To the best of my knowledge, the percentage of IITians in IIMs
are decreasing
due to various reasons like
1) IITians deciding to pursue their interests instead of chasing
management
education just for the sake of it.
2)Increasing awareness of IIMs in Tier-2, Tier-3 cities has made
many non
IITians to target IIMs.
Typically, the percentage ranges from 20%-25%

g8...y because basically IITians has more IQ and learning
capabilities...but

AFAIK in IIM Calcutta 2011-13 batch there were >140 IIT-ians
(almost 40+
from KGP only) in a batch of 463. The percentage of overall
engineers
(IIT/NIT/BITS and others) in the batch was also highest among
all IIMs. The
reason for A and B having less no of engineers (and also less no
of IIT/NIT-
ians ) was those institutes having less strict admission
criteria for non-
engineering applicants such as Commerce, Economics,
Medicine,Pharma, Pure
Science etc. students.
Now with all IIMs changing the admission criteria in recent
years I expect
that the %age of engineers (and IIT-ians) to 'marginally' come
down in next
few years.

As can be seen in IIMC's summer placement report for the 2013-15
batch,
IITians constitute 28% of the batch.
I could also collect the following information from the
placement reports:
2013-2015: 28% of the batch
2012-2014: 24% of the batch
2011-2013: 23% of the batch
2010-2012: 25% of the batch
From what I gather through unofficial sources, the number is
similar in IIM A
and B.
