What’s New in V10.6?

This abbreviated Atriuum update cycle included several new features specifically based on customer requests.

Administration FeaturesA Remember Branch check box has been added to the Log On form for the librarian side of Atriuum (Centralized versions of Atriuum only). This option will remember the selected Branch so you can set it and forget it.

Generic Dust Jacket Images [Administration | OPAC | Searching | Assign Media Icons: Edit Images (button) or Administration | Catalog | Media Icons: Edit Images (button)] display in the OPAC of Atriuum behind the title as another way to identify the material type. They replace the colored (red, blue, purple, green, etc.) book images when there isn’t a Dust Jacket Image from an OPAC Snapshot subscription. With this release, therehave been new ones added for Audio Device, Braille, Equipment2, and Games.

If you need to automatically mark items lost after a prolonged overdue period, use this setting (Administration | Circulation | Circulation Settings: Automatically Mark Overdue Items Lost After X Days). The field is delivered empty, meaning the feature is disabled by default.

If overdue items aren’t being returned despite email notifications, enable this option (Administration | Patrons | Patron Settings: Perpetually Send Overdue Emails). This setting is linked to the one above it, Resend Overdue Warning To Patron In X Days. When enabled, the perpetual setting will continuously send the email every X days as specified until the item is returned.

Circulation FeaturesMaterial Type has been added to the flyouts of items added to the queue and as a new column on theCirculation Desk.

The Material Type has also been added to the circulation receipts for the Circulation Desk and the Circulation Menu.

The Circulation Menu and Circulation Desk check in forms now have a Waive Overdue Fines option to handle fine amnesty days. Any overdue items checked in while this flag is set will automatically waive the fine. Assessed and waived fines are recorded in statistics and history. (Appropriate Worker Permission required)

Patron Features The latest addition to the Patrons Menu is the ability to merge two patron records (Patrons | Consolidate Patrons). If you suspect duplication, simply search for two records, compare, and consolidate. All circulation, fines, and history move from one record to the other.

A link to Fullfill Reserve With Alternate Item has been added to the List Of Reserves form. This featureallows a reservation to be fulfilled with another item. For example, a paperback or large print could beused in place of the hardback holding originally requested.

When reviewing a patron’s record, a similar button has been added to the Reserve Details form, locatedon the Patron Information screen.

OPAC FeaturesUsers of both Atriuum and Booktracks can now allow students logged on to My Items in OPAC to see what textbooks/assets they have checked out along with currently checked out library materials.

This feature requires Common Login to be set up between the two programs (Server settings, contact Book Systems’ Techincal Support for assistance) and for the students’ patron records to share the same patron link identifier/student link. Once those pieces are in place, enable the setting (Administration | OPAC | Add Ons: Booktracks Circulation In My Items).

What’s New in V10.5?

Administration FeaturesPatron Pictures can now be displayed in Check In results, allowing the librarian using the Circulation Menu or Circulation Desk, or the patron using Self Check In, to verify the correct person returned the circulated item. This feature is disabled by default and can be enabled under Administration | Circulation | Circulation Settings: Show Patron Picture On Check In.

Note: The Administration | Library | Library Settings: Display Links Instead Of Pictures option must be set to “No” to see pictures.

Atriuum’s Custom Sounds feature has been expanded to allow different circulation sounds based on Item Circulation Class; for instance, DVDs, ILL items, or anything that might require separate attention could have a different successfully checked out or failure sound to draw attention. These sounds play in regular Circulation or Self Check Stations, allowing a librarian or patrons to know if special items (such as items designated in a library scavenger hunt) were checked out. The sounds per Item Circulation Type are edited in the same location as other sounds, Administration | Library | Custom Sounds. In the absence of custom sounds for an item circulation class, the default sounds will play.

Media Icons & Generic Dust Jacket Images (Administration | OPAC | Searching | Assign Media Icons) More Media Icons have been added so that patrons can easily recognize the assigned Material Type. What’s New in V10.5?Generic Dust Jacket Images display in the OPAC behind the title as another way to identify the type of material. They replace the colored (red, blue, purple, green, etc.) book images when there isn’t a Dust Jacket Image from an OPAC Snapshot subscription. New ones have been added for Seed Library, Web Resources, Magazines, PDFs, and Photos.

Librarian DesktopThe new Projected Due Date widget displays the date items will be due for the default Item Circulation Class when checked out by patrons in your default Patron Circulation Class. Custom Item Statuses can now be hidden in OPAC. From Administration | Circulation | Custom Item Status, there is a column called Exclude From OPAC. Editing the Custom Item Status will allow you to change the designation. Any items with this status will not be shown in OPAC when enabled.

If you chose to allow patrons to register for a library card online via OPAC they can. The request will be e-mailed to the librarian and recorded in the database as a request. Requests can be reviewed and rejected or accepted (which transfers the data to a new patron record). The feature is disabled by default. To enable go to Administration | OPAC | Settings: Allow Patrons To Register For Library Card Online. Click Edit Settings to open the OPAC Administration: Online Registration Setting form. From here you can enable the setting, decide on mandatory registration form fields, create terms and conditions, and more.

Atriuum now provides a group of Custom Header Images from several of our OPAC themes. You may choose a delivered stock image from the drop-down list or upload one of your own images. This list is accessible from Administration | OPAC | Themes And Layouts: Custom Header Image.
