CBS Technology

CBS houses are individually planned but industrially produced. From the planning stage until the keys are delivered, engineers provide the architect and civil engineer with technical support, thus eliminating any potential sources of error. The structure consists of wall-, ceiling- and roof elements, which are assembled with slot and key connections. These elements are calculated by CBS CAD software before they are fabricated. Besides this, the exceptional ease of transport and installation distinguishes the CBS system from any competing prefabricated building systems. All CBS elements provide thermal and sound insulation as well as fire and corrosion protection and can be equipped with an integrated solar air conditioning cooling and heating system. Additional decorative wall covering is optional.

FLEXIBLESteel frame

In CBS elements a frame of thin, cold-formed steel provides the building with strength and increases the durabilty. These steel frames are built to resist the same pressure as conventional steel mats, but are substantially lighter. By using this technique, it is possible to separate the building’s static and the physical properties: There is no need for heavy walls; which don’t have good thermal values, because the building’s strength is provided by the steel embedded building elements. This enables the architect to focus on the aesthetic properties of the building instead of its dynamics.

Lightweight concrete

The steel frames are placed in molds which are then casted with lightweight concrete; made from water, cement, foam and sand. The proportions of these ingredients can be varied to adjust the physical properties of the resulting concrete, to meet any requirement. The essential factor is the density of the concrete, which is variable from 300 to 1800 kg/m3.

Profiles

All CBS elements are connected to one another through the steel profiles, which are specially designed to form groove and tongue connections, which add to the overall effective static load distribution.

Walls / Ceiling / Roof

CBS elements can be up to 10m in length (compared to 3m limit of conventional systems). Additionally, CBS elements weigh about 60% less than conventional walls, which is especially advantageous during handling and transport. The heating system and supply tubes are integrated during production. All CBS elements can be combined with conventional constructions.

Air-conditioning by radiation

The CBS solar air-conditioning system establishes a healthy living climate, even for individuals sensitive to allergies.

Renewable raw materials

CBS foam concrete is a fully recyclable material, consisting of cement, water, foam and sand.

Earthquake safe

A constant circulation of liquid within the mesh distributes absorbed heat immediately aroundthe house. Therefore, the interior of a CBS building always has a constant temperature. A heat exchanger and a heat storage unit take in surplus energy during the day, which is used to operate the system by night. With this system, energy costs can be minimized to the costs of running the pumps.

Production process

Steel Frames

The first step in the production process is the forming of galvanized sheets of steel into the different profiles. This process saves energy as the steel does not have to be heated.

Jointing

The profiles are then formed into light steel frameworks. A special jointing technique has been established and certified for this step of the production.

Before final concreting of the elements, supply tubes for electrical equipment and the piping for the cooling and heating system are integrated into the steel frame. Door and window openings are created, enabling pre-installation of windows at the assembly line.

Concrete

The framework is then filled with foam concrete mixed in the predetermined formula. Finally the concrete is distributed and flattened by machines and left to harden.

Installation

The elements can be stored or transported directly to the building site. Handling and installation are done very precise and with evident ease.
