Beautification Strategy for Town Will Offer Rewards
The Town is encouraging all of our businesses to present a positive and attractive image. Each year starting in the spring of 2011 the Town will recognize a business with its New Business Beautification Award. The recipient will be provided a Certificate by the Town and a write-up of the Business will be included in the Town's Full page advertisement in the Telegram's Horizons
Library Programs Set for FallEdition. Keep watching for the entry guidelines etc. that will be published in the early spring.
The Town's preschool Tots & Us program resumes on Wednesday, September 8th at the PCSP Rec Centre. This is a drop in program Businesses will be judged based on the following Criteria on a between 10:00 a.m. and 12 noon. The fee is $2.00 per child and a Scale 1-5.healthy snack is provided. This is the perfect opportunity to meet other young mothers and care givers , chat and share ideas about parent and
?· Signs - attractive and invitingchildren issues. This is a tree-nut and peanut free environment.
?· Access - clean and tidy?· Building - well kept and attractive
The fall session of the Library's Storytime program resumes on ?· Presence of Flowers (annuals or perennials on premises) Wednesday, September 15th. There are spaces available for the ?· Parking lot Pavement - good condition and clean Wednesday afternoon slot, (2:00 to 2:40 p.m.) Storytime consists of a ?· Window Displays - attractive and appropriate to business themed coloring sheet, a read- aloud story and an easy themed craft to ?· Any unusual/extra touch to enhance the place follow. This session will last until December 10th, at a cost of $10.00 per
child. Seasonal parties are also included. This is also a tree-nut and peanut free environment.

Motorist AdvisoryTraffic Flow at Beachy Cove Elementary
School
Effective immediately the entrance and exit to Beachy Cove Elementary School has been REVERSED. All traffic must ENTER through the west access (formerly the exit) and EXIT through the east access (formerly the entrance). This is to facilitate the loading and unloading of buses at the rear of the school. The access around the school is now limited to bus and service traffic. Signs have been posted to clearly identify this change and direct all motorists to the new traffic flow.
RNC to Provide Neighbourhood Watch
Information Session
RNC Constable Karen Hemmens, as well as a representative with the City of St. John’s Neighborhood Watch Program, will be at the Town Office on September 2nd, 7:30pm to encourage residents of Portugal Cove - St. Philip’s to implement our own Neighbourhood Watch Program. The RNC is hosting a meeting and inviting all residents and interested parties to participate.

2010 Killick Coast Summer Games
thThe Town of Torbay hosted the 5 Annual Killick Coast Summer th thGames from August 8 – 12 . Participants of these games came from
the communities of Torbay, Pouch Cove, Flatrock, Outer Cove, Middle Cove, Logy Bay, and Portugal Cove – St. Philip's. The
participants from Portugal Cove - St. Philip's desire a huge 'pat on the back' for the efforts they displayed at these games. They captured medals in Soccer and Softball. The Portugal Cove – St. Philip's Recreation Department would like to send out a special thank you to all those who helped to
make these games such a success for the athletes of our community. Special thanks to the coaches; Jimmy Murphy,
Stanley Johnson, Glen Greeley, Steph Murphy, Brian Rice and Sylvia Tobin. Also thanks to Mr. Les Spurrell for participating in the games as our Community Patron. Congratulations to all the participants on a job well done. The 2011 Killick Coast Games will be hosted by
the Town of Portugal Cove - St. Philip's.
Congratulations to the PCSP Minor Soccer Teams on their excellent showings at the NLSA provincial championships. The U14 Boys team received the silver medal in B division at the provincial championship in Mount Pearl during the weekend of Aug 13-15th and the U12 Boys received the gold medal in B division at the provincial
th ndchampionship in Gander August 20 -22 ! Once again congratulations to the Mayor, Council, staff, and residence of PCSP!
PCSP Rowing Club Puts Off Another Great End of Season Regatta
Congratulations to the PCSP Rowing club for yet another great year. This year numerous new records were set, many of them by the club’s very own rowers. Record times were published in the North East Avalon Times, for anyone wishing to view them.
