thankful for the amazing staff and wonderful residents at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.”
Kristi, Director of Nursing: “This holiday season, I am so thankful for all of the kind, caring staff that I work with each and everyday. Each person contributes a little something that make our residents feel loved and important. They are truly special individuals and should be proud of what they do for our residents.”
Kim, Assistant Director of Nursing: “I am thankful everything that I have learned on how to be truly happy, and that I
have very few regrets in life.”
Sharmen, Community Life Director: “My family, my faith, my health, and a great place to work are what I am thankful
for.”
Tracie, Social Services: “I am thankful for my family, friends, good health and the many blessings along the way.”

for his family so dearly, and though he is no longer with us, I know he is looking down on us with joy and love. Merry
Christmas.”
Kerma, Medical Records: “Thank you to all of the residents, families, volunteers and staff for making great memories in
2017 at Aberdeen Health & Rehab, and looking forward to an amazing 2018.”
Kirstie, Business Office Manager: “I am thankful for how my family has grown over the last year with the new
grandchildren. We will all be together this year during the holiday season, a first in many years!”

Jamie Deuel
Social Services Designee
Jamie has been with Aberdeen Health & Rehab for over 3 years. She started as a
CNA and is now with Social Services. She was born and raised right here in
Aberdeen. Jamie attended Aberdeen Central High School and went on to major
in Psychology from Northern State University. One of her favorite vacations she
has been on wasn’t really a vacation at all - she went on a church mission trip to
help people in Mexico. Jamie has one brother and one sister, and is a very proud
‘auntie’ to Rylie and Brody.
When asked about what her favorite part about Aberdeen Health & Rehab is,
Jamie said “I enjoy building relationships with all the residents and their families. I
enjoy being able to help whenever I can.”. Jamie enjoys spending time with family
and friends, shopping, and going to the car races at the Brown County Speedway
in the summer.
Aberdeen Health & Rehab is fortunate to have such a great staff member like
Jamie. Thanks for all you do!

It’s Influenza Season!
Influenza season is upon us. Influenza is identified as Influenza A or B. Influenza is often mis-
taken for the flu which is actually the “stomach flu”. Influenza is a respiratory virus. It often
effects the elderly and children population harder. Our residents and staff that were able to
get vaccinated have been. According to the South Dakota Department of Health, the Influenza cases
are at a local level meaning the one hundred and forty-six confirmed cases thus far are local or in
specific areas of the state. We are not yet seeing a regional or wide spread outbreak. There have been
twenty-six hospitalizations so far this year. Zero deaths have been reported. In the previous year the
peak week was the third week in February. We do not have a peak week yet for this year. It will more
than likely follow last year’s pattern, but there are reports stating it could be as late as the beginning of
March. Medical professionals are still encouraging everyone that is able to get vaccinated. The
vaccination may not prevent Influenza from happening but it can shorten the period of illness. We ask
all visitors to not visit if you feel ill. Common symptoms include cough, fever, body aches, chills, etc. If
you have a cough or other virus we ask that you wear a mask while in our facility. If you have
questions about Influenza or any of our infection control practices please contact the
front office or call the facility.
