(Hong Kong, 25 July 2016) With less than a month to go, Hong Kong is getting excited to welcome
athletes from across the world for the first Arnold Classic Asia Multi-Sport Festival, 19-21 August
2016. The first festival of its kind in the region and is a celebration of sports, fitness and health that
brings families, professionals, amateurs and enthusiasts together. Participants will have the
opportunity to engage with over 20 sports through competitions, demonstrations, and try-outs.
Thousands of athletes and over hundreds of health and fitness brands will be all under one roof in a
space that reaches over 22,000 square metres – almost the size of three rugby fields.
The world’s largest multi-sport festival will give the community a chance to experience the health
and fitness industry in a way the city has never seen before. During the two-days, participants will
be able to watch elite athletes and world champion level competitions including strongman, arm
wrestling, body building, and pole fitness. They will be able to join in competitions such as crossfit,
weightlifting, fencing, chess, rubik’s cube, pole fitness, strongman and bodybuilding. Demonstrations
to look forward to include skate boarding, jump rope, krav maga, judo, and other forms of martial
arts, dance sports, table tennis, street workout, cirque and more.
Families and friends can come and try out sports with coaches on hand to guide them. These include
rowing, cycling, lion dancing, table tennis, yoga, martial arts, cirque training and more. Parents and
kids can race to see who has the fastest row, have a friendly match of arm wrestling, or even get
involved in the table tennis roadshow.
With hundreds of brands represented, there will be something of interest for everyone. Festival-
goers will be able preview and try out some of Hong Kong’s best gyms and fitness institutions,
sample wellness products from Official Natural Health Partner Swisse, beverages from Drinks
Partner Gatorade and a market from some of Hong Kong’s most interesting brands. Participants will
also be able to purchase a range of apparel with brands on sale for the very first time in Hong Kong
and exclusively over the weekend at the Arnold Classic Asia Multi-Sport Festival 2016.
An initiative of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Arnold Classic Asia is brought to Hong Kong by Richard
Petty, Chairman of Arnold Classic Asia: “The Arnold Classic Asia celebrates fitness as a way of
life and brings people together of all backgrounds in and friends. Tickets are now on sale at
www.arnoldclassicasia.com from HKD150 per adult, HKD80 for under 18 years and full-time
students, and free entry for children under 12 years.” With only a few weeks to go, it’s time to plan
the weekend with family.
Top 11 highlights of the Arnold Classic Asia Multi-Sport Festival 2016:
Who knew that a childhood playground game was
also a sport that over 60,000 teenagers in the city take
part in every year? Hong Kong Rope Skipping
Federation will hold the Hong Kong Jump Rope
Open Championship at the Festival this year. The
international championship will showcase world-class
level sport with over 80 athletes from 10 countries
including USA, China, Singapore and Malaysia. The
Championship is sanctioned by World Jump Rope
Federation and recognised by Asia and Pacific Jump
Rope Federation.
Fun Fact: The Hong Kong Rope Skipping Team has
performed all around the world, winning 20 gold
medals in the 2015 World Jump Rope Championship,
including gold medals for speed and freestyle events.
Watch a World Record Attempt with Zydrunas “Big
Z” Savickas (191cm, 180kg) taking on the log lift. He
is 4x World’s Strongest Man, 8x Arnold Classic
Strongman World Champion and is a multiple world
record holder for the log lift as well as holding the most
recent world record at Arnold Classic Brazil lifting
228kg.
A spectacle like no other, check out the most exciting
new sport gaining popularity globally – Street
Workout. It aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and
make exercise easily accessible through working out
at the park with bodyweight. Don’t miss exciting
demonstrations and workshops at the Festival
throughout the weekend with The World Street
Workout and Calisthenics Federation.
Ever wanted to take a self-defense class? Join the
latest trend with Krav Maga, an Israeli form of martial
arts. Over the weekend, take part in workshops and
demonstrations with Hong Kong’s highest level Krav
Maga instructor, Derek Poon, Director of International
Krav Maga Federation, Hong Kong.
Cheer for the kids on the playing field over the
weekend with a fun-filled round of touch rugby
matches planned by the Hong Kong Rugby Union.
There will be 16 teams and 240 players at the
festival.
Make sure to get a selfie with some of the national
players in attendance.
Challenge a friend to a heat race on the cycling and
rowing machines. For spin and rowing lovers,
coaches are on hand from the Cycling Association of
Hong Kong and Hong Kong China Rowing
Association throughout the weekend to teach new
tricks.
Ever heard of the term “mind sport”? One of Arnold
Schwarzenegger’s personal favourites, the Chess
Tournament will be open for both juniors under 16
and adults to come and play on a first come first
served basis on both days. The Hong Kong Chess
Federation will be judging based on the Swiss System
7 rounds Rapid (15mins +10 seconds from move #1
each side).
Yoga lovers rejoice as there will be large scale
classes open for the whole family to try in the
mornings. EPIC Yoga’s lead yoga instructor Victor
Chau and master Hari Krishna will teach participants
all about balance, flexibility and endurance.
Brush up on table tennis skills with help from expert
coaches from the Hong Kong Table Tennis
Association. It’s never too late to learn new tips and
tricks. Participants can choose who they would like to
compete against and have a competition of their own
throughout the weekend.
Hong Kong Fencing Association individual
members, non-members and overseas fencers are
invited to compete on Sunday – showing off their
tremendous skills - with the foil, epee and saber
challenges taking place. It’s time to draw out those
weapons and advance!
Get ready for the EPIC Throwdown – a show of
fitness bringing together a community of like-minded
teams to take part in a challenging but fun
competition. Open to any 4 person team comprising
of 2 male competitors and 2 female competitors,
register now for an opportunity to test strength, cardio,
gymnastics, Olympic lifting and more. Workouts will
be released starting 8 August 2016.

