witch. While in

the shed talking to the 3 dim daft dwarves, Julioso, Aliano and Benjio,

who are Griselda’s guards, they decide to start a punk rock band called

Boris and The Dumb Skulls. Boris will be the lead singer while the

dwarves will be the band playing the instruments.

First they need instruments so Boris has to steal some of Griselda’s

gold, take it to town and exchange it for cash and then buy guitars,

drums and amplifiers to build their band. Meanwhile, Griselda needs to

fill her larder with children (this is her favourite food source) and

hatches a plan to get Boris’ body back from Charlie Stench so that she

can marry Boris and have lots of children.

After a month of practising Boris and The Dumb Skulls get their first gig

at a local pub, The Polhill Arms, but have been followed by Fifi, a dead

French witch who loves to dance, and her jealous dead husband.

The father of Julius, Alexander and Benjamin – 3 brothers who just love

adventure, decides to go and see the band without their mother

knowing and this is the start of a new adventure of the boys and their

magic cat Snuggle.

Will Griselda fulfil her plan to marry Boris, will Boris and the dwarves

find the fame and freedom they carve and will the boys get their father

home before their mother finds out what is going on?

Overall, Boris and The Dumb Skulls is a great children’s adventure filled

with humour and some excellent characters including witches, magic

cats, ghosts, mummies, vampires and of course, a floating skull. It is

very well written, easy to read and very entertaining. Children will love

it and parents will enjoy reading it with them.

What do the grown-ups do? Richard the Vet

by Mairi McLellan

www.kidseducationalnooks.com

RRP: £7.99 ISBN: 9781783065264

WGTD Rating: 5/5

Richard the Vet is one of a series of

educational books for children aged 5-10 years and is set in

rural Scotland. The Mackenzie girls, Ava, Sky and Gracie,

investigate various jobs they may like to do when they are

grown up.

For a short book it explained nicely the length and time

involved in training to be a qualified vet and the importance

of academic qualifications. It points out both the good and

bad points about the job, which I thought was excellent. It

also talks about how to behave around animals and how not

to frighten and distress them, all really useful stuff, especial-

ly for children that haven’t grown up around large animals.

A good informative book that explains a lot in only 34 pages.

Come Back Dear Sun

by Geena Bean

www.geenabean.com

RRP: £5.99 | ISBN: 9781479393114

WGTD Rating: 5/5

Come Back Dear Sun is a wonderful children’s book written by Geena

Bean in rhyme. It tells the story of the sun going missing as it feels under-appreciated as children no longer go out to play, they are too busy staying indoors watching television or playing video games. It is also beautifully illustrated by Cherri Webber.

A very impressive, well-written story that will appeal to children and adults. Younger children will also like the rhyming story and the colourful illustrations. While only 36 pages it packs a powerful message without preaching.

Highly recommended. A great read.
