THE VOICE OF THE GROUP, THE BODY AS A CONCEPT AS RELATED TO AUTHORSHIP AND OWNERSHIP, THEORIGINAL / COPY ARE NOTIONS DEALT WITH IN MY MIND.

SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT SOMETHING.

IN MY FUTILE ATTEMPT TO TRY TO FIND SOMETHING, ANYTHING, THAT ISN’T ALREADY DIVIDED IEXPERIENCE GLORIOUS FAILURE WHICH I EMBRACE AND PRESENT AS ART.

I AM FASCINATED BY THE POWER OF REFUSAL, THE VERY IDEA OF NOT DOING SOMETHING EVEN THOUGHYOU ARE CAPABLE OF DOING IT, THE RIGHT AND CREATIVE BEAUTY OF POTENTIAL TO DO, COMPARED TOTHE REALITY OF THE DONE.

THE NOTION THAT THE MORE LANGUAGE YOU HAVE THE HARDER IT IS TO SAY SOMETHING APPEALS. ASDOES THE IDEA THAT WHERE LANGUAGE FAILS POSSIBLY ART BEGINS.

VISUAL LOVE AND LINGUISTIC AND LINGUISTIC AND AUDIO AUDIO BASTARD HALLUCINATION.

jason evans:you’re gonna need a bigger boat

WEDNESDAY 19 APRIL – FRIDAY 19 MAY 2017

Curated by photographer Jason Evans, this new exhibition brings together artefacts from ourindustrial, consumer society. Handmade signage recalls local commerce, pre-globalization,and highlights ongoing transitions from analogue to digital. Some of the objects on showremain in circulation today, yet serve as a nostalgic reminder of the technological changes inour recent past.

The exhibition features pages from the archive of Dick Hambidge, a sign writer from East Kent,who documented his works in meticulous photographic albums, presenting an alternativerecord of provincial life.

Also on show is a selection of erudite political ‘lampoons’ by Ditching printmaker PhilipHagreen. His woodcuts feel as relevant now as when they were published eighty years ago.

Visitors will be able to see an intriguing selection of original items from Clark Brothers ofManchester, who continue to hand produce point-of-sale marketing materials for adisappearing high street.

Finally, the exhibition will also feature a selection of locally relevant material, an interactivephoto opportunity, social media content, a marketing soundtrack and a new series of Evans’own binary screen prints.

ART AND DESIGNDEGREE SHOW SATURDAY 3 – SATURDAY 10 JUNE 2017

Nottingham Trent University’s (NTU) annual Art and Design Degree Show is one of the largestexhibitions of work by graduating artists and designers in the UK.

Taking centre stage in Nottingham’s creative calendar in June, the week-long event iscompletely free to the public, and takes place in the Bonington, Newton, Arkwright, Waverley,and Barnes Wallis buildings on the NTU City Campus.

The 2017 event will unite the creative force of just over 1,200 final year students in subjectsspanning visual arts, photography and graphic design; fashion, knitwear and textile design;fashion management, marketing and communication; theatre, media, film and costumedesign; as well as architecture, interiors, product and furniture design.