one weekend. The debut festival will feature unique, non-stop sports competitions and interactive
workshops from over 20 sports. From mind sports such as chess, to table tennis, skip rope, rugby,
arm-wrestling, weight lifting, cycling, yoga, rowing, martial arts such as tai chi, judo, krav maga, kung
fu and more. Attendees will also be able discover the latest in health and wellness trends, with the
chance to engage with over 300 participating brands. Tickets are now on sale at

The much anticipated Arnold Classic Asia IFBB Pro Show debuts at the inaugural Arnold Classic
Asia Multi-Sport Festival. Watch the world’s strongest men demonstrate their formidable muscles,
and see awe-inspiring women combine gymnastics, acrobatics, dance and plyometrics with
elegance and grace at the Arnold Classic Asia IFBB Pro Show on Saturday, 20 August from 6pm.
The Arnold Classic Asia IFBB Pro Show 2016 will feature international bodybuilding favourites
including USA’s Brandon Curry who has won the Arnold Classic in Brazil, French world
champion Lionel Beyeke, Russian world champion Alexander Federal, Fred Smalls, Fouad Abiad,
Paulo Almeida, Justin Compton, Jon De La Rosa, Clarence De Vis, Roman Fritz, Andrew Hudson,
Michael Kefalianos, Brad Rowe, Akim Williams, and Lukas Wyler.
The Women’s Pro Fitness will showcase a combination of gymnastics, fitness, dance and
acrobatics. Don’t miss international competitors Marta Aguiar, Regiane Da Silva, Kristine Duba,
Ryall Graber, Tanji Johnson, Diana Monteiro, Aurika Tyrgale and Bethany Wagner performing on

About Arnold Classic Asia Multi-Sport Festival
The world’s largest annual multi-sport festival is coming to Asia, with the inaugural Arnold Classic
Asia being hosted in Hong Kong on 19-21 August 2016. An initiative of Arnold Schwarzenegger, it

The Multi-Sport Festival is brought to Hong Kong by businessman Richard Petty, Chairman of Arnold
