‘auntie’ to Rylie and Brody.

When asked about what her favorite part about Aberdeen Health & Rehab is,

Jamie said “I enjoy building relationships with all the residents and their families. I

enjoy being able to help whenever I can.”. Jamie enjoys spending time with family

It’s Influenza Season!

Influenza season is upon us. Influenza is identified as Influenza A or B. Influenza is often mis-

taken for the flu which is actually the “stomach flu”. Influenza is a respiratory virus. It often

effects the elderly and children population harder. Our residents and staff that were able to

get vaccinated have been. According to the South Dakota Department of Health, the Influenza cases

are at a local level meaning the one hundred and forty-six confirmed cases thus far are local or in

specific areas of the state. We are not yet seeing a regional or wide spread outbreak. There have been

twenty-six hospitalizations so far this year. Zero deaths have been reported. In the previous year the

peak week was the third week in February. We do not have a peak week yet for this year. It will more

than likely follow last year’s pattern, but there are reports stating it could be as late as the beginning of

March. Medical professionals are still encouraging everyone that is able to get vaccinated. The

vaccination may not prevent Influenza from happening but it can shorten the period of illness. We ask

all visitors to not visit if you feel ill. Common symptoms include cough, fever, body aches, chills, etc. If

you have a cough or other virus we ask that you wear a mask while in our facility. If you have

questions about Influenza or any of our infection control practices please contact the

front office or call the facility.
