What is Valentine’s Day?   

 Valentine's day is when someone gives their love through a gift. Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine. It is celebrated annually on February 14th . Originating as a Western Christian feast day honouring one or two early saints named Valentinus. Valentine's Day is recognized as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance in many regions around the world.  By Jessica :)

What is Chinese New Year?                   

Millions of people celebrate Chinese New Year. This time round it is the year of the Rat. Chinese New Year will begin on 25th January. In Chinese culture, rats were seen as a sign of wealth and surplus.The Rat is the first of all zodiac animals. According to the story, the Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party.The Rat tricked the Ox into giving him a ride.Then, just as they arrived at the finish line, the rat jumped down and landed ahead of Ox, becoming first. The zodiac story  Long ago, in China, the Jade Emperor decided that there should be a way of measuring time. On his birthday he told the animals that there was going to be a swimming race. The first twelve animals across the river would be the winners and each of them would have a year of the zodiac named after them. All the animals lined up along the river bank. The rat was worried, as he was a poor swimmer. Just before the race began, he jumped into the ox's ear. Because the rat was small and nimble and the ox big and strong, the ox did not notice the rat and swam rapidly to the other side of the river.
