AMD Hardware EncodeDesign Considerations

• Currently supported with VDAs for Desktop OS.

• AMD GPUs must support the RapidFire SDK. For ex, AMD Radeon Pro or FirePro GPUs.

• Only h.264 encoding will be supported in this release. Selective use of the H.264 hardware codec for actively changing regions is supported.

• Currently Supported only on Remote-PC and GPU-PassThru modes. Requires a newer version of Citrix Hypervisor to support vGPU with AMD MxGPU.

• RapidFire supports only color space YUV 4:2:0. If user configures YUV4:4:4 using visual lossless policy, then software encoding will be used

• Encode saturation notification scheme will not be available

• Lossless text is not compatible with AMD hardware encoding. If you enable lossless text, it takes priority over AMD hardware encoding.

• To enable it in Group Policy, complete the following steps:– Open the Group Policy Management Editor.

– Under Policies > Administrative Templates: Policy definitions (ADM) > Classic Administrative Templates (ADM) > Citrix > Profile Management > Profile handling,

– Double-click the Automatic migration of existing application profiles policy.

– Select Enabled and then click OK

– For your changes to take effect, run the gpupdate /forcecommand from the command prompt. Log off all sessions and then log on again.
