Summary Starting August 24, 2020, Metro contractors will conduct utility investigations on Alameda and Los Angeles Streets in support of the Los Angeles Union Station Forecourt and Esplanade Improvements Project. This work will begin with ground-penetrating radar, a method of scanning for below- ground utilities using a noiseless, stroller-like device. Following this work, contractors will excavate the street to survey utilities by potholing and trenching, and will sample the soil conditions with soil boring. This work requires using machinery that may generate noise. Metro will continue to update the public as more information becomes available.
