What Would Jesus Undo? Week Three: “Unbelief” I Corinthians 10:1-13 Jesus can undo our unbelief when we learn to trust in a loving God. This season of Lent we are asking a difficult question… Instead of asking “What Would Jesus Do?” This Lenten season, ask: “What Would Jesus Undo?” Today: How Can Jesus Undo our Unbelief? Let’s do a confirmation class exercise… Think about how you viewed God when you were a kid… Now draw a picture of that God on the card that has been provided for you. How have your ideas changed about that image of God? SO I WAS IN A BAR WITH AN ATHEIST… Describe to me the God that you don’t believe in… JESUS CAN UNDO OUR UNBELIEF WHEN WE LEARN TO TRUST IN A LOVING GOD 1 Corinthians 10:1-13 Background of Corinth and the struggles of the church there. The city was dominated by a huge temple to Apollo among others. Paul is railing here against the temptations of idolatry You get the idea that the God he’s describing here is judgmental & angry This passage has been used to perpetuate bigotry, hatred, etc. It can also reinforce a fear that God is punishing But they do take on the real world—real issues that we all face In the end, according to Paul, what counts is God’s faithfulness to us God is not angry. God is not punishing.
