Licensing for the PC-based RoadLog Fleet Management software:

The PC-based Fleet Management software comes with two Vehicle licenses included.

If you have either one or two Vehicles, you don’t need any additional licenses.

If you have more than two Vehicles, you’ll need additional licensing.

Additional license extension cards are sold in 5-license increments and can be bought through your RoadLog retailer.

Licenses can be reassigned from one Vehicle to another, but Vehicles without a license have limited functions available in the Fleet Management Software.

Here’s an example of what a Fleet would need when using the PC-based Software:

If a Fleet had 15 Vehicles and 20 Drivers, it would need:

Licensing for the Internet-based RoadLog Online software:

A Fleet using the Internet-based Fleet Online software gets vehicle licensing when they purchase an ELD subscription for each RoadLog-equiped vehicle.

The subscriptions are purchased from the

RoadLog Online website.License Extension Cards are not needed for a Fleet using the Internet-based software.

1. Which cable / pin configuration is right for your Vehicle?

You’ll want a cable with a pin connection that matches your connection available in the Vehicle. For Vehicles with either no diagnostic connector or a special OEM connector, RoadLog will need to be installed using the Open Wire direct wiring installation cable kit. Look at your Vehicle to be sure, but as a rule:

• Most 2007 and newer Vehicles have the 9 pin configuration.

• Vehicles built from 2002 to 2006 may have either the 6 pin or 9 pin configuration.

• Vehicles built from 1996 to 2001 generally have the 6 pin configuration.

• Vehicles built from 1992 to 1995 with Electronic Fuel Injection may have a 6-pin connector, a special OEM connector or no diagnostic connector port.

• Vehicles built before 1992 typically have Mechanical Fuel Injection, which may require the installation of a speed sensor.

For more information, please see our “Installation Guide for Mechanical Fuel Injection Vehicles,” or contact our Technical Support (phone number on back cover).

• Light and Medium-duty Vehicles and Vans generally have the 16 pin OBD II configuration and require an OBD II interface unit, which is supplied with the cable.

2. Standard cable or Y-cable?

• The standard cable provides quick plug-and-play installation, but it occupies the diagnostic port and must be disconnected to perform diagnostics with a service tool.

• The Y-cable takes slightly longer to install, but retains an open port for fast diagnostics hook-up and provides a cleaner looking installation. The Y-cable contains two diagnostic connectors. One replaces your existing Diagnostic connector, and the other plugs into the existing Diagnostic connector behind the dash.
