The talented school choirs of Innsworth Junior School, Rednock School and Gretton Primary School will add to the magic of the evening by performing a range of Christmas carols, songs and readings by candlelight.

Monday 9 December 8.00pm Mediaeval Baebe’s Christmas ShowA festive favourite with audiences, the Mediaeval Baebes are back this year.With lush, ethereal harmonies transporting the listener through myriad ancient and forgotten languages, the choir weaves its story-telling magic through original settings of mediaeval texts, as well as reinventing traditional folk songs and carols, often accompanied by a dazzling array of exotic and period instruments.2019 sees the release of the group’s 9th studio album, the fantastical “A Pocket Full of Posies”, celebrating the dark, surreal and mystical in all the well-known nursery rhymes, handed down through the mothers of the British Isles. To mark this release, this year’s 12 date UK winter concert tour will see the first visitations to these ancient songs, intermingled with numerous seasonal favourites.

Throughout DecemberKnitivityThe ever popular Knitivity will be welcomed back to the Cathedral this December and will be on display for visitors to enjoy from Saturday 7 December and will remain in pride of place in the Cathedral throughout Advent.
Highlighting the important Nativity story in a colourful and accessible way, the entirely knitted life size Knitivity shares messages of hope and unity through its unique creation by community groups across the county. The collaborative display promotes crafting for wellbeing and provides visitors to the Cathedral with a very special display during the festive season.

Bringing together the world of classical and flamenco guitar. Join two of the UK’s finest guitarists as they take you on an unforgettable journey through the musical landscape of Spain. In this unique collaboration, classical guitarist Michael Christian Durrant and flamenco guitarist Samuel Moore explore the intriguing connections and subtle differences that both bring together and set apart the musical worlds of classical and flamenco guitar.
This unique concert platform brings together a vivid selection of music by Spanish composers such as Joaquin Rodrigo, Issac Albeniz and Manuel de Falla, alongside music from the flamenco tradition, including palos such as Sevillana, Zorongo and Malaguena. JANUARY
Hymnus Paradisi was first performed at the Gloucester Three Choirs Festival of 1950. The work is set in six movements that combine the texts of psalms, the Latin mass and other sacred texts. This will be a friendly, informal session led by one of the UK’s most renowned choral conductors who studied under Howell’s at the Royal College of Music. If you’re a keen singer (you don’t have to be a member of GCS) come along, warm up those vocal chords and join in.

How to play:Become a Player by donating to the pot. Work with other Players to decide what to spend the group’s money on. You have 1 hour to come to a decision. If you decide unanimously in the allotted time you get to take the money away and spend it. But if you don’t agree with your fellow players you relinquish your privilege to spend the money and the money rolls over to the next show.
If you’re the quiet observing type you can become a Silent Witness and watch as the group of Players attempt to decide how to spend the money they’ve donated. And if you want to voice your opinion you can always become a Player by buying your way in.Spend the money on whatever you want. Be as creative as you like. Just keep within the law.

Part of the celebrations to mark 20 years of GARAS and 80 years since ten boys arrived in Gloucester as part of the Kindertransport. All ten were looked after in Alexander Road by Gloucester Association for Refugees. This immersive walkthrough light installation, installed in the beautiful Lady Chapel, recognises the contribution made to Gloucestershire by refugees throughout its history. www.garas.org.uk

How to find usThe Cathedral is located in the historic heart of Gloucester and our spectacular tower can be seen from many spots in and around the city.
Arriving by Public TransportThe Cathedral is located in Gloucester Town Centre and is located within easy reach of the main railway and bus station. It is a 10-15 minute steady walk. Look out for Finger sign posts that will point you in the right direction.
Parking Parking in the Cathedral Close is restricted to pass holders only. There are eight disabled parking spaces which are for use by Blue Badge holders on a first come first served basis.
